AS I WAS SORTING...., et al

As I was working on sorting out my
fabrics early this morning....
I came across this central seafaring
fabric in Autumnal colors.....

and...

I was immediately
struck by the idea
to make us placemats for
the Fall Season...

Lighthouses, lobstahs (yum!) and
various sailing vessels...

What neat vignettes that reminded me
of our days on our friend's sailboat...

That did it!!!
😉😊😍
 I was off measuring,
cutting, further
foraging for side fabrics,
 and finally----
sewing them right up!!

This small fat quarter that had been tucked away
for who knows how long, made perfect
placemats for us...

Then, of course, I made a
long, narrow runner to
go with them--
these will fit on our eating counter
perfectly....
Now to pin baste and
machine quilt--that is for
tomorrow...and this weekend...

I just love it when this happens
Don't you????
😀😁😄😇
Needless to say, the sorting took
(a sort of!) backseat....

FYI: More COL blocks:
and their little stories:

We both so look forward
to our morning coffee---so,
yesterday I drew and embroidered
this block  ON THE LEFT in my COL:

We awakened this morning, the 18th, to still
more heat and humidity with overcast, dark skies--
What happened to the forecast of a cool, sunny day????
Huh??? Tell me that!!

Sooooo,
I decided to "steal the sun" for myself while
practicing my Satin Stitch...

Meanwhile.....
Going through my head was a song
from "Annie":
"The sun will come out tomorrow..."
🌞🌞🌞

The sun itself is cut from one of those little
pieces I leave under
my sewing machine needle in
between starts of fabric..
.just a little "ort" cutoff..

And, I liked the idea that it
 was already quilted!!

Hugs, for a wonderful
upcoming weekend
