FEELIN' BETTER; AND, LIFE MOVES ON......

Here's my little darling during our baby/dog sitting week.....she is getting soooo big: "I am not a goo-goo-gaa-gaa baby!  I'm a BIG GIRL!"  she tells us....

Our lives have returned to what passes for normal around here...except that I thought I had a bad cold that just hung on and on and the MD told me --NOPE!  Two massive ear infections and bronchitis...sooo, back on prescription for another 10 days...
Hearing only from inside your head (both ears blocked up totally) is a very disorienting experience.  I see the leaves moving, but cannot hear them--things like that.  AND driving is a totally weird experience.  I can't hear the cars.... WHOA, NELLIE!  But enough about the perils of Julierose....

I have finally been able to go into my sewing room to do a few things:

Remember those scrappy blocks I made before...well, they are a little too bright for me right now--just too riotous for how I am feeling....amazing how our fabric choices really reveal our moods...; I decided to use a semi-controlled scrap base and came up with these....

AND:

This one...etc.  They are mindless and fun to do, sew strips one day, trim the next and then sew 4 together...a little bit at a time (as I tire so easily..)

Also, at night, working on finishing up my hexagon table runner...this is the middle section:

AND I made a tentative "pull" for my new hand project when this one is finished:  

I do think it "needs" something else--a spark of something...  

I will close with a giant thank you to all of you who sent your good wishes along to me.  It really helped...now that we have had some closure, we are trying to get back normalcy...

ON THE WALL-AT LAST

Here hangs my very first hexagon project; all hand quilted and finally up in my living room;

here you can see the left-over pieces I used to make this one up...separately it really looks kind of strange, don't you think?  But on the whole piece it really (surprisingly) blends in very well...

I just received two pkgs of freezer paper sheets--previously (and for what seemed like forever to me) I had been using just regular food store variety freezer paper off the roll and battling its tendency to curl up.  

I am still busy on my table topper:

I am plugging away at the back which is purples/greens...it's at the point where I am putting the long strips together and kind of unwieldy, but I am determined to finish it up and try sewing the two pieces together on my machine....

BEACH-EY DAY BLUES

My RSC13 May blues have turned out to be little beach huts....I have made 15 of them and plan to make....well, what I really don't know.  I have to figure out a setting for them as yet.  right now they are beckoning me from my design wall. The problem is that the Real Beach near our home is also calling me....it's so lovely here right now.  Outside is the place to be!

Today looks like a deck day for us...so I will most likely be working on more of these:

 Only four more rows to finish--yay!  Uh...that is actually 82 more hexies to be sewn--and I may have to cut some more...I am running our of purple pansies..
But, not to worry--I will search the stash and the scraps and eke out something....

DORA, DORA :Some Progress (Counted Cross Stitch Post) & HEXAGON-ORAMA

Here is the outlining border of my Sampler -- I know it doesn't look like much--BUT:  This took me 1 1/2 weeks to set up, measure and stitch (if you click on pix, you can see just how teeny-weeny those little crosses are!)

And Here is my first alphabet letter: "a" done in that yummy red--just dark enough, and not too orange-y!

Trying to find "WHERE" to begin the letter took two nights of poking, counting and putting it down and coming back!!  When I used to do needlepoint, we pre-marked our penelope canvas to aid counting; here those tiny cross threads remain blank--aaargh!

I AM enjoying the stitching a whole lot.  It is a nice change from quilting.

I have cut more hexies (addict, that I am!!) and am making a backer for my hexie table topper the exact same size as the original; then, I will put my pre-cut hexie batting pieces on the back of the front (LOL) and quilt the whole thang together!! (YAY for my GO! BABY cutter which cut through the batting like butter!) .  I will post pix next time--able to use some of my RSC13 scraps of green on these, too.  

My B-day is coming up and DH suggested that I get a few more dies for the GO as his gift to me.  I am ordering today!  (I am not one to shilly-shally on that offer!!).
