MY READING LIST, et al

Here's my stack of books to be read...
Being an avid reader, I like to have
a nice stack ahead...
{click to enlarge if you wish}

And...
right now I am reading:
I think that this "44 Scotland Street" series
is so much fun...I will be ordering
the next two when my stack gets
too low...šŸ˜ŠšŸ˜‚

*****************************
Here is the finished 5th page
of my 60th Anniversary Fabric Journal:
[I am going to have find a good
title for this:  perhaps---
"Through The Years?"]
The crocheted lacey bit across the bottom
is a piece left over from
my Grand-mere's
work that I coffee dyed...
I am finally happy with
how this
came out..
representing our home
in the Berkshires;)))

***********************
A N D...
This is what's going into the oven
this morning:

All the leftover bread crusts and stale
hot dog/hamburg rolls all chopped up,
[I hate food waste of any kind!!]
sprinkled with olive oil and spices.

These will go into a 250 degree
oven for one hour to crisp up;
 then cool completely
before I store them in jars to be
used on our salads...
Y  U  M  !!!!!

*************************
We do have a little bit of color
from our one little maple tree
in the back off our deck:
I really just love that reddish-pinky color and would love to find
fabric in those variegated colors.....

****************************
This morning after my 25 minute treadmill
walk, I sat down and finished Kantha
stitching the 9 patches on my
"Dark Days" piece....
Now for the yo-yo's and little florets...

It is coming along....

We are enjoying a beautiful Autumn day here
with a 60 degree temp and sunny skies...
šŸ’›I do love Fall...šŸ’›

CHRISTMAS OJOS, et al

I've just finished stitching the center Ojos
this afternoon....
***********************************************
And:
LšŸ‘€šŸ‘€k what has arrived
at our Big Y:
We had them for breakfast this morning
[pronounced "push-key"];)))

They bring back memories of my
Polish Aunt Sadie who
made them for us every year
before Lenten Season...
Our favorite flavor is
Bavarian Cream...
***************************
Candice brought me a lovely
Christmas bouquet--and
these are still in pretty
good shape:

Aren't those mauve-y pink roses
just beautiful...?

********************************
We've just finished watching the final
Episode of
"The Crown"
and so,
I've begun reading this:

And finding it quite fascinating....
A totally different point of view
on the Royals....

***************************
I must take out my Bramble central block
now that Audrey's next
prompt has come out.

I need to begin
to think about Borders, colors, and
1/4 sq triangle block corners....

I have kind of lost my way on this after
such a long break....

So I will be pulling out
my fabric stack
and seeing:
"Now, what was I thinking?"

IS IT SOUP YET?

                               From these ingredients...

                                        Emerged these
                                  BUT............it's not Suppe yet...
                                         still simmering...

             ["Julierose is makin' stone soup;
              Dicing the veggies she got from the group;
Are you all wonderin' what will be in her pot?
                                  WELL......
You'll just have to stay tuned
             To see what she's wrought."]

               This is only step one...........;)))

 *******************************************

On the reading front a new series to me...an absolutely hilarious and
charming read...I highly recommend this book.....

Look at this lovely bookmark that Jacky made
                            for me....
                                            love it, Jacky...šŸ’“šŸ’œ
********************************************
My latest Diamond Painting --also simmering...
a cheery Sunflower for these cold, gray days....

I slept in this morning until 8:45--thanks to staying up with a sinus drip cough
until 2:00 a.m. ;000

Eventually, I gave in and took an Allegra and then
I actually fell asleep in my chair reading...and so to bed....
**************************************************

Off to do some errands today before the snow begins..........
it is quite chilly and windy outside today and looks like
tomorrow will be a snow-out...or icey rain-out
...dicey (hahaha get it??) weather, anyway....

READING, QUILTING, GARDENING

                                                    HELLO, KITTY;))) & Peeps ;)))

I want to make each of my two little grandgirls one of these in pixilated form--using 1" squares...
Cute Kitty...this is on my list --maybe for Christmas shhhh..... We'll see.
But, I digress (again!!)
******************************************************************
Now for what I am currently reading:

One of my very favorite authors is Rosamunde Pilcher--
and I just got her  "Coming Home".
I really love her writing style; and she pens a good, long
book to get lost in...
{my paperback copy is 977 ppgs long...YAY!!}

I read her "Shell Seekers" before and instantly fell in love with her
storytelling-- the kind of story where you really want to know what happens
to the characters and hate it when it ends....

I usually read British mysteries (actually I devour them so fast that I cannot
seem to find anymore-- and have re-read all of the ones
I own more than once!!).

So,
I am now waiting for Ellie Griffiths'  "Ruth series"  next book and also Ann Cleeves' Shetland Series...to come out in paperback---

Meantime, this is a nice change for me; and, I see that Pilcher has written a lot of novels...(doing my happy dance)--
I love it when I see a whole range of books ahead of me...
*****************************************************

On the quilting front:

I have finished quilting Oasis and trimmed it up ready for binding which I cut this morning...as you can see, I just did a wavey line--and I really like
how it came out...[it is such a gorgeous breezy day here at last!!]

Here is the back--I used Moonshine by "Free Spirit" fabrics...

In my usual Christmas-type holiday reverse style...
I love the colors in this one...
I had it on hand in my backing box...another serendipitous event!!

I am hand quilting my 4th Dresden right now--I usually work on them in the evenings while watching the Red Sox.

and look what came out with all of our rain:

My Bleeding Hearts--a gift of two tiny sprigs last Autumn from my gardening
friend Jean...hasn't it just taken well??? So old fashioned and so lovely, thank you Jean B.

And my lettuce has really been moving along--even just in this pot on my deck:

Two yummy varieties...I will take selective cuttings for our sandwiches and
salads and hope they will continue to grow throughout the summer...

I also planted some saved marigold seed from last year in front and I found a
packet of Aster seeds that I hope wintered over in my back fridge...
Little by little I am getting into my Spring mode--now to move all my long
sleeved shirts to the back and bring forth the short ones...

Tonight I am making American Chop Suey for dinner with a small side
salad for us both...
hugs from sunny, warm (at least for now) SE CT  a blessing of a day...
Julierose, La Blageuse

P.S. Bonnie Hunter (at Quiltville) is doing a Snowball 9-patch BUT,  her snowballs are string pieced--be still my heart--I may have to do one of those..I love how hers is looking with blue/yellows and neutrals...I just watched her quilt cam--love her and her stuff...take a visit to be inspired...;)))

RAINY DAY BASTING THOUGHTS

I'd forgotten just how relaxing basting a quilt in preparation for hand quilting can be;
we are (finally!) having a day of good, soaking rain here.  Mom's Poms will be ready for hand quilting soon....meanwhile, i am "wool gathering" with the sound of the rain as my music.....

Here is the lovely plant that Cathy and Dave sent me upon hearing of Mom's passing--
isn't it GORGEOUS??
Geraniums, begonias and a sword fern....those colors remind me of Mom's joy in living and
that sword plant--just a few prickles to show she was human....;--00,;--)))

I'll be slowly basting, a little at a time, with respites for my back; that is my only project for the week.

I am RE- reading "Ageless Body, Timeless Mind" by Deepak Chopra
....................................... and balancing it with .....................................

Laurie R. King's "The Language of Bees"--a Sherlock Holmes/Mary Russell mystery ...

.and...........................

knitting my 2nd pair of socks....
.
and so life moves on.....

hugs, Julierose, La Blageuse
