DECIDING (?)--SUNDAY THOUGHTS

I've decided I am going to "enjoy" tying my "Blues-ey" quilt & just take my time.  Slowly....admiring all those old fabrics that recall my other quilts..(.the backing I've turned over is an all-time favorite, just a little bit left now....)...bits and pieces of the past....shards of memories tiling in my thoughts......

Can you "decide" to enjoy ???  I think so...making carefully tied taut knots; ; ; snipping the ends carefully...humming ...an old song running through my mind that my father used to play so beautifully on the piano....hearing my Mom singing along....in my young days...falling asleep to those wonderful, comforting sounds of home.

What do you think?  Can you decide to enjoy???

BLUES-EY RETURNS

I finally finsihed (!!), straightened and bordered "Blues-ey" this afternoon; I tried out about four different borders (ribbit, ribbit--bleh!!) . Decided that this one picked up the scrappy blue toile inside....this has turned out to be a LOT BIGGER than I had planned:  duh:  62" long by 50" wide....

Here are a few of those favorite old fabrics I used & the border:

I've had a lot of these scraps hanging around since the 70's!!

Don't you love that wild daisy?  And of course my music fabrics....

I am happy with my outcome--when I realized JUST HOW MANY PIECES I had to cut and sew, I never in the world figured I'd finish this...(welll, almost--the top is DONE).

NOW for the backing....(hmmm, I wonder how long that will take, hehehehe)
AND: TA-DA:
Here is my newest grand-doggie dozing on his Grandad's lap: She just loves him to pieces....

And with Miss Libby I will close for this time...

Sunday "Blues-ey" , et al

Well, Blues-ey----Together--at last--

It's a little crooked (Babe's arms were gettin' tired--off-dah!!)

THERE--a little better...This is the first quilt I've attempted with SOOOOO many little pieces--AND--I know I turned some of the blocks the WRONG WAY (aaargh!!) BUT....since it's just for my little cover-up--I decided to leave them (actually I didn't even see it until I took these pix!!  LOL); it's supposed to be diamond shapes --oh well...c'est la vie.

I have a question for you readers:  When you use templates (acrylic or other) do you personally trace around them and then cut with scissors or rotary cut?

I got these templates from Katy at "I'm A Ginger Monkey" a few weeks ago as I L-O-V-E-D this pattern--hexagons, you say--no, really (duh!!  ROTFLOL):

AND I plan to hand-piece it--hubby thinks I've finally, irretrievably and utterly "Lost It" big time
:--}} (he has a moustache--that's him guffawing away....)
this is why he N E V E R enters my quilting space:
and HE has NO idea just how much fabric is in there---but I digress...anyhooo...
.
Here's a pix of it "Spring Carnival":

Isn't it just yummy???

We are still awaiting that Nor'Easter that is supposed to bring us our much-needed rain. I keep humming..."Soon it's gonna rain, I can feeeel it, soon it's gonna rain, rain like h***"--uh, a few little lyric changes there...
Adieu mes amies--have a super Sunday--Julierose, La Blageuse

WINDY WEDNESDAY-BLUE-SY DANCIN'

Here's the top 1/2 of my "Blue-sy" quilt which I sewed totally as a "Leader & Ender" project:

(Here's a little tip: File Under" DO NOT START A QUILT WITH ONE MACHINE AND THEN.......
SWITCH TO ANOTHER PART WAY THROUGH!!)  BUT, ever the optimist, I am following Mary Ellen Hopkins' advice:  just center the smaller square on top of the larger one and stitch away--it'll all come out in the end....ROTFLOL...let's hope anyway:

A very scrappy, old fabric look here....like my "at home" look (heh heh);

And here is my new little project as Leader&Ender --they are little babies...I {heart} them:

"Bebe's got a new Bowtie":  yummy cheddar prints and dark flower & fruit prints...got lotsa these babes out in sets.

Am happily  quilting away on my "Diamonds are Forever" hexie--I think I've forgotten how to hand quilt tho'--it's been so long..

Time to do my "Rain Dance" (not a good visual-- LOL)--it is soooo dry here--we are in a constant "Red Fire Alert" here in SE CT.....  see y'all later...Julierose, La Blageuse

Blues-ey Tuesday Design Wall

This is only one possible setting--it kinda fades in and out:  from Bonnie Hunter's "Blue Ridge Beauty" pattern in her "Leaders and Enders Book; (I sewed this entirely during other projects using that method.)  I may shift the blocks around again--it is a tricky setting....

Here is my sewing station:  All set to sew more hst's and 4-patch pieces together.....tryin' to keep busy after a difficult visit with my Mom today in the Nursing Home....

AND  tonight I will be hand quilting my hexagons while watching tv with Tommy...(and perhaps a lil' glass of vino will be in order--ya think?).
