WELCOME:                       Come into my sewing room...........................;}}}

Here are the latest neutral strippy blocks....

I just love how the grays and browns alternate  ....(the lower line of blocks are the latest additions
making the gray diamond shapes)..

Here are the other ones:

There are a few pops of oranges, and turquoises in here as my stash of neutrals is very small...so I am
stripping off sections from multi-colored fabrics to fill in...
{After two days of migraines that put me to bed (ugh!!) I am finally able to sew
 and craft once again}

AND now for my NEW daily "magazine" journal..........
for those of you interested in my other obsession...;~*)))...

I tore out extra pages (so the binding
wouldn't break) and then prepared this
Sunset magazine for everyday junk-
arty-journaling about our daily lives...

My First spread....

Here's a little peek...sorry for the glare...into last Friday, Saturday and Sunday

[I am "harvesting" images from old magazines to illustrate daily events....]

I am thinking though that I will switch to a weekly two-page spread--for after all, our lives are
not chock-a-block with busyness like when we were bringing up our family and working...

I am finding this a nice alternative to just written journaling ...altho', i am
of course, continuing to keep my daily journal in my Franklin...and my Weeks.

Here are the Youtubers that I follow to learn about this:
Heidi Hornsbury, Dede Willingham, and Craftyhodges ...
(there are many others, but these are the ones I follow.)

I am happy to have found a new way to use-up my old scrapbooking ephemera,
washi tape, and stickers....which have been inundating my craft space....

Cover beginning...

This is  photo heavy Paper  crafting....
This notebook/scrapbook is an eclectic mix of photos and gardens...
and .here I am ..my first Summer...

Grand-pere et moi: My Mom's Dad.....he used to babysit for me and Mom would come
home and find him watching me sleeping in my crib.....I wanted to
                                                      record this memory............

I rescued these photos from an old album that I came across last week...

AND: .
My garden in Winter...

this is two weeks' worth of working in my TN--a memory work...
...I do enjoy this size and playing with paper and photos

                                                                    Two blocks a day
                                                                     I'm on  my way....;)))

Waiting for my other fabrics to arrive....four more grays and four more browns...

(The two on the right are the start of the third big block across)
I am planning 3 across and 4 down for a decent size lap quilt with added borders...

I am not sewing anything together until I make all 12 Big ones (48 little squares) to see how
they'll play together...

These surely mirror our skies and dark trees....

It seems like we just get short bursts of the sun--
                                                                 just enough to assure us
                                                   that it's still up there.....;~{{...
Company coming tomorrow , so will most likely not get to sew....this is a no deadline, slow project...

I hope you are all escaping the flu

                                                     Our skies this morning .....
grey, grey clouds and dark brown branches....

Even more ominous...but beautiful in its smokey blue-grays
--it made me pause and look and look...
                                                    AND look again.
Then B A M , SHAZAM...
It led FROM this:

I decided to not fight "City Hall" so to speak....the recipient likes low volume colors--so,
the Red/Gold "in your face" colors were never going to work out...
                                                   this must be why
I couldn't get myself to the machine to work on them...
sometimes there's a reason why you hesitate and balk...

So, I spent the morning using Go! Baby to cut this mess of strips:

AND: to then work --happily and feeling like I had finally found my direction :

I am using an old, grungy fabric for the base and strip stringing--I feel as if a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders ;~)))) --I guess you have to follow your instincts and
listen when you think "Now, why can't I even want to sew at all...on this project??"
                                            The Heart Knows.....💖💖💓
And because I have chosen to work in these colors, I found that I have only a paltry few
neutrals in my stash--geeze Louise, I guess I've never made blocks in neutrals....

Soooo, I mean I HAD to go to equilter and order 4 more 1/2 yds of grays and 4 of browns....such a shame--
boo-hoo😂😉 (right, it was such fun after not buying any fabrics for 6 months or so!!).

Hubster (in his weakened condition, lol) agreed that this was the better way to go with neutrals --also his favorite colors or non-colors as I like to think of them--;*)))
and said:
"Oh sure, go ahead, get what you need.." [Seriously, not that he ever complains, but I do have a closet full of fabrics--just not in these colors...]

And so, I did.
And so, I'm back on track.
And so, I'm so EXCITED to be sewing and loving it...

In our family this is called "American Chop Suey" and it is delish...
The patient  requested this for our dinner tonight...;~))) .

It is a mix of browned ground sirloin [with any xtra fat drained off],
macaroni(cooked ahead al dente about 5 min.-- as it finishes cooking in the pan),
onions, one can of diced tomatoes, a bay leaf, pinch of basil and tarragon, and extra tomato sauce or water if it gets too thick--as it simmers for about 1.5 hours. )

Both my Grand-mere and my Mom made this on a regular basis...all we add is a
garlic bread and we are good to go...

I hope your Sunday dinner is delightful--we are not football fans so we will be watching
something on Acorn tv this evening...with our tummies full of yummy-ness....😋.

The beginning of my Christmas hexagon project....I received many inquiries
as to what this was, what it would be etc....so a good conversational
opener, too.

This is how my driveway looked on Thursday  morning when we took off:

All icey -----along with a snow-laden landscape....

My little blue spruce encased...

Bare branched roses

Snow-ey dried plants...

Here is my latest setting of my string blocks with a red center as opposed to the yellow center...which do you like better?

(I only had two done at this point...but you get the idea...)

I like the red center--not so "in your face"

And I may also do green with the golds...as an alternating block...

We are home and the patient is really coming along well....
Making soup for dinner on this frigid Saturday....

Hugs and thanks to all of you for your prayers and good wishes,
Julierose, La Blageuse (glad it's over-euse)
