EAST-WEST DONE

I decided to do straight  (sort of hahaha) .....
line quilting on my Autumn Snowballs.

I managed the 16 rows in this direction this afternoon....and
Tomorrow I will be winding bobbins and giving my poor
shoulders a rest...
Hoping on Saturday to finish in the North-South direction
through the centers
again...

This took me 2.5 hours...my walking foot kept on jiggling out of
place--I think the screw hole for the ankle has worn down
through the years..I had to keep on tightening it...ugh....
Helga is aging, too, it seems...;000

Thom and I went to Big Y food shopping this morning hoping that I would be able to
NOT HAVE TO GO on Friday, Saturday or Sunday-- as I always seem to be running out of
something or other...

Leftovers tonight---from last night's Taco dinner--we mix the seasoned meat in with some
rice and have re-fried beans and salad on the side..easy and good with a few
x-tra shakes of  cumin and chili powder...YUM!!

HEXAGONIA HERE I COME

Since I won't be able to hand sew hexagons anymore, I have decided to use all my
rosettes as as appliques for some table runners...(added: joining with Sarah
on her hexagon linky)

These fabrics are from 1989!!  I used to work on these when we would spend
long Summer afternoons at Harkness State Park relaxing and taking in the
lovely ocean views and cooling breezes...

I have a lot of rosettes with varying numbers of rounds left over from
a Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt I had planned..

these three

all have a white

surround

And I used Helga to applique them

As it is white on white fabric I thought this stitching with pure white thread would
look good....

I am trying to figure out how to utilize all those stitches on my machine as I can no
longer hand quilt either...my hand problems just won't allow it...

Everything comes and goes in cycles in life........

and I am really surprisingly thrilled {;-))}
at how nicely this stitching came out...

So, I will be reading up on machine applique and trying to refine my almost
 non-existent skills...

The sun is trying to break through these low, gray clouds here today and our daffodils
are finally emerging...Spring has finally sprung here----I think???!!

Hugs to you all

HIP, HIP, HOORAY! A FINISH!

AND, SO YOU ARE SAYING...HUH?  WHAT IS THIS?  Well, it is the blank label on the back corner of the surprise quilt I am making for---- (you know who you are...heh heh)---- that someone special expected in late August...I am waiting for a NAME, DATE and TIME of birth.  I don't know what title to give this one as yet...

STAY TUNED for the big reveal later on this Summerl....

This quilt was an entirely new style for me..and I love the way it turned out!  It also was the first quilt that I machine quilted with my new and fab-u-louso walking foot...

I am doing my happy dance today...hugs, Julierose, La Blageuse

NO PIX FOR YOU (apologies to Seinfeld!)!

                                           FIRST MACHINE QUILTING
                                                       REPORT
                                                         SHHH

I went and got my walking foot at my LQS yesterday and nearly fainted dead away at the price--but DH said:  "You need it, don't you?  So, get it!" (What a guy!)...

Yesterday I pin basted and this morning I attached the foot (easy peasy!) re-adjusted the pressure -- and I just finished quilting all the long vertical lines along the ....oops, can't give it away now (heh heh)--at any rate 12 lines.  And, it went really well.  (As I posted before I followed Eliz. Hartman's guidelines in her book "Modern Patchwork"--I love this book! see her at http://ohfransson.com )

Quel  Supris!!

Am I doing my  happy dance?   You betcha! ...now to figure out how to quilt the rest....am looking at some options...

Have a happy weekend...hugs, Julierose, La Blageuse quilteuse  :--)))

No Pix-- Danger! Danger! Will Robinson:--V-E-N-T-I-N-G Post

Hi All:  I hated machine quilting!!  I don't like the look of the stitches; my neck and hands hurt and I got puckers!  I WILL post a pix when quilt is bound. (At least my twin grandsons will still like it 'cause Grand'mere made it for them..).  I am really grumpy (duh!!) as I love the pattern.

I think I really prefer tying; or hand quilting even though it takes a LONG TIME--but then you get to "know" your quilt really well and lotsa stuff can be quilted out ( as my Grand'mere used to say; don't worry, don't hurry, just do it!!)  I will show you my mess after I go take a REALLY, REALLY  long walk...(S -I-G- H) and stare at the ocean for a while.....it's hard realizing that you just cannot do EVERYTHING you want to do well.....a little humility needed here.
.I have to re-think what I want to do.....for this next year. Also, I have another one to do yet.....
