Pig-Tailed Dreamer comes home

Look what arrived in the mail yesterday--a present from me to me for my birthday this year:

I will place her right next to my Grand'mere in my sewing room as my Creative Muse....I purchased her at Dee's site.

I saw her on Deedee's site and knew I had to bring her here.....she is even more lovely in person than in this picture.  I think as quilter's we are all dreamers, in a way.  Dreaming up colors, settings, borders, new blocks or finding our various ways to express our feelings....

She also came swaddled in extra pieces of lovely fabric from Dee's Studio...and has my first name initials "JR" attached to her side...I cannot tell you how deeply she pleases me....Thank you Dee for such a lovely creation....

Enjoy this long weekend...I will be "dreaming" in my studio...Julierose, La Blageuse

"MUNCHKIN" COMES TO VISIT

Look who came for a visit....my darling granddaughter, Fiona--who is now feeding herself (finger foods, natch) and very intent on grasping food...food...more food...a gourmet in the making...

Oh...and yes, drinking, too--she is 7 months old....and raring to go...busy, busy girl...

And she will sit with anyone now...not so "strange"--but still keeping her eyes on "Mommy", of course...

Here is Grand-pere (aka my darling husband) doing a maracca rhythm --another musician in the making??

"See, now it's my turn..."  we had such a wonderful day...don't you just love grandchildren????

BABY BASSETTS

Here is what will be the reverse of the "Little Quilt" Scotties I will be gifting to my friends:

Plenty of scottish plaids (log cabin style) and pix of little baby bassett hounds from my dog fabric collection surrounded on either side by trees like those that abound where they live....:

My friends own a pair of the cutest, adorable bassetts-- one is a rescue and the other, older one was a pet:

And the second pix shows my wonky log cabins surrounding the single Bassett puppy--I think this print is darling....

I am planning on gifting on July 4th, so I have to get to hand- stitchin' now....au revoir...

AWOL--Spiderman Edition-OUCHERS!!!

It's a sad tale.....they are all so very right when they tell you to ...
A L W A Y S close your rotary cutter after each cut...(and don't cross your hand over your body to stabilize any cloth, either)"Voici":

AND:

I also wrenched my thumb pulling the finger back--but, alas, not in time--sooo, "Spiderman" is holding it all together (which, I might say, is more than I am doing at the moment!!) I always have "Spiderman" and "Hello Kitty" bandaids on hand (no pun intended!!) for when the grandchildren come.....who knew, I'd be using them?

So, today is off to the library day instead of finishing up Scotties'day:

My nine "Scotties" ( who have been whispering among themselves about how their "ears", tails, & paws" look since I appliqued them)----- Well, guys, that's how they're going to stay--so "get used to it!!"  Enough already!!    I still love them tho'.....see......especially this middle one.....

Moving on.... was able to do a little pinning on my 2nd "Woods" piece:

Am trying for a fog-bound look...using the reverse of the Japanese wave piece on the bottom....the moon is a flowery batik all in greys and pale grey-blues--in honor of the "Flower Moon" we just witnessed.....and as a memory piece of our cruise through those deserted islands in the Carribbean last year...they seemed like the land that time forgot....simply, lushly beautiful...
C'est tout!

A Saturday Birthday Beginning....

Here is the very beginning of  the 2nd in my new "Woods" series:

Wind-tossed-Log cabin flower-trees, abandoned houses, ocean and...and...who knows...just moving pieces around ....

Tigers, red waves...just letting my mind wander in this woodland...who would have lived here at the intersection of sea and forest????

"Truly now I've grown old
in the winter rains.
Even the worlds' leaves
of love
change in their falling".  (9th century by Ono no Komachi)
Happy Mother's Day all and wondrous weekend times....Julierose, La Blageuse

WALK THE DOGGIES/FIND THE ROAD

Every dog has its day....nine of them... to try to learn to applique

Some are OK; others not so much...
but learning (I hope!) to be more delicate and make tinier stitches, closer together and not to PULL the thread so tightly.....

This Scottie's not too bad.....and here's a bordering idea....

"...oh, woe is me! look how she made my ear look.."  I can just hear them yapping away....

AHEM.  AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT--

"Midway on our life's journey, I found myself
In a dark woods, the right road lost.
To tell about those woods is hard---so tangled and rough"

This piece was sparked from my online class with Jude Hill (tho' I know it is not her style, only her method; her classes are phenomenal!!) and I plan to hang it by our front entrance just inside as a welcome to all...(.thought of this old piece of velvet from when my Grand-pere worked in the velvet mills and brought home leftovers to Grand'mere...."Remember Me".).

And so it goes, trying new things, bringing out old pieces to re-new and finish.....Have a good weekend all, Julierose, La Blageuse.....(still searching for the right road)
