JELLY ROLL JIVE JOURNEY, et al

Yesterday I opened my very old  blue batiks
jelly roll; (click to see color chart)
and separated all the shades
using
↧↧↧↧
Rose's  published tutorial on the Moda website...
and separated and cut per instructions...

And this morning....

I sewed that l o n g --l o n g-- long
first row following her instructions...

I am a bit "squirrel-ey" after that
sewing stint--but, I did take a couple of
breaks and used pen and paper to
check off where I was.

P H  E  W  !!!!

Tomorrow I shall iron all those seams open...
[and then most likely take a little nap;)))]

I am using this jelly roll as a "test run"
before I use my cherished
"Whimsey Wonderland" jelly roll and
charm pack...
I need to SEE 👀👀👀
how it turns out...

I made a regular jelly roll race
with the cheddar and blue roll
and it's okay, but not really
to my liking:
It's okay, but I don't like how the colors
all got "glommed" together...👿
I may cut this into placemats....or
something...
😥😩😬😭

Anyhow, I began searching for different
ways to sew a jelly roll after this..
and one
without a whole lot of cutting
because
I feel if you are using a pre-cut
why
cut it a lot more????
and...
I came up with Rose's tutorial.

I saw the lovely strippy quilts she had
made on her blog...and felt I would
like to try to make one for myself.
My own lap quilt which I have used
for 12 years is beginning to really show
its age....so, I want another for
my daily use...

At first reading of her tutorial I was all "at sea";
but after  CAREFUL re-readings a few
times I began to understand it better.

And so, this is a test case in progress...

STAY TUNED....

Snow Days
Schools closed both yesterday and today...
We got 20+" from the blizzard!!
Tom pushed the snow away from our sliding
glass door and our front and garage doors..
that made us feel better until
and our plow guy could come and clear
the driveway and our front walk.

Our street has only had one plow run and
our Town crew is pretty pressed to get all
our streets cleared out...I hope the 4 of them
were able to spell each other...

You can see how the snow drifted
right up to our windows here,,,

It is still only in the high 20's today --so not much
melting going on despite the bright sunshine...

AND......
The forecast is for more snow tomorrow...
will this Winter ever ease up?????

It's been a good ten years since we've had
to deal with these snowfalls...

I hope wherever you are if you had to deal
with these blizzard conditions that you all
came out safely...
