I LIKE # 31

I like this olive oil infused body cream for feet and hands
                                               in the cold Winter months
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
I like having this for breakfast on these cold days....

New to me this week...
But I usually like this brand...

Oooh nice and creamy and yummy.....a real
                                              "Stick to your Ribs" breakfast...
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
I like:
                                                     My 2nd cuppa--decaf....
Like this:
Topped with frothed 1/2 and 1/2.... in my
                                                      handmade pottery "Big Cup"

  &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
I like:
Starting a new craft (to me)...making fabric rope...can you tell I've been watching
Youtube (Darlene Michaud and Scraptastic Patchwork) while resting my arm....??;)))

                                                  &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
I like knowing February's color a bit ahead so I can set up and sort my bag
O'Oranges....
I am planning hourglasses and a new way (for me)
                                               to make pineapple blocks...↡↡↡↡

Here are a couple I couldn't resist trying...
                                                       these are the starting centers...

I know ahead of time ;0000--- {GASP}
it's still January ("It's Green, in January...")
& more songs
from olden times.....lol

[I do LOVE the old songs that my Father played on the
piano while  Mom sang along while I was upstairs in bed going to sleep....
wonderful childhood memories....
that's why I know all those words....]

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Finally I like using up the old free cut wedges from three years ago when I was trying
to do Improv Curves  ↣↣↣↣ ↓↓↓↓
Since they were all wonkified, it was a challenge to sew them together....
and
it's not really a circle, is it!! Hahahaha,,
it has a bulging part on the right...

I am just calling it an Improv Circle...works for me:)))
↴↶↷ AND
Yes, for you smarty pants out there--
I did use that gorgeous fabric from Dawn
I      Had          To....  I            just                    couldn't             wait...

                                                            And YES YES YES....I KNOW
                                                               Orange is for February, So:
                                                                MEA CULPA,,,,;0000

( "...send in The Cops--don't bother
                                             they're here..." ahahaha)

I love this pattern...so soft and pretty...
                                πŸ’–πŸ’–THANK YOU Dawnie!! πŸ’–πŸ’–
She and Dunkin (her kittycat) must have picked it out specially...
hence
that cute Kitty paper...;)) he is her special quilt inspector...

************************************************

I am getting my orange fabrics for February RSC all lined up.....

So this:

                                               Is now this↓↓↓↓
I have quite a few small pieces and some
cut offs and 3 or 4 charms in along with the really tiny pieces
I've saved from making my grandson Steven's "Going Away to
College" quilt....
ummm he is now a Junior at UCONN....so 3 yrs later.....;000

Orange is his favorite color...not so much mine...but then,
February is a short month lol...

GREENS-GOING GOING--GONE

My empty greens baggie...now all that's
left are those tiny bits all sewn
                                            into "at least "twosies" for
                                              a future "scrap vomit" quilt...

these are really tiny...but I loved sewing
                                them all together chain style....
My plan was to use up ALL the bright greens this month....

*************************************************
I need to take a few minutes here and there to iron them; and
then maybe sew them into a few pieces like these:
for a future crumb block piece...

I also found this larger leftover piece that I will store with them ....
I used up the rest of the little square border chains to surround this....
For the most part, I am done with the "sewin' of the greens" here....

**************************************************
This is what I am sewing this week--I am only sitting at my machine for
very short spurts...glad to be able to sew again....at least a little

I have always loved chevrons, but was so fearful of
making 1/2 sq triangles  (don't ask me why!)
that I never tried them...and now I am smitten....πŸ’–πŸ’“πŸ’–πŸ’
I began with some leftover layer cake squares...and these haven't
been trimmed up as yet...just sewn...
***************************************
                      and here⇓⇓⇓⇓
I DREW all THREE lines and just sewed on the lines....yes!! ;)))

Today i will be making some green ones...
It seems very elementary doesn't it,
but I had never thought about drawing sewing lines
before...duh...πŸ’ƒπŸ˜‚πŸ™
***************************************
We did see the sun for a bit today, but now the clouds are coming
in once more...I really think that this January has been the
grayest month in a long while...;(((

FINISHIN' O' THE GREENS

Green Monsta' is all together now...
Waiting for borders......
I have a few scraps leftover, but since I haven't been able to sew for
a week with my sore shoulder/arm problem they have been just
sitting there....;000

Not too many left
I may sew them two by two
and put them away toward a
scrappy piece later...

I was all set up to make some more, but.....instead
am waiting S * I* G * H*.....
Hooking up with Angela at [click to see all of our bright,
light green projects for January]
This is the last week to finish up...I am hoping to be able to
get back to sewing on Monday.....at least for little bits of time...
************************
And, of course the other "monstah" waiting around is ;000
Franken Quilt"; all ready to be hand quilted (sighing again).

I hope you are enjoying your Saturday sewing
Rainy day hugs from Julierose, La Blageuse (waiting-euse)

I LIKE # 30

I like: packages tied up with fabric ↻↻↻↻

                    that contain......        ↡↡↡↡
the last of my Christmas presents....
                   blues and purples from
                     Equilter....
I hope to use some of these in my Hexagon piece....

**********************************
And I like:
FINALLY, finally --finding my best method for making 1/2 square
                                                 Triangles...
Love that chevron pattern.....I began with 10" layer cake squares
thinking bigger is better....
and used the diagonally marked method--
but I  also marked the sewing lines on either side--
as it seems (seams lol) I cannot sew a
true straight line w/o them...;)))
                                         Whatever works, right??

*************************************
And this week, joining with all the other grateful sewists at Lee Anna's,
I also liked receiving:

This adorable drawing from Fiona in thanks for playing Monopoly
with her on their last visit here...
of course, she won--
not just letting her either--
she really beat us royally!! ;)))
Don't you just love this stuff???;)))

***************************************
More to like and be thankful for this week:
These yummy Snowflake rolls from our local Big Y...
                      our new favorite.....

******************************************
Not a like....but............↡↯↯↯↯............

Hubster posted this on my sewing room door.....as I wrenched my
right shoulder/arm while cutting through FOUR layers of batting
for Franken Quilt (it truly is a Monster!!) .....

And this has been extended to four days now...
but I do like---- and
I am thankful that it is getting better...
***************************

That is all from Mi Casa this week--

LAYERING FRANKEN-QUILT

Here is Franken-Quilt ready to be pinned...

First, I sewed the music fabric long strips on the backing this morning....
                                                      ↡↡↡
Ironing all the seams open so they wouldn't peek through
the white...and trimming evenly

Then got my batting out--and
of course!!
It was too small...phooey!!--so I cut a long 7"x 43.5" strip to the side
to make it long enough....zig-zagged it on and....
                                voila..just right!!
                                           ;))))

I had to get on the floor ---oof!---
(AND you do NOT need to see THAT picture believe me!) :'000

and  laid out the batting; and measured the
half way points on all my pieces...

Then I rolled the batting and the top together
so I could then unroll it in place on the backing
sitting, smoothed out on my dining table....

Phew--that's all for me today....

Tomorrow I will begin my pinning....

That's all from "Franken-ville" today lol

SEWIN' O' THE GREENS

The center panel of my RSC January bright greens
is sewn together...I have the two side panels
and that top area to work on...

My scraps are mostly little bits and pieces with a few usable
scraps left...

What looks  gold is really a green above...

I have a few of these little strippets left...

I love this little Flower Fairy scrap a lot...

Come and see what all we RSC-ers have made
                         so far this
                               January at:
                                                 So Scrappy (click to visit)

Hugs, Julierose, La Blageuse (still green-scrapping-euse)

FRANKEN-FINISHING

I've selected this really old (way down in the Christmas bin) cute
fabric for the center back of Franken-Quilt...Thus sealing its fate as
a complete Christmas piece....

I have tried using this fabric many times and
it never went with anything else--

So here I featured it as the main piece...

Of course, those curious Christmas puppies had to come and see
what was going on back there...lol

They wanted to play with the children...so I let them stay on...

And added a small border of darker green and pointsettias...

In the background we have music playing--a "side-note"  lol...

My morning was spent measuring and cutting to fit...

And (sigh) doing laundry,  [we are either the cleanest or
the dirtiest two people--laundry is always with us it seems...]

*************************************
After a well-deserved cuppa tea, I made us Tom's favorite
chicken and rice casserole...it will go in at 4 and be ready
for 5:30 dinnertime...
*****************************
And.............πŸ’¨
on this frigid day with windchills of
13-17mph we decided to stay inside..
a perk of retirement life--;))))
why go out unless you have to???

JANUARY JUGGLING

This is the latest distribution of my greens.....
I don't know if this is the final set up or not....
I plan to use some kind of coping strips
                                  to pull these together...
                                     looking for a coping fabric..
A Green Sampler in the making:)))

**********************************************
                        And here:    Some Strip Juggling..
↟↟↟
I used a Kaffee Fassett jelly roll and some of my own stash for spacers....
Having never made a Jelly Roll Race quilt before,
I have decided to make one to work on my strip piecing abilities....
                                        [After Franken-Quilt-- after all]

Using spacers from my own stash; and now....
                                                      Round One is finished....

I have used TWO full bobbins so far....so I spent the last hour of my afternoon
winding more bobbins...in preparation for the other rounds to come...

How is your January going???

Franken-sewing on of borders this morning...

{I had just enough Christmas Puppy fabric left to
                     piece together the top and bottom border pieces...}

And my ladies are happy now...

Ummm, can I relax
Now???

                                              I've been watching you....

Actually I'm the one who figured this out for you...

*************************************
Now for a backing ....onward....hopefully...
perhaps just one BIG piece of fabric?? LOL
