CHRISTMAS FLOWER CROCHET

Here are the
StarFlower Afghan centers....I did these while relaxing on our Cruise--the ocean waves wafting...yes, it WAS really wonderful, gals....ahhhh, ,,,,

A surround of "snowfall"--I don't think you can see the silver metallic thread that flows throughout this lovely really white yarn.....

AND--TA DA:  the grey skies from which those flakes of snow swirl....

I am debating if I should add any other rounds:  dark green, maroon...still pondering....

AND:
all toted in this cute zipper bag from "Split Yarn"'s shop online....it is just perfect for my small beginnings -- enough room for scissors, hooks, yarn and centers.....

I am continuing to work on these, once home, while watching my Red Sox.  I really really love crocheting so much--it's as big a surprise to me as anyone.  As  I am a lifelong knitter who cannot knit any longer because of my left hand problems....whereas, crocheting allows that hand to just hold the work and my right to do all the twisting and turning necessary.

Gosh--working on Christmas Afghans already???  Could these be gifts??? Well, I'll never tell.....

hugs to you all--off we go again to see our grandchildren tomorrow...and, DH loves to drive, SO, I get to crochet on the drive, too..YAY!!!!

It's Done!!  My Easter Afghan--I did 3 rows of single crochet with the Monet variegated yarn for the border....

I think you can see it here......I just really love variegated yarns so much!

Tomorrow will be a travel day for us--up to sit for Fiona--what fun...

I am getting the "Sewing bug" again...hugs, Julierose, La blageuse Crochet-euse

WELCOME HOME, SAILORS---IRISES

These lovelies greeted us after our week's sojourn....
I got just  one as a "FREE" gift with another order of bulbs long ago--the other bulbs were eaten up by our resident deer population for dessert!
 BUT THESE--OH MY!

Loving how these swoop low over the rock...so romantic!

they are so purely white--they glimmer and glisten even in the dark....just a little strip of cream in there, too..
A beautiful Sunday spectacle to cherish....

And, lots more to come...buds a-plenty

Best of holiday long weekend to all you lovelies...
Hugs, Julierose, La Blageuse (in love with irises--can't wait for the purple ones to come out now...)

HOME FROM THE SEA

A GEM of a cruise on this baby!  Seven carefree days with: no cooking, no cleaning
and no worries; no tv, no news, no papers-- just sailing .... what a delightful way to celebrate my 71st birthday--sailing off to Nassau....

this lovely bouquet greeted us in our stateroom and.....................

This scrumptious snack  is a sample of what we received every afternoon for "Tea".

As the boat is 1,000 feet long and were were in an aft suite, and the buffet was in the bow--we surely walked at least one mile each day--and much more doing what
we came to dub as the "stairmaster" climbing back and forth over some 13 floors....
No extra weight dared to come visit me!! (YAY)

We are still getting our "land legs" under us as the last 2 days were very rough--10-12 foot swells and very windy.  Even my intrepid DH who never gets seasick had to use one of my "patches"!!

But, in the end--there is really no place like home--and good old solid (!) Mother Earth beneath our feet.

We are still in that post vacation "brain fog" and a little weary, but very grateful for our lovely trip.  More pix later....

LE CRUISE TO NASSAU

My DH and I will be leaving on a "Slow Boat to Nassau..."(la la la laaaaa la la!!) tomorrow for a week
away.

My birthday will be at sea (does that mean it won't count??  hahaha) on Monday --and I will be actually E A T I N G something other than salad!!

I am so EXCITED; we are packed and the taxi will pick us up at 6:45 am to take us to our shuttle to  Port Authority in NY--we sail at 3 pm....("Red Sails in the Sunset")...and all that jazz...

So I will be absent for a bit here, but will report back next week....hoping to find some Bahama Batik that I hear is available ....I know, the fabric diet and all--
W E L L , I may never go back soooo...fingers crossed....

I did get my first mailing from Pink Castle today of the Japanese fabrics and they were not what I expected; more of a linen/heavy cotton texture...so, I didn't continue my fabric club.  Kind of disappointed....
But perhaps I can make Willa and Fiona some little place mats from them--they are all little kiddie novelty prints....

I hung up my CQ blocks on my design wall--which has been blank for months and plan to continue working  on them over the summer.

Think of me crocheting away and perhaps lifting a toast to all of you, my faithful followers on this crazy, ever-changing crafty journey I am on...

MY FIRST CARD MAKING ADVENTURE

Since I will be away for Mother's Day, I thought I'd do a Slow Sunday Scrapping...
I made this card for my Mom...I will bring her flowers and a mocha milkshake this
Wednesday---her early present was the afghan...

I used my Zutter to roughen up those edges and the Tim Holtz Distress Antique Ink to darken up those edges....and also his Paper collection which I LOVE!

Here is the inside:

I decided to just use these really cute stickers (after the three hours on the front!! Measuring and re-cutting and re-adhering!!)

AND--the Envelope--TA-DAH

that May dragonfly is an old rub-on I had in my "bits and bobs" drawer...

this was a fun morning's work for me....
Hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day....

DON'T YOU WISH YOU HAD MADE THIS ONE??

My good friend and quilting maven, MaryAnn  (aka MaryHam)  brought this to my house after quilting it at our LQS on their longarm.  All Wm Morris prints....ahhhhh, absolutely gorgeous.

Just take a gander at these prints....

Beautiful, aren't they???
And best of , she put them together so that they blend into a fabulous whole cloth...

LOVELY!!

Here is a wonderful example of letting the prints work for you...such amazing scrappy-ness!!

Here is her choice of backing--a stunning Royal Doulton Archival fabric that she snagged for
an amazing bargain price....

I really {heart} this piece of work AND you know what....And this is typical of her generosity

She is going to GIFT it to her Aunt...who fell in love with it when she saw it....
Kudos to you, my friend--another star in your crown.....

Hugs to you all,
