BRET, BART and ME

            My first "Maverick" (get it??? hahaha) Star table topper is a flimsy.......
                                                               (aka:BRET)

I love how the little door in the center welcomes in the Season.....

I think this could be either a Fall-ish or a Christmassy topper...
these are just such fun to make...

I have two more of 9 each here: ready to be sewn together....
                                 (aka BART) below...........

AND
                                                              C'est MOI....
                                                        I have two doorways--
(always have an exit strategy..............
and sit with your back against the wall--= old cowboy movies advice )

I am a little blurry--but it's early in the morning...still waking up....lol

The last two still need to be sewn together; I am finding that I like working on smaller
pieces after all...these should be fun to quilt and easy to handle...

*****************************************************************
Ojos is all tied now and I am going to be making binding this week.....

hugs from another GRAY DAY in SE CT.....;(((( (Thanks Terri)

FUDGE FACTOR, YOU SAY

                         My Maverick Star went a bit too "maverick " here.....
                                 off the rails , so to speak...;0000

How much of a "fudge factor" do you allow???? Discerning quilters
want to know 👯👮😇
("Hello, is this the sewing police??" lol).

And so...(SIGH):
I took her apart and redid her...
Now I absolutely HATE un-sewing...
but I cannot use my usual Fudge Factor here--it's way too mis-aligned....
AND..................
This is better ;)))  don't you think??
(patting myself on the back here) hahaha

I am moving along
slowly with these stars...doing them in sections....

                   I love choosing the centers from my fussy cut print;
                  and then deciding what color of 2.5" squares for the surround;
and
then making the star points;
and finally sewing rows together --
ironing the seams open to help with bulky crossings.....;}}}}}

I  am beginning to get the hang of working with scissors; and as my squares are
already pre-cut,  it's easy to just use my small Friskars scissors to trim up........

SEEING STARS

                            Here is my collection of Maverick Stars....so far--

I've decided to use up my 2.5" squares from my 3-years-ago (!!) swap...
at  "The Curious Quilter" 's blog...............
(she no longer is doing this world wide swap...;((( )

I have a lot of Autumnal golds so every other row will have gold squares until they run out...
After I put together each one, I set up the next and decide on star points fabric...most of the points are 2.5" metallic squares cut diagonally in half...
(see tree, blue door, and wheat sheaves blocks above)
so...because the triangles are so small they become  far away stars--with little
twinkling points....
                              "...far away over the stellar sea..."..
AND...the centers are all cut from a scenic country cotton....that I have fussy cut...

I (as you who have followed me know) don't do triangles...so this is such fun for me to just
use the folded corners method.  This will be another long term ongoing project for
fun sewing...
***********************************************************
along with my Ojos Di Dios strip blocks...

On these Ojos, I am running out of deep maroon scraps so, I've emptied my pink
leftover strips to move the colors to lighter blocks...we'll see how they look...I'll make a couple to try them out...today I was able to take 15 minutes and cut more 6" bases
for these--but decided no more cutting for another while...to let my shoulders rest
up really well....
hugs for a wonderful upcoming weekend with cooler temps (YAY)

SCRAPPY SATURDAY

Working my scrappy blocks with the maroons leftover from "Free the Wild Horses";
and blues from my "Stars" wall hanging.....

You can see my orts from those two quilts laid out here by color......................

**************************************AND*****************************
Here is my salute to Autumn --
all from 2.5" squares and scraps;
and  I am using one fabric
of Summer's Bounty for the centers...

I've been wanting to try out this "Maverick Star"  block for a long time....
This will be a long term leader-ender project...

I love this red door.............
and
Pumpkins ripening....

****************************************AND**************************

Look at this lovely mug rug that DAWN sent me--a surprise happy mailing....
thank you Dawn, you are so thoughtful...I love it!
And the reverse:
Really really cute...

*******************************************AND******************** (G A S P E R S!!)
                         [File under "Squirrel" ...yup, totally enchanted....]

I am cutting 1" centers and strips to join in with the "Log Cabin Loonies" making this 4" finished (;ooo) log cabin block
(I must have lost my mind somewhere today--but I will give it a whirl...)
...at:
                                    Another Julie ;))) 's blog...(click to find her)

go and check out her "teeney" tiny gorgeous piece....

(As you can see I am still using the same colors that are more orts from my Ojo di Dios
works above...)
AND, (sighing here) I am a little (well, actually, a lot!) concerned about the seam allowance thing...I figure it will be a "near thing--so I cut out extra centers
(for my friend "Just-in-Case)hahaha

(Wish me luck, fingers crossed, feet first, jumping in at the deep end...etc etc ðŸ˜“ )
