My finished Postage Stamp block for this month....lotta red REDS!! LOL

                                     "Red sails in the sunset...."
yikes, looks like this sailboat is floating sideways  (oops!!)

"...Can she bake a cherry pie, Billy boy, Billy boy,
Can she bake a cherry pie charming Billy...."

                                "It's the Japanese Sandman......"
I was thinkiong of all these old tunes as I sewed up this block..

I am hooking up with superscrappy today--drop in to see what
we RSC-ers are up to this "red" month of July.......

The latest on Fi's quilt is that I have quilted all along the width and am set up for the length--I don't need a lot of quilting; just enough to hold it securely
as the front was QAYG-ed.  Hauling that big quilt (big for me, anyway)
through Helga really puts a strain on my shoulders and arms....but it is nice
to see a finish nearing......

.....AND THEN YE OLD BACK WENT OUT!!

SO, the backing is sewn together--all Christmas-ey
and the top is rolled and waiting to be laid out tomorrow--

AND then it's.......................

                                                            PIN PIN PIN

Here is a little teaser of the reverse side of that center panel: LOL

                                           IT IS SOOOO  DARN CUTE!!

Even though my dining table isn't really wide enough, it is pretty long and the best spot
[that is NOT on the FLOOR] ;--)))
for me to layer my quilts.  I use Elizabeth Hartman's method of rolling the top and the batting together ....it works for me....

And so now I am off to ice my back and to do today's crossword puzzle....

And here are my reds set up ready to be sewn in 2-sies!!
(Wrong sides up). Linking up with superscrappy . Go and see what everyone is doing with their reds....amazing!!

That's as far as I have gotten this month after all that has happened
in our lives since Mom's passing....

I have yet to finish June's little Ojo Di Dios block, too....well I guess
that is what December is for...right?? Right!

Hot, humid and rainy today--a good day to sew these up and start the back for Fi's quilt; my fabric arrived yesterday --and wouldn't you know--I don't like
what I chose somehow...instead:
I am using other fabrics from my Christmas Stash...

Fiona will be 4 this Fall and I am trying to not choose anything too baby-ish and yet not too adult....I keep on laying out pieces and auditioning them
yes, no, yes, NO!! Back and forth...I hate when I get this way.....(control freak or what??) Anyhoo...enough blabbing for today...
Off to the machine..
hugs and happy weekend...

VOILA!!! (2/3rds done)

And we have a 2/3rds flimsy (as it is already quilted AND
...all I have to do is make and add the backing, binding & label...YAY!!

I love how nice the back came out.  I will re-press those opened seams
 before adding  the backing.

I used two resources in making this quilt and I HIGHLY recommend both:

This book

(which I bought on Amazon--I mostly learn from books and blogs and have
never taken any classes.....I like to study a method while watching tv at night  to see if I think I can do it!!)

"Quilt As-You-Go Made Modern" by Jera Brandvig--a terrific book.  Her instructions,
tips and presentation of different patterns are just fantastic.  Thanks Jera!

And Maureen's Blog...her tutorials on QAYG are excellent and actually inspired me
to try this method as I have a difficult time quilting a large quilt. I follow her blog and love her posts....

I will call this:
                                                  "FIONA'S FOREST FAIRIES" quilt;

Fi is enchanted by  those cute little statuettes of fairies and elves and
has her own little garden spot where she plays with them and makes up stories that happen to them....how cute and imaginative.....

On the home front----
Sad to say we are bringing our sweet 'Kota back to Jeff's today--I will miss her so much!!
She was a wonderful "perk-me-up" for me.....

Hugs to all

Mom's Poms is together....I see that some of them are swaying in the breeze (LOL= not exactly straight!);--))).....

I am in the process of making another version as I LOVE this pattern...hopefully the next one's stems and leaves will turn out a bit better.....
And so...I am deeming this one a Primitive Version....lol
AND  Poms is being put on hold while I finish up:

                                                     Fi's Forest Fairies quilt....

A closer view of this lovely Michael Miller fabric that
I am using for the four border sections

I love how the hydrangeas  give this quilt an "Old Fashioned" flair

Quilting away this afternoon on the top border.....each one is 52.5" x 13"--so
they take about 1.5 hrs to get QAYGo-ed......I find this process very relaxing and good
therapy right now....a little Chopin on my radio, a cup of Chai and many memories floating
through my head....good recipe for me today....5 weeks now....time marches on.....

Darling Kota is now watching her favorite Red Sox and favorite Yankees go head-to-head
(Jeff is a Red Sox fan and his wife, Lin, is a Yankee fan) --so Kota is kind of                               conflicted....hahaha,,,

I hope you are enjoying this lovely Sunday....my DH is out mowing the lawn and tomorrow we have friends coming for a bbq...I am trying to keep busy....
hugs to all

                                             A while back..
I can't believe it's been over a month now...there is no "getting used to"

But, here is Fiona at the beach having a "warm up"...this day helped me a lot.

And what do i see under there....??? ;--))))

My grandchildren are sustaining me.....Mom loved them dearly, too.

I am moving along with Fi's quilt, on the second side border now...this helps too....

Hugs to all, (still in resting mode)
