CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS IS MY IRONING BOARD COVER???
I think it's time for a new one....duh....
*************************************************************************
LOOK WHAT BARB AT wont-to-bequilter.blogspot.com sent me--a lovely glove to protect
me while rotary cutting...if you go to her blog, you can see how she had an awful accident
while rotary cutting...
(Thank you so much Barb, for thinking of me....I will be definitely using this)
***************************************************************
I am coloring this lovely colorbook page....so relaxing and fun....when not reading or quilting I turn to my coloring for relaxation....
And then......
I have this whole box of 4-patches.....left overs from a swap a few years ago....
now what to make with them all...that is the burning question for today......any suggestions
out there guys?????
*************************
AND.....
Helga began acting up again this morning---- aaargh!!
So, I brought her over to my repair guy,Pete.
And of course, when I got her over there, she behaved beautifully...no chattering or skipping stitches...he had me stitch and looked carefully at the bobbin case, and the bobbins themselves...
Pete was very patient with both me and Helga....
AND
He came to the conclusion after an hour of test sewing, that my bobbins are winding too tightly
and pushing the bobbins out of size so that they are too large.
so will be winding new bobbins differently...
Helga is now behaving very well..(I think she just wanted to get back at me for sending her
away for 2 weeks...ya think???) ;0000
**********************************************
I am planning on continuing with my baskets and
figuring out all those 4-patches...that is..............
what to do with them...I think something simple like alternating squares....

JUNE MINUS 4 DAYS, ET AL
Our month of June minus the last four days...
(Greens being 50's, gold's 60's and oranges 70's)
I am linking up with sarah did it for her weekly group of temp quilters....
So four more days to be added to this line up....I must say that I am not really
enamored with the Paper Pieces' card that they use for the shapes--too heavy -- and
I really am not fond of the glue basting--I am finding it difficult to stitch into the edges....
I will make my own elongated hexies out of my usual freezer paper
(using the PP ones as templates) and go back to hand basting for July....SLOWER
BUT EASIER ON MY HANDS AND MUCH MORE RELAXING.....
**************
FYI:
STAY TUNED hexagon lovers if you like PP templates........
I will be having a little Hexagonia Giveaway soon of all my various sizes of hexagons from
Paper Pieces--(only reserving one of each so that I can trace my own on freezer papers.)
Let me know in the comments below if any of you would be interested....

Tomorrow Helga is going on a rejuvenation SPA visit to be tuned up; it's been 7 years'
worth of sewing and quilting and her teeth are chattering (;{{{{) very loudly and she's
just needing to be massaged back into working order....Sooo, I am machine-less for a bit as
my repair guy is on vacation this week....
********************************************************
In other news, I am trying out various watercolor pencils and Inktense pencils in my
various coloring books....very relaxing and joyous...
though I am making mostly a big mess!! But that is part of the learning
process....

Here is the reverse of my 1st Christmas Baskets wall hanging ready to be quilted..
I really love this Reindeer material (makes my heart jump for joy when I
look at it! )........................ ;)))
and I even have enough for the 2nd basket piece's revers side...
One of these two will be gifted...to whom, you may ask, welllll
that is a S E C R E T for now.....
I put this one together "envelope style" (see the pinned area turned in on the bottom
where I turned it after pulling it right side out?). So this piece is waiting for
Helga's vacation to be over so I can quilt it; meanwhile I am trying to decide
how I want to quilt it....

Today our weather is just perfect--cooling breezes and a blue and gold day like I recall
from my childhood ............
(don't we all remember those long ago lazy
Summertime days so free of worry and stress?
I know I think back on them often--
seeing myself stretched out on a little hillside ,,,,,,
just watching the big puffy white clouds shape shifting
and just "BEING").
I will be back posting after a small break while Helga is on her rejuvenation trip....

RAINY THURSDAY'S BASKET COUNT
I was just able to scooch out two more backgrounds from my toile so I can have nine.
Sooo, two more of the light blue fruit fabric....
I am really enjoying making these baskets...I am even getting used to the handles...
(not that they're all perfect by any means!) they are liberated for sure.
And I love the frolicking in the background ...;)))). Somehow that toile just goes with the basket thing in my mind.

FLY LIKE AN EAGLE...
Here is the beginning of my "Fly Like an Eagle" journey in applique.
I found this pattern in Sarah Fielke's book and loved its simplicity--uhhh..and also not a
lot of pieces for a neophyte appliquer...;}}} I will be showing how I do--warts and all..
I plan to do prepared applique as needleturn makes my stomach clench in knots...for some strange reason...;???)
*******************************************************************************
AND....
I am taking a break from the Coin Toss series (will be backing and quilting Midnight Garden
next--and pondering what in the heck to do with the other two sets that is different!)
Soooo,
In the meantime, ("...in between time, ain't we got fun..")
Here are the first 3 liberated baskets I've made: Fruits and Flowers
I am using up the last (sob, sob!!) of my beloved toile print as a background ....
On the left basket the handles didn't remain where they were told to stay--they bowed outside the edges (bad handles!! Naughty bias!!) and so I will applique a few leaves and cherries to uhhh ....cover up their errant ways...hahaha they will definitely be .......
L I B E R A T E D....;))))
I have 3 more cut out and ready to sew...those handles really have a mind of their own...
but I think I can "Handle" (groan) them.....
Hope you are all enjoying this holiday...we are--I am so glad to have the
hubster home....;)))
hugs

A Tisket, A Tasket....I've Got These Weird-Sized Baskets....
Well, as you can see, my "liberated baskets" really flew into many shapes and sizes...
I do like the way they turned out and I like this method of free cutting and piecing (Gwen Marston style) B U T ..now I have to puzzle out how to fit them together. Last night I measured them all
FUN: 11 1/2 x 5 1/8 , 6 1/4 x 5 1/8 etc etc... and labeled them in 3 rows of five each....
I only have a limited amount of the toile left--soooo, I guess it will be "cutting and pasting" fabric style--if only I could learn to do that on my blog I could get some buttons onto my blog, too--
I think the F O G here on the CT shore has invaded my brain...
I HAVE actually finished a lot of projects in past years and
Here are a few shots of a wallhanging I made in honor of my cat "Clara Schumann--aka Schumee" who passed into kitty heaven a few hears ago.
Thank you for coming to ma maison-- P.S. Mom is bearing up pretty well, I figure if she is irritated, she must be feeling a bit better anyway....
