I LIKE # 19 (I think?)

                                               For some unknown reason--
                                                HALLOWEEN WITCHERY I think!!
                                                     I cannot post
                                                            ANY  pictures today...;((((

                                                                Sorry Lee Anna and

                                                                              Back next time

I spent the day quilting Autumn Snowballs....

Just one vertical and one horizontal line throughout, crossing in the
middle (mostly ) of the snowballs...

I like the
pink thread on these colors...

                                                            and on these purples.....

Here is the reverse...patched together in pinks and grays...
Along with  Kitties on this side
                                                         a Few little gals...too.....
And as a treat, cupcakes YUM!!
                                                             After  a bicycle ride...
P H E W ...

Next will be trimming and  making the binding.....
hugs, Julierose, La blageuse (not quilting any more big quilts-euse);)))

                                        REMEMBER ME?
My first 6 Crazy Quilt blocks.
sewn together into a wall hanging...

Well, I've undearthed the next 5 blocks that I had prepped....

Here they are ready to be embellished...

I have chosen this "belle dame" to work on first:
I am trying to learn the "cretan stitch" on these blocks..

Here is my first "stab" (hahhaa) at it....with a few little
                                   french knots added ....
                                                 A N D
I will also be adding bits and bobs of lace and buttons...as I go....

This block will be my tv time sewing ....

Using my new sewing pillow that I made a few
weeks ago to rest my work on.....
Along with that constant cuppa tea...at my side....
My Autumn Snowballs quilt is tabled for today (on the dining table actually)--
as I awoke this morning with a digestive disturbance
and am not up to par...;000
So I don't figure it's a good idea to be hauling it
through Helga feeling like this....
I guess this bug is still hanging on--so another resting day....

I hope you are all having a great weekend...hugs, Julierose La blageuse

I decided to do straight  (sort of hahaha) .....
line quilting on my Autumn Snowballs.

I managed the 16 rows in this direction this afternoon....and
Tomorrow I will be winding bobbins and giving my poor
shoulders a rest...
Hoping on Saturday to finish in the North-South direction
through the centers

This took me 2.5 hours...my walking foot kept on jiggling out of
place--I think the screw hole for the ankle has worn down
through the years..I had to keep on tightening it...ugh....
Helga is aging, too, it seems...;000

Thom and I went to Big Y food shopping this morning hoping that I would be able to
NOT HAVE TO GO on Friday, Saturday or Sunday-- as I always seem to be running out of
something or other...

Leftovers tonight---from last night's Taco dinner--we mix the seasoned meat in with some
rice and have re-fried beans and salad on the side..easy and good with a few
x-tra shakes of  cumin and chili powder...YUM!!

                          Remember my Autumn Snowballs quilt?

I began machine quilting it this morning.....
I did straight "holding lines down the print sashings

and then...
How am i going to quilt those blocks?

Maybe just an all-over grid? (I only do walking foot quilting...)
or just tie the rest? Or hand quilt it?
I am tempted to handquilt around all the little snowballs...
(and "hello",,,,to another year's work?   hahaha)

I've laid it out on the dining room table to ponder
how to continue...

I love making quilts--it's really the finishing that I find difficult and
frustrating...any suggestions?

Another grand pause has arrived....this is what happens when I try to
finish UFO's....not the part I like the best....;000

Terri  had sent me this paper pieced butterfly as a gift....
Here is the (finally ) finished table topper that I made with it
                                                 in the medallion style
thanks so much Terri , ;))) it really inspired me...
I hand quilted it with perle cottons...

And I did a new-to-me free-form, raw edge ruffled binding......I thought it just went with
the idea of a fluttering butterfly....;)))

(see "Zazu's"  Youtube  channel for instructions)

Here is the reverse  : an Asian  Ladies side: with the last pieces of geisha fabric....

This is the start of my "Finish-a-Thon...."
I have decided that I canNOT make anything new until all those
                                                  UFO's are D O N E ..

Wish me luck  --
                                       next up will be  Snowballs...

[Yup!! I have come down with a touch of flu ---
I already got my shot about 1 1/2 wks ago; and
I was told it takes TWO weeks for it to take hold  ;000]

I am just a bit under the weather--not really bad....but just
feeling ickey...
and not going out in this windy weather with my
lingering eye problem
                                      YES,  I AM A MESS!!!!;0000

I spent the afternoon setting up this area for my junk journaling (JJ)....

I use a LOT of STUFF!!  This JJ station is right behind my sewing machine
and off to the right from diamond painting area...

[I can roll my office chair around on the hardwood floor
to the three different work stations...]

Thank heavens for my IKEA cart--its upper  two 2 shelves
hold most of the items I use for JJ (lotsa "stuff");
and the bottom one holds diamond painting items...
and framing needs...

Here is the "L-shaped" set up for JJ'ing and DP-ing...

Behind, in this pix, is my cutting table --
a rescued item from when Thom taught Middle School
that they were going to heave out during a remodel...

It didn't have any top so,
Thom attached an old door which he sealed for the top...
We like to re-use and re-purpose here....;))))

Those drawers hold all my dies and the 3rd drawer is my "drawer
of shame"--items that never worked out...(gulp!!);000
I had stored all my JJ stuff in boxes and had to haul it all out today--
but I have found most of what I intend to use for now...needless to
say I am pretty knackered...but have a dedicated spot for JJ-ing.
so that makes me happy...

I am SO lucky to have a dedicated craft room for myself...
I used to have to pull everything out and work on our dining
room table and then
put it all away each time...yikes!!

I hope you are enjoying this spate of gorgeous weather...

We have a big storm coming in tomorrow and we are going
to a friend's 80th (yes 80th!!) birthday party about one hour's
drive away--so wish us luck with that drive..

JUNK JOURNALING [aka Bad turkeys]

                       MY HANDMADE TRAVELER'S NOTEBOOK

After the Turkey Lurkey Family decided not to cooperate this morning--as in:

oh, the batting needs trimming, uhhh
ohhh---- now the backing does, and now
I see that the top itself is not even...
                         [This ever happen to you??]
I got so frustrated--I mean if i keep on trimming it up it'll
fade away into nothingness!!
Mine eyes have not seen the "glory" ;)))
of these turkeys--this top is a "T U R K E Y"

so, before I did anymore cutting, I put it away for another day...

[I hung them on a hanger facing in--there that ought to
SHOW THEM !!:00000]

My eyes are not reliable--at least......
I'd like to think that is the reason....
S I G H
And so, onto My TN (Traveler's Notebook) Junk Journaling:

Ahhhh...playtime...papers, glue, scissors, (no rocks hahaha)

I made this one from scratch last year to chronicle
Late Fall into Winter and Christmastime....

This morning I turned to these pages and began :

This is about Thom's making his {our family's} famous spaghetti sauce....

I backed the pages with a Wintery scene and glued various items
on top and did some pen work..
and added my whimsical sewn selvages to the sides...
I have an old, falling apart cookbook that I tore up and added for the wording....

Clouds, snowflakes, hot cocoa...comfort on a cold, cold day...
Here is a picture of the opening pages spurring me on....
I have used old scrapbooking cards, stickers and photos of bare Autumn trees...these pages
are a preview of Fall into Winter scenes...

                   THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY...
I needed to just PLAY around and have fun...make a "hot mess"
               "Girls Just Gotta Have Fun..."

So mes amies, Mr. & Mrs. Turkey-Lurkey (bad bad turkeys!!)
are in the dog--uh turkey-- house for now...
maybe this "time out" will make them behave...
hopefully, my eyes will return to normality soom..

Here are the two fabrics I've chosen for the back of Turkey Lurkey...
I just love those golden pears
                                            and the autumn leaves...

Here's a better shot of the leaves and berries....

I plan to make 3 blocks with the pears holding center stage....
They will be 15.5 inches square each...
I think I can manage to cut them tomorrow....hopefully...

And here is the beginning of my LARGE (ohmygosh--really large!!)
diamond painting, entitled : "Beach Dunes"

I had started this one before my eye issues began....

This will be my first "landscape" diamond painting...
                             [and perhaps the last....]

Those long swaths of the same color are difficult to get evenly spaced
...which you can see on the top light blue rows--placing those diamonds
has to be precisely done; and this canvas, lovely as the image is,
has pretty light lines for placement...the drills are tiny little
squares and tend to want to go their own way.....

I had been going really slowly and doing the
same color in a checkerboard fashion to help set the drills evenly...
but there is still "gapping" going on...;(((. I am hoping that
from a distance it will not be so obvious...as this is a huge project
and will take a lot of time and effort....
B U T . . . .
I will have to wait a while longer before attempting any diamond
painting work....but this is where it stands for now...
I want to thank everyone who sent good wishes, thoughts and prayers
for me...they were so appreciated...;)))

FYI for those who have asked...

I did go to my eye doctor almost 3 weeks ago now and have
since been told
that these things "take time"--- and I am a testament to that!!;(((

The šŸ‘€ infection itself is over; but the stubborn STY is still in evidence;
so . . .
I am using warm compresses and massage to try to get it to
disappear...and it has gotten smaller.

I want to thank you,  Barbara for sending me this lovely squishy care
package to lift my spirits...so sweet...love that Santa and the
reindeer is just so cute...I am thinking of Christmas placemats for
Fiona and Willa...

Such lovely Christmas fabrics and a pretty, golden/orange leafy print...

I am happy to be back blogging and working on my sewing once
again....even just part time...

hugs, Julierose, La Blageuse...

Look at the pattern I just won over at Jan Patek Quilts!!!!
 Isn't it just charming?
Perfect for the holiday Season....Thank you Jan.. I love your patterns, hoping I can do it justice...
I am still struggling with my eye infection and Sty!! S I G H --so not really able to see well
enough to sew or diamond paint or read .....S I G H ...so frustrating...

I just wanted to let all of you who have sent good wishes and inquiries that it is
getting better and I will be back soon...thank you all.....

Here is where I left off with Turkey Lurkey:
Mr and Mrs. Turkey are tapping their feet impatiently
waiting for me to come and finish their backing...

Hugs, Julierose, La blageuse
