BATTING BOOK, et al

"Strawberry Moon" page↑↑↑

I am starting to sew my pages together
in my batting book:
this photo shows the backs of two
pages sewn on the back of
what you see here...
[can you see the stitching?]

Then....I will
place these two
together like so.....
↓↓↓
and whip stitch them together on 3 open sides
[top, side and bottom]

and----VOILA!!
A page with two sides sewn is born...
;)))

Here are two that I have sewn :
See how nicely they come together???

These are
"Japanese Spring Moon"
pages...

Once I have finished stitching on pages,
I can then sew them together...

Here is "Strawberry Moon" 's
facing page that appears first
above on this post...

I started adding some beads
and sari silks ruched up to
finish this one off...
It represents the ocean waves
under cloudy skies...
*******************************
I am working to finish "Black Hole Sun" 's
"Won't you come
Wash away the rain?"
page...

The white stitching and silver beads
are the rain--
and the blue chain stitches are
the emotional whirlpool...

Here they are together...
They are waiting to be sewn to the
backs of finished pages..
(as explained above)

These are my "Summer Ocean Moon" two pages
that I still need to stitch and
embellish further...
for now they are just basted in place...

*****************************

And in my Lego Project:

I now have 12 slabs --
11 on the wall here
↡↡↡

and
I've begun to trim the 12th one  here
[approx'ly 11.5 wide and 12 long]

I still have a few 1.5" strips
left--
We shall see what I can do with these...
↧↧↧
Not a whole lot of variety....;(((((
That container in the back
was overflowing
when I began...

So this is where things stand as of today...
I have taken the weekend to rest up and
hope to continue doing work on
both projects this week...

Hugs on a lovely coolish, sunny day

SLAB-A-THON, et al

Ten of these slabs/blocks done
so far....
I have more to go in my "slabbing" spot below:
I have enough for for 3 more already sewn
into strips and
plenty of 1.5" strips ready to be sewn.
No idea how many I'll end up with ...
😣
**************************
On my Batting Book front:
"Won't you come
Wash away the rain?"
page is coming together...

S  L  O  W  L  Y.....

Resting hands today after
a week's worth of sewing...

*************************
On the homefront--

My daughter, Candice, is coming down this
afternoon with her new "Friend"
(Jeff, whom we've not met as yet)
to go to a  Concert at McCook Point Park
this evening...
and they will stop by for a visit beforehand.

I went out this morning to market and
got some appetizers to serve.

Our weather has been really superb;
definitely deck sitting weather...
a nice change...

Hugs for a great weekend,

"BLACK HOLE SUN" WIP...et al

"Black Hole Sun" batting page
in progress...

Here is the lyric I am
interpreting:
↧↧↧↧

["Black Hole Sun , won't you come,
and
Wash away the rain..."]

I slow stitched the rain in the
gray section above
to give it more texture for
that lyric;
and
I couched golden silk ribbon
around the meeting of
black hole and sun
which emphasizes the black hole
better, I feel....

And I  free-hand stitched
the title "Black Hole Sun"
around the top
↓↓↓

The facing page will be some sort of
rain and whirling eddy representation...
I am still thinking this through...
**************************

Here are a couple of photo shots from
Youtube videos showing concerts
with Chris Cornell performing
with Soundgarden...:

And

*******************************
And....
Here are my first two
rough lego slabs...
uncut and un-ironed
and just sewn together...
[and not all that straight either!!!]
;((((((
;))))
But I love the randomness
that comes out of
my "cut-as-you-go" method.

[Approx 11" wide by 14"-16" long)
I plan on cutting squares--
and I am
still deciding on final sizing
for these.

It took longer than I thought
to sew these together.
👀👀👀
Above is about 2 hrs work...
😣
I think this will be a
l o  n  g
project...
And,
I do need to cut more of a variety
of 1.5" strips to work with.

I am happy to report that our weather has
cooled down considerably and the
humidity leveled off enough early
this morning so we could have our coffee
out on our back deck...YAY!!
