CUTTING EDGE et al

I have spent 1 hour + cutting this morning --
before the fibers got to me ! I did take an allergy pill, too.. but those ripped
lengths I used before the accurate die cutting got to me..

Above are the strips using the solids I have on hand...

AND using some of the remainders, I cut these↓↓↓
I love my little 1 and 1/2" Accuquilt die.;
it cuts a block of 9 squares with one pass...
there is no way I could do all these using my rotary cutter
OR, for that matter, my scissors--at least not in what's left of my
lifetime hahaha...

AND
Here are the 3" squares also I die cut --all in the semi low volume range:
I will most likely need some more, but this is
enough to get started on my
                               semi-low volume piece...
                                    my next project ,,,,
                                                     some batiks
                                                             and some not:)))

This idea is still kind of percolating..
no pattern-- just some pix I saw
on blogs and the internet and my new book
"Unconventional and Unexpected" (or is it the other way around?
anyway THAT one...)

I won't be able to judge what colors for those strips and squares until
I start putting this together...
************************************
BUT (isn't there always a but??)

I need to sew these into blocks first: I am done using up all but two little
leftover batik triangles--phew--pretty good, I think ;)))💖💖
Eight-One little snowballs..
And, I loved making them, every one...

I am still pondering how to set them....
keep them as is
or play that switch and shuffle game??

They are pinned up there just as I finished them at the
moment........
*****************************************

And this poor pineapple is languishing,,,,,,,,,,,kept warm by the
legos on one side and the snowballs on t'other...

Until I decide on some kind of border or borders or
even use it as a center in a a bigger medallion piece?
A la Gwen Marston....hmmmmm

It looks all squished-in there doesn't it?  Poor baby.....;000 lol

And that plus the 3 finished legos rows comprise my design wall
this rainy Friday...

I have some thinking to do and some playing....

Soup bowls are on the "table"  and up on my design wall

I have sprinkled bits on top....

I am still not sure if I like these in the centers...

ATHENE BLOOMING AWAY, ET AL

Athene, which came from the grocery store, is STILL blooming away  ;)))

what a treat this is to see during these grey days..

My phone didn't capture the snow outside here,
Athene, though, is
leaning out trying to capture any  light...

*******************************************
Latest Snowball:

      Peaches and strawberries....
the corners are happening as they fall....
what a fun project this one is....

Here is the latest grouping of blocks...
not in any particular setting order....

I feel as if I still need some more colors....
perhaps some darker ones...

some warm gray and turquoise...to throw into the mix....
Stay warm and safe on this frigid
windy night...

IS IT SOUP YET?

                                                         Six bowls sewn and simmering

                                                       .....and

                                             Six more to stir up...........
                          and Slowly develop the flavors.............

***********************************************
AND.........

                               Two more snowball blocks...with corners
                                                 changed up....
[I've discovered that I can trim with my scissors
and avoid rotary cutting burn out...];))))

Basically this has been my week's sewing out put ;
along with two days' of complete rest.......

RAINING SNOWBALLS

          Pondering new combos here....and ,
solid or not, I want a scrappy look...
                                            thinking more black right now.....

All lined up to do flippies...only 2 at a go
so when i am ready to

                                iron the corners and

                                    then trim them up

I won't hurt my hands with the rotary work....
[These are not really pink as they appear, but
a purple sort of mottled  -- not truly a solid,
but I don't have many solids on hand so, make do, use it up
RIGHT?]

Here they look like purple-y grape they are...yum;))

************************************************
                               On the Stone Soup recipe......

I am getting those ingredients mixed together...........
And..........
According to the rules I will need to add some kind of trim to my
soup bowls...something to ponder..........
************************************************
And last but not least--my Sunflower progress....

What appear to be white dots are the sparkley bits...I am really loving the
warmth of this one...maybe 2/3rd done...

when my hands get too sore from rotary work or hand sewing
[and not to mention-- my falling down the grandstand over the
weekend at my grandson's B-Ball game right on my
"good hand" and wrist, knee and back!!],
                                                            {s i g h },😢
I move over to diamond painting work...
I love seeing how the image
emerges with each added row...
***************************************
I worked in 20 minute sessions on the sewing and ironing and cutting after coming home from my early morning weekly shopping--
I wanted to get my errands done before the B I G   R A I N S
hit this afternoon....
We have been having  weird weather this year so far....
Frigid temps to balmy 40's and 50's  and back again..
a see-saw of conditions........

SNOWBALLS & SOUP

Even though we just got rain here, I am throwing
 SNOWBALLS...LOL

[I am not feeling these color combos--something doesn't strike me right...
will have to reassess--I think solids are difficult]

STONE SOUP ET AL

                       Here's my mailing from DAWN................
she MADE a block for me...thanks Dawn...
and I love the old buttons...
and..................... the second squishy package came too:

                                             from SHARON

(Uhhh i thought one or two "little" pieces there gal lol--)

Just gaze at this wealth of PURPLES!!
                                         thank you for your generous
                                            ingredients, Sharon...

Well, my "soup" HAS BEGUN simmering....looking for a new recipe....
****************************************************
And.................... these blocks just are looking "B L A H" to me...
Well, perhaps they are reflecting my state of mind right now--
                         Y I K E S !! Not good, huh???

I mean.............................They are so spare-looking..
perhaps like  our outside view this Winter....????

Indecisiveness abounds.... 😮

But I am trudging onward...
perhaps a  serendipitous block will be the spark I need to continue...

(This is a labor-intensive block with all those "flippin" (haha) corners)

BUT...being resolute....
(altho' I didn't make any New Year's ones lol)

I will not abandon these until the pieces I've already cut ahead
are all used up ...
THEN I will re-assess...after all.......

my drawer of deep-sixed projects is overflowing already....

*****************************************
Here is a cheery look at my ever-flowering amaryllis beauties....
I just am amazed at how prolific a bloomer this one is...but she needs
to be supported with her long stem......
and.................a little digression here......
Speaking of long stems--hahaha, I had my mid-back length hair cut
off on Thursday...to this:

and so far, even after two nights' sleeping on it,
I still like it...now
to do it myself...hah  aye, matey:
                                                 "...there's the rub" ....

And here is Red Surprise close to breaking into bloom:

I love the subtle variation of the reds, oranges--
even shades or tints of purple, yellows white and greens...
all fading in and out of each other...even some maroon-ey hues...

****************************************
I am finally coming out of "migraine-city"--
where I have been residing on and off
all week long...

my eyes are still adjusting to the light...

Maybe tonight I can sleep through....hopefully....

Enough of my moan/groan/venting here.....

                                         "I vant to be alone"
                                           in ze darkness.....

ATHENE & SNOWBALLS

                         WOW--this Athene amaryllis is:
Pure white with yellow and dark green interior ..

Much longer stemmed than my Red Surprise one

And here is the second stem on Red Surprise:

                            Looking like F I V E  M O R E  flowers to come...;}}}}}}

On the quilting front..................

Here is a view of my latest trial block....
When I spied these on  Monday Making at Love, Laugh Quilt and
                                        I   totally.
                                                         absolutely,
                                                                               fell in love with these

                                                        AMISH SNOWBALLS...

                     (I MOVED TO:SQUIRREL "CITY",
                                    DROPPED  EVERYTHING AND
                                                       HAD TO MAKE THIS ONE.)
Know what I mean...???

I have a load of solids ............................
(don't ask me why I even bought them as I've NEVER used them
in any project...--well, need I say more about buying fabrics??
I THOUGHT NOT lol)

And I thought--well, this is definitely a good way to finally try out solids...

[Every time I look at my block, I search for a print...hahaha]

Here is the 2nd block set up...they are really fun to make...and non-stressful....

I am using my Accuquilt 3.5" die to cut the squares...so that makes it easy on my
shoulders and arms and hands...and my triangle die for the flippy corners....

I do have to iron the heck out of the fabrics since they've been folded for
SO    L O N G
and are very creased ....
so am trying hard
to let THE IRON  do the work and not
pressing down so hard that I
 strain myself...
trying is the operative word here...;0000
***************************************************************
On the Pomegranate front...
I am only allowing myself to hand quilt on Sundays now...so it is:

S L O W S U N D A Y  stitching with Kathy.....

Hugs, on
Another gray, rainy, raw day here....
