PLUM CRAZY

Here is a test run of my adventure in Crazy Quilting.....I signed on for the CQJP2014 project which runs for the whole year--one block per month.....(this one will not be included--it's just a trial for myself--when I saw the work online during the year on their site, I sort of went CRAZEE --had these dreams of fanciful blocks full of laces, ribbons and stitches, shell buttons, ephemera-- you name it!....and so...I began to try out new stitches...............

......................and

HERE, TOO:
For this underwater scene I drew-stitched (as I went along) some ocean floor flora.  This was such fun choosing threads and making it up on the fly!! I think this will be a little pillow...

I am planning out my theme for January-December 2014; tomorrow I go to JoAnnes to buy muslin backing to stitch on.

Hugs to all from this frigid Friday--
P.S.  Everyone @ my son's has awakened with the flu this morning--sick all night long....so we are going to my daughter's instead of to MA this morning....
you just never know......Julierose, La Blageuse

TUESDAY BLUES AND TUESDAY JOYS

Today, I made the reverse for my Christmas Cactus wall hanging from these three blocks I made quite a while ago.  I really like how they came out ;--))).

Here's the very last bit of my favorite "Dancin' Crow" that I used for Fiona's play quilt...

AND....

This really old Mr. Man in the Moon print...and, and....

This Spring-ey Tulip print that I so wish I had more of.....

AND...

WHooooo
is that peeking out???

So you can mix modern prints and oldies I guess

or at least...

I like it!!

The border is sooo vintage that lovely soft blue with the vines...

{After a tough visit to my Mom today, I needed to perk myself up---}                 and....
This did it for sure...I may even like this side better than the medallion......and....
it's just little bits and pieces and leftovers all scrapped together..
What.fun on a cold, wet, blustery, gray afternoon here in SE CT...see ya,

I AM GOING CRAZEE

Here are my fledgling attempts to embroider and embellish my first Crazee block:
"Sea Flower Girl":

I am trying out some new stitches and also nettings...

It is such fun work; very improvisational....I do keep worrying about "over-do-ing"--but I guess crazy quilters keep on adding and adding (from pix I've seen) --beads and buttons, dangling things....so VERY different from the flat surfaces I've done. I just take a deep breath, gaze (for a VERY long time) and add something else....hopefully it'll all pull together.  I am thinking about --dreaming about, starfish, octopi, blue crabs, seaweed, mermaids...even craving salty snacks...oh my....LOL)...
