DOUBLE FUN

Remember these?? Last year I joined RSC2015 along with the
Postage Stamp Swap and made 12 of these blocks....and

here are the other six:

Since I finally finished Cassidy's blocks this morning (Phew!!) I decided to take a break and
put these up on Le Wall ; they are 17" +/- square--

I know they need something else--right now I have set them 3 across and four down to get 52" x 68"
Pretty good sized already--but they don't speak to me this way....

So I am thinking of adding this fabric as borders.....

I LOVE this black & white  print in French--
I really don't know if I will also add some sashings--
........................???????
or just two long strips from top to bottom to separate colors???

Right now, I cannot visualize it.----  so..................
it will stay up there so I can/will peek at it going by and while I sew Cassidy's blocks together....
;--))))
speaking of which--I will have to put Cassidy's on my living room floor as my wall isn't big enough
to contain it ....and I've realized that the Christmas backing strippy I made isn't big enough either.....

more decisions..... ;000....

I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day holiday..
We will be having hot sweet sausage grinders, with DH's homemade sauce and peppers and
onions covered in mozzarella....that's our dinner tonight...

NINE APRIL RAINERS

April showers sure brought me lovely flowers--

and

One of these bloomed:
Cassidy's favorite color.....grape scented sentinel--

Here are today's nine blocks
Seventeen more to go.....then to find some kind of order....

Grrrrrr...

Even "Monsieur tigre" , peeking out there, is wearing flowers....

I am getting to the end of making these blocks and after laying out
5 across and 7 down--I am finding that the width of my backing
will have to be enlarged....as per usual my math skills leave
a lot to be desired...I didn't take into account those sashings....;000

So, some kind of Christmas-sey border will have to go on the back
...will have to do some stash diving....

and that is all for this rainy gray day

SUNDAY SAMPLER

You can start to visualize how these will be going together now--nine done--
twenty-six left to go...they most likely won't be in this order--just taking them as they come from this pile of 35-

-(N.B.: the 42" white strips from that now infamous Honeybun --not MY honey!!--
are just about making it for both bottom and left hand borders--I will definitely have to
trim all of these blocks before sewing them together....ack!!And so it goes...)

On the garden front--my iris have tentatively begun to bloom--a few brave souls are
showing their white flags....
they are lemon scented and get more beautiful each year....

With today's rain, I expect more to emerge....

.... these look about ready to spring open.....

It is "mizzling" out there today (mist+drizzle--is this a word??) and very gray....I will
be making minnestrone soup for our dinner and drop rolls to go with.....

SEXTET FOR FRIDAY

Here are the next lovelies--only six more to go after these....

I love the way this line uses different saturations of colors :

I mean, look at that border--so impressionistic...
here's a closer look:
Now, how yummy is that???;--)))
AND more....
Amazing!!
And.....who would have thought that that lime green and the turquoise would
look so well together....

the same pattern--but a totally different "feel"...so light and airey...

I won't go through them all, but you get the idea...

With only six left to make, I am hoping that over the weekend I can finish them up....
My piano tuner is due this noontime--as our heat is mainly off, so --
it's that time for a tune up.... I tried playing yesterday and as a result am sporting my hand
brace today...do so miss my 2+ hrs of practice...every day....

I have set up a double page spread of my garden here at this house from its inception
to last year --uh...BEFORE the deer ate all my gorgeous blood-red lilies...so, I guess I'll be filling my time with reading and scrapping--not so bad, after all--with my CD playing; humming along to the Chopin Nocturnes I worked so hard on...and so it goes  (Hi Mom & Dad);))))

Tonight will be a  meatloaf and baked potatoes with the ubiquitous salad for a side....
I may make a Krusteaz cinnamon coffee cake for breakfast tomorrow, too...
if the spirit moves me

hugs--- and here's to a happy and fruitful weekend for you all...

ELEPHANTS ON PARADE

The latest three done this morning......

And if I've said this before I apologize--can you see how the cut edge that came on this 1.5" strip (I did not touch it) is so wave-y and raveling??

I put it on my cutting mat and if you look closely (sorry for the close-up blurring) you can make out its uneveness and raveling--in order to fix (??) this I am using the pinked edges of the 2.5" strips as my straight edge---we'll see how this works;000

(Moda, be very ashamed of yourself on this Honeybun!!Shame on you!!)

"Voici !! La Mama Elephante"------------ her herd is below here:

Stepping carefully around the flowers in the middle...;))))

(Can you make them out???--Pretty dainty stepping for elephants..LOL)

And below...the one yellow 5" square in the charm pack--all others have two???
I wonder why???

I'll have to see how this fits in....hmmmmm

Mama in her final walk through her field of flowers...enjoying the wonderful scents.....and so my thoughts run amok......

While I was sewing this morning, I was listening to ABC Radio's Piano Classics--so relaxing--time to go and practice myself this afternoon....

I'll leave you with visions of elephants tip-toe-ing daintily through fields of flowers today....

GARDENING & ANNOYANCES

My irises are  so ready to bloom--if the weather would get warmer......

And my Bleeding Hearts are already coming along....

and
this little flower appeared among my irises this year--
I don't know what it is
but it is pretty....
we are working really hard to try to beautify our little acreage here...
AND
For my little herb patch.........this year

I am planning on basil, tarragon, Italian Parsley and scented
geraniums this year....

Today we went to see Connor and Gregory play baseball--it was
SO COLD--and WINDY--we just froze!!  It felt like March--I couldn't
get any pictures as the whole field was fenced in--it has taken me 2 hours to warm up and many cups of tea....;00

Unfortunately, these sights that follow---do not beautify anything!!

This is the sight that we see NOW on our neighbors' abutting front lawn:

We are not too thrilled--to say the least.....and it appears that it will be staying there....;000 !!!

previously, the BIG BLUE BUS was visible from our tv room and back deck:

And the boat was parked on our circle
So everywhere we looked we saw either the bus or the boat....
and now ...well, enough said--we are not happy campers.....

Everyone else in our area makes a superb effort to have their properties look nice to everyone else....but not our neighbors as luck would have it....

And so it goes....
hugs to you all

FOUR MORE

As i sew more and more of these blocks, I am falling in love with these fabrics all over again.....

This is my favorite (I think ;00) of these four....the border strips just glow..

and this aqua is just so wonderful....how can you choose???

More subtle letting the center shine through....just so lovely

And another softer, more expressionistic look here....

Let the fabric do the talking is my new motto....
(hope you are not getting bored with these blocks i am featuring--
1/2 way now....)

hugs to you all on this sunny Tuesday...
hugs, Julierose, La Blageuse (sewing-euse)

P.S.  Has anyone else noticed that in their blog feeds there are a TON of
unsolicited blogs and advertisement blogs? things you never subscribed to follow?  I find this very annoying...;000

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

Happy (Rainy) Mother's day to all you Mommies out there!!

I hope you get to talk to or see your children today....

Missing my Mom on this, the 1st Mother's day
                                                     since she has been gone....;-((((

But, we had a whole lot of them together and I cherish many good memories...

I am sitting and sipping my morning cup of java and slowly entering the world of the wide "awakers.".lol

Still no sewing to show you..but here are a few pix of my mystery book shelf for your bibliophiles out there...
{.I used to bring a book (we both loved a good mystery) when I visited Mom, and read to her--she loved that and would doze off and dream......}

These are my "keepers" that i have read a few times and will most likely read again.....
I hope you will have a relaxing day --i know I'll be reading:the Carolyn Graham
Barnaby series: "Faithful unto Death" (2nd in the series...)

hugs to you all

NSD*

*Today is National Scrapbooking Day...here is my page to begin the month of May
in my Project Life Album....I was so happy to see that lavender come up and those budded
branches just made me think that Spring is here...despite the cold, raw and windy weather...

and here is a page from our Travel Album detailing part of our trip to Germany in 1989 : (I also need to revisit our various other trips and cruises....a lot to play catch up on......

this page pictures the central Mozart Platz in Austria; I used (in the smaller middle section) trial quilting stitch fabrics that i saved.  i was checking out Helga for machine quilting and these two flowery pieces remind me of the fabrics and linens available in the German stores....
We had SUCH a lovely trip--i love using both paper and fabric in my albums....my two passions....
;-)))))

and here is another page included in this week's work:

Yes, that is me standing and watching the giant outdoor chess match....(i was so much thinner--and younger  holey moley!! 1989...time flies....) and I love to scrap to look back and to detail today....
on this NSD i have been watching videos, live streams and spending my Scrappin' Saturday relaxing...DH got me a neat pair of headphones so I can listen while the tv is on....he is a true sweetie
hugs to you all--soon going back into sewing mode--the back issue seems to be resolving (fingers crossed)...

EENY,MEENY,MY-NIE, MO

The next block in Cassidy's quilt--I love this one....and...........

How can you not think this is scrumptious???.....{heart}

AND
then.......................OMYGOSH   TALK ABOUT BEAUTIFUL COLORS....

[note to self: use these colors on a scrapbook page with B/W photo--YES!!]

These Tula Pink fabrics are just so vibrant....and yet soft.....

I would have a hard time choosing which was my favorite.

I sewed these three together early this afternoon, ooh-ing and ah-ing over each one....
now I have 9 of the 35 done....(Can you find Mrs. Elephant & her crew???? ;)))))

Hugs,
Julierose, La Blageuse (amazed-euse)
