FIRST JOY DONE & DUSTED

My DIL Lin's
Banner is all packaged
up and ready to mail out tomorrow.
I finished the binding and
the label this morning....

Her birthday was actually the
22nd, but I just couldn't
get it finished in time...

Here is the back view
↡↡↡
A really vintage scene
and her is the label--
just a simple
inked message
set with a hot iron:
↓↓↓
I hope she likes it...

I am so happy to get this one
in the mail...

***************************
Next will be my daughter's
JOY banner...
she is getting her new
Farmhouse style dining table
today and
it is a gray weathered wood..

I hope this will compliment
her decor for Christmas.
I need to layer it up,
pin and quilt it, and make
its binding.

Hoping to begin this week..
[If my sciatica doesn't
rear up again...👾]

***************************
And
On that sciatica front--
it does seem to
be getting better
fingers crossed!!
👵
And, also
the ankle/lower leg
is responding to
icing and epsom
salts soaks..

***********************
I hope you are getting in the
mood for the
upcoming holiday season...
We are still figuring out
who will be where and who
will come here and when
etc etc
The usual pre-holiday
hullabaloo...
💃💃💃

TURKEY DAY

We had a surprise visit from
my son and his family --
and "Lucy",
their new puppy,
who is the sweetest
thing;))💖💖,
this morning.

We all enjoyed an
antipasto  platter of
goodies to hold us over
until our bigger Turkey meal
later on.

I played "War" card game with the
girls and we caught up on
family news...

Then they left for Lin's family and
their celebration...

It was really wonderful to
see them all...

********************
Our turkey went in at 1:30--
so the two of us
will have a quiet,
celebratory
meal.

**********************
I hope you are all enjoying this
special day of gratefulness.

Hugs, Julierose,
La Blageuse,

JOY#3 FLIMSY

JOY #3 is on the right;
with all borders on--this
one will be for my daughter,
Candice...

How different No.2 (left)
looks from No. 3... (right)..
👀💃👀

I find it so fascinating how
you can skew the "look"
from Vintage/Whimsical
to Elegant/classy...
:)))

Here is a better look at the top
border...
Since this was a horizontal
one-way  printed fabric,
 I decided to
fussy cut this
 top border to
include the house.

And
This bottom one
↨↨↨
to include  the Snowman and
decorated lamp posts
and decorated doorway..

[Again click to enlarge].
*********************

Now I have to layer them up
and decide how to quilt them...
and
I have the backing fabric chosen...

I would love to hand quilt them..
BUT
I wonder if there is time
before Christmas???

************************
This morning we watched
Formula One (F1) Qatar Race.....
and Tom went out
and got doughnuts for us.
A VERY special only sometime
treat in this house...
😋💕😋

*************************
Tonight will be cheeseburgers
with fried onions on toast,
with french fries...
SO.....
definitely not a diet day:))) :D

I hope your Sunday is a super one..

TRIPLE JOY, et al

This 3rd banner will
be for my son and
his family for Christmas

↧↧↧
I had some Jason Yenter
Christmas fabric
leftover that I included --

and this cute
border fabric
which was hiding in
my old stash...
I had been saving these
last two fussy cut
pieces for i knew not what!!
And they fit so well here...
:)))
Serendipity💖

⇊⇊
I had JUST just  enough
of that older Santa's
Workshop fabric to put on
the top and bottom...

I think Willa and Fiona will
like that addition.
:)))

***********************
I now need to add borders
to the 2nd banner
which will be for
my daughter in her
new condo and for her
new dining table...

She has been having a
bit of a tough time lately
and I hope this
will brighten her day.

This one is a little more
her style...
a bit
more elegant
and
not so whimsical;)))

Here are a couple closeups
of the border fabric
I have chosen...
↡↡↡

I love this soft print...
I think it will
look so sweet
with its snowy
background...

*************************
I have been sewing in 15-20
 minute intervals  all week;
prepping the next bit each time...

It is truly amazing how much
you can do even in
short stints...

I am grateful that I have had
enough pain free hours
to sew  these
two gifts...

It was such fun searching through my
diminishing Christmas fabric stash and
coming upon enough little pieces to
make these.  I will certainly be making
more of this type of smaller
project  in the future...

*************************
AND NOW....
I will hope to get the two gifts
layered up for quilting...

[Mine (No 1) will have to
be the last on my list.
But I will hand quilt that one
during the post-holiday
season.....]

JOY - FUL # 3

Joyful Sewing:
"J"
is:
Windblown trees
in the snowy landscape.

And
And...."O"
IS set up to sew next.....

[I removed that orange tray and
set this one  up on my
new design board...
so much easier to 👀
on that white background...]

I want to make at least three
of these for gifting with
the 1st one for us to
enjoy ...

**************************************
And here are a few quilts I saw
today online while
resting....

This one is from Pat Sloan's blog
↨↨↨

It was her block a day last year...
called "HOPE"
Isn't that pretty?

And I love this one:
⇓⇓⇓
I am "collecting"
pictures of
blocks I'd like to make
{seeing as my sewing is
so limited right now}
for the future...

and Lastly
[but not least-ly ;D ]
↴↴↴
I love this hexagon setting...
💓
BIG rosettes
that could be made into a
tree skirt for a
 tabletop
Christmas
Tree.
I have been searching out
smaller items to make.
(ones that do not include
zippers
or any fancy stuff!!)
👵

*****************
I was able to walk
[cane aided, but still]
around the parking lot
circle at the Fields
where we go to
walk....👧

I am bound to be sore afterwards,
but I have to try to move more...

It was a glorious day; cool but
it was SO good
to get out and about a bit...

JOY TIMES TWO, et al

I started my 2nd Joy Banner
stoday...

I found that  bare trees fabric
from an old Ghastlie line
in my deep stash...
[click above to see the pretty
snowflake batik
come to life]
:)))

And I set up
↓↓↓
" O "

{"O Tannenbaum" was
running through my
head while I set
this up}

I have this set up on an old plastic
serving tray with an orange pattern
so it looks a bit strange...

but it is more in the mint green
 turquoise color range...

*********************
This morning,
my 👴Sweet Baboo 👴 took
me for a ride to get out....;)))
BUT
unfortunately we spent 35 minutes in
a traffic jam because of road work
AND
👿👹
because of
those people who wouldn't pull
over and wait--they had to
push their way ahead of
us all to the very end of the closed
lane--so
ANNOYING!!
(comments deleted!!)

But a bonus was that
our trees were in their
glorious Fall clothing
and just beautiful...
I felt my spirits rise
just looking at them...👵

**********************

I got this lovely
Amaryllis kit--
so tomorrow I will
get this planted...
How pretty is this one...
💖💖💖

****************************
And.....
⇩⇩⇩
Here is my new setup
for printed cross stitching
with clamp-on
MAGNIFIER:
👀👀👀
So very much easier to see...
for this ancient one's eyes..

I am making slow progress on
this piece....

**********************
I want to
thank you all
for sending me good
wishes
 for my recovery:
In that vein I
will report---
that
Today I was able to
walk the grocery aisles
holding the cart without
pain--;))))

The only problem was
standing and waiting in line...
ooof-dah
that part still hurt!!

But I think I am finally beginning
to see improvement...
perhaps turning the
corner...

JOY BANNER FLIMSY, et al

Here is my "JOY" banner
with added borders....

I used this VERY OLD
fabric from my
stash for the
top and bottom
borders
↧↧↧
I love this
"old-timey" fabric;
it has
the cutest little
children  sledding,
building snowmen, and sitting
on huge snowballs...
;)))
to see figures].

And for the sides, I used this lovely
gold-gilded pomegranate
fabric--repeating
the few I used
in the words...
↡↡↡
I still have quite a bit
of that "pom" fabric left
for another
banner, perhaps...

It took me
most of the week to
do these, but
they did get done!!
Now to layer it up so
I can hand quilt it!
*********************
I moved my ironing
board down to chair
level so I could iron these
borders
↧↧↧
{excuse that old, stained cover!!}
👾👾

You can just see the back of my
lumbar cushion there.

I am STILL unable to stand for
any length of time
with this ongoing sciatica
that is still plaguing me;
so, the chair is the way to go..

👹👽👺

*************************
I had begun making this little piece
a few years ago and gave up on it..
👇👇👇

I would like to begin
working on these blocks
in 2022.  [This picture
shows them
pieced and not appliqued.]

You readers know that I don't
normally make lists--
despite the fact
that I am an avid "pen and ink"
journaler...😏

AND
that is because
for some reason lists
make me feel stressed--
like they are some kind
of "deadline"
I have to meet.

[The little girl flying her
balloons is from Martha's
"Q is For Quilting"  blog]

I love that vintage look
and hope to rescue
some of my really older
fabrics and finally use
them...

Well, anyway...
that is my little plan for now...
;D

After making the JOY banner
I think that I will enjoy using
2.5" squares in this
pixilated method
for my little Vintage Girl
project.

Hugs on this sunny Saturday
from the heating pad,
Julierose,
La blageuse
