SPRING IS HERE

Our trees are sending out buds at long last....

golden buds, red buds, pale green ones.........

Our last old apple tree budding out still another year......

We have reached 80 degrees at 1:30 p.m..........even with the sea breezes.....aaahhh....

************************************************

And
VENETZIA is all tied --

Now, I just want to do a little machine seam quilting to hold it more securely along the edges... then binding...
***************************************
And........
We are off to visit our friends and see their new condo this evening....they just sold up
this past November and tell us they really love condo living....

I am bringing the dinner salad and a bottle of champagne and the "Free the Wild Horses"
tabletopper for them in their new digs...hope they like it....

GRAY AND CRUMBY SUNDAY

Even my daffodils, it seems are sad with this continuing gray weather....

I love this variety....
and

This IS lovely too.....

*******************************
I have embarked on a "Crumby" adventure--my scraps are overtaking my storage
...so

Here are the beginnings of my journey...in blues, yellows and oranges...
***************************************************
And here is my little liberated basket piece I am trying to get to go together...

I have a few extra snippets that I machine appliqued on...

and this gal flew by to take a look...still tying away
                                                          on "VENETZIA"
using different colored ties on the butterflies and ecru on the quilt .....

*AND.................                                  *********************
Sunday supper is leftover Chicken and Rice casserole from yesterday....

The usual round of laundry, stretches and walking finishes my Sunday round--and
a Red Sox game later on....

canoeing to our secluded spot.....
on our quiet lake beneath the mountains...

The melodies are on the reverse side--which I will keep
a secret for now....;}}}}

Dried herbals and flowers from last year's garden lightly scent my room---

SPRING HAS SPRUNG

My hydrangea, which I thought I had lost due to the freeze, thaw, refreezing we've had,
is all budded out--I L O V E hydrangeas--those big fluffy blooms--looking forward to that!

Even my Bleeding Hearts that my good friend Jean gifted me are up despite the weather...they
are so delicate and lovely...

AND Miss Lavender made it, too..

All these plants are just off of our back deck by the stairway down to our backyard...here is where I usually also plant my basil; my mums are still asleep--the dried twigs from last year and leaves keeping them warm for now.  I am waiting to uncover things as I do not TRUST this CT
up-and-down weather this 2016 year.

                                                                 V O I L A ! !

I set out my vase of forsythia and daffodils on top of my Spring hexagon garden topper that
I finished last year...I had forgotten how much I liked it as it was packed away in a drawer
wintering over....I got that pretty yellow vase from my daughter on my last birthday
...it goes so perfectly there....

My favorite daffs are the ones with the orange/salmon middle trumpets..
.
And now, for something completely different!

I have been able to resume walking on Madam Treadmill--I am up to 25 minutes/day before
that cough gets pesky---
and this is what I am watching on the tv DH set up for us to wile away
the minutes:

You DO know him, right?? ;--))
                                               Monsieur Hercule Poirot.
I go on what I am calling my"Mystery Walks" with him.
I have finished episode 1 and am on the 2nd one now....
AND
It really does help me to stay on the machine for my allotted time...I would really
rather walk outside--but the wind and cold has defeated that idea....
so on this no crafty doings post I wish you warmth and I am so glad that Spring is here....

EASTER --GHAN

THIS is where I want to be--out on my deck glass table with my cuppa crocheting
BUT--it's waaaay too cold.  I can dream, can't I....

As you can see above, I had a lot of that Monet multi leftover, soooo I decided after gifting my first crochet afghan to Mom for Easter that I'd make myself one with bright Easter Egg
colors around that Monet Multi.

You can see that my view is still in "Winter Mode"

I decided to move inside.....QUICKLY!!

Here are the colorways closer up....I have another green color, but cannot decide whether I
want to include it or not....and that lovely bowl (from my friend MaryAnn) is holding:

My new tulips --a lovely purpley-roseate color...couldn't resist on my way home from our walk today --our Stop&Shop has lovely plants....now where can I plant these so the deer won't eat them for dessert????

And here they sit.... on my dining table  atop my Chinese tabletopper holding the promise of Springtime .....

I am settling in right now (after eating my GAZILIIONITH (!!) salad for lunch--still holding at between 29-30 lbs lost...but it's H A R D !!) ---watching the Red Sox and crocheting those little
circles that will turn into my Easter throw squares--just fascinated at how they morph from circles to squares....such fun!!

Best of Sundays to you all....(gee--2 posts in one day--really???)

O! What a Tangled (Green) Web We Weave

My tabletop of green scraps awaits a spark--an idea--what to make next???

Let's try some of these...green reminds me of my Christmas Cactus (which, by the way, badly needs re-potting)...maybe some paper pieced strips is a start....

Oh--how wonderful--an actual cactus print!  Hah! (Grinning away while I sew...)

EUREAKA!  a little germ of an idea is forming :

I really like these--what if?  What if I cut them in half?  They could be the fronds of cacti...hmmmm

And so it goes...looking, choosing, waking up @ 3 am to go and look again in the moonlight filtering in on the wall....in the quiet of night.....

I am very glad that the RSC13 for April is GREEN!!
Happy Spring...Julierose, La Blageuse

"MARCH"ING FORWARD FRIDAY--PROGRESS

Three rows sewn together on "Hello Dolly" (out of ten):  I have set myself a goal of one row a day...now that I have stacked the fronts, backs and batting squares, labeled them and put them in order.

It gets a little confusing on the back as in Row 4 there are alternating blocks (angels/snowflakes).  Will have to keep (what's left of my..)wits about me so as not to mess it up!!

Here is a view of my cutting table with all those blocks ready to sandwich (hmm, I forgot to eat lunch...) and put in rows.

A pile of sandwiches ready to go....(HAM SALAD SOUNDS GOOD....lol)

We had tons of rainy weather this week and here's what's left of the snow looking out my sewing room window:

We are so looking forward to sitting out on our back deck this year.  Doesn't February seem like the LONGEST month--it's only 28 days, but they seem to stretch on  forever.....
Not a whole lot left (yay!!) -- I am hoping for an early Spring.  I need to see those daff-y-down dillies poking up through the earth...some color to relieve all this grey grayness!

I wish you all a super quilty weekend...hugs, Julierose, La Blageuse
