AIDE-MEMOIRE
What was set up for the Surprise quilt has been transformed into
VOILA!!!
a Nouveau Ladies workshop.
(NOTE TO MY READERS:
This post is mainly to remind me of how I'd like to set up the borders.... Feel free to skip if you are not into this stuff.....;--)))) )
Couched ribbons with little rosettes holding down each corner and holding the ends...
You get the idea....let's hope I will....
{as a side note..........and a memory..........}
....... here is my Mom's old Sewing Basket that she rescued from a flea market and
painted and lined:
It has become the repository for my Crazy Quilting supplies and unfinished blocks...
she was a precise person and this turned out beautifully....
See the lining--an old favorite fabric of mine. She took apart the innards of this basket somehow (I am definitely not good at that stuff!) and then re-tacked it with tiny nails inserting that liner. perfectly neatly...yep--that's her work alright!!
Every time I sew on my Nouveau Ladies I think of her working on this.....
Here is my little "cheat sheet" and some of my laces that i got from Raviole Dreams on Etsy...a few years back....
AND
i had to use this beautiful hand dyed heart on the left side to match..................
this nouveau kind of fleur-de Lis on the opposite.
So Ladies, i have my hand work cut out for me for the Summer.
Thanks for stopping by...think of me on my back deck couching those ribbons....a definite challenge....
hugs, Julierose, La Blageuse ( And..."Still crazy after all these years"....)

GEORGIE PEORGIE SMELLS THE ROSES & MORE
I changed the large squares so that Mr. George could stop and smell the roses lol!
I am trying out different large blocks to surround His Excellency!
I'd like to fancy that his wife must have had a rose garden and that he took the time to stop and enjoy the attar of roses.....
I think I like these as well as the black with red roses blocks; I will use both in my quilt but I somehow think that this will be the center of it....
I need to cut out more large blocks and {sigh} more nine patch squares.....
Here's a closer look at those prints.....
AND:
I have made up a little list of "Things I'd Like To Make" over these next many months....
1) Georgie Peorgie ;
2) Lozenges;
3) Kitty Kats; (I haven't as yet decided on fabrics for these....)
4) Some kind of Log Cabin As-You-Go...to learn the process; and
5) Are you ready for this one?? A Christmas themed Postage Stamp Quilt--using up all those mini charm packs I have collected. I will be using 2.5" squares--
Now this ought to keep me busy and yet not bored....and hopefully won't freeze me up....am I being too ambitious? Perhaps......
AND...I haven't forgotten this one up on my design wall either:
I have to decide if I should use sashing or not, this is the one I have to leave up and try to figure out what I want/need to do to it....I want to use it as a wall hanging over our wine cabinet in our re-done dining room. I think the colors will be right in there....we'll see.

NOVEAU LADIES DEUX
Noveau Dame Avec Chapeau...this Lady has a headdress and ; I think she may need a few other things, but for right now I am adding her to my design wall and thinking about her...
My good friend MaryHam (LOL) gave me a whole slew of buttons from her past sewing days and here I have used the purples....
Perhaps some falling blossoms scattered about ..but just not really sure what else to add....
Today I also did some CUTTING for my next endeavor:
Four and 1/2" blocks for the nine patches, 3 and 1/2" squares (using my accuquilt die for these) and some 9 1/2" blocks ....
a WHOLE LOT pf these babies to be sewn...
LOTS and Lots.....1/2 dark and 1/2 lighter....to make the mirror image 9-patch blocks using "Fun With Barb"'s technique.....I am liking it. BUT
Tell me, could it be my eyes (older than dirt as they are!!), my cutting--but I am very careful, my ruler, my 1/4" seam allowance (or what passes for it on Helga)--they sometimes come out perfect and other times.....not so much...aaargh!
Well, hangin' in with them--have 14 little 9 patches made so far--a long way to go.....
Hugs to all, Julierose, La blageuse (not enjoying this incoming humidity!!)

SATURDAY ---SNIPPIN' AND STITCHIN'
A lot of you have shown an interest in my "Noveau Ladies" that I put up again on my design wall last post. I had stopped doing the hand embroidery as the heavier decorator and velvet etc. fabrics were too hard to sew through and hurt my hands...
BUT: voila!! A solution I thought.....
And: Since it got SO very hot and humid this afternoon and I couldn't really crochet with "Christmas" wool--I mean REALLY!!-- I did this!
I had pieced all of these gals on muslin foundations when I joined the CQJP2014 group online. (I've since dropped out as I thought there was no way I could finish these...and that made me very sad). BUT WAIT A SEC!!!....hmmmmm
SO, gals: I snipped out the centers, leaving a small +/- 1/4" border around the seam lines for stability. I hope that this will work out as I want to do this project for hot summer days to come.....
I do so love to embroider--it takes me back to sitting with my Grand'mere; and her teaching me ga-zillions of stitches while sipping iced tea on her porch and trying to catch a cool breeze on hot summer afternoons. I do miss her "jolly" nature and willingness to patiently teach me so much....
hugs to you all--hope you're staying cool
