INDOOR GARDEN, and such.....

My little table garden...
in our side tv room
facing Northerly....
I have two new amaryllis bulbs
placed there...
that I have put on sea glass
in water for now,

 and
When they arrived in the mail
they were already sprouting...
Mom and I collected this sea glass
on our beach walks long ago...

And....
This cactus has had only one bloom
But, it is so pretty...
So....
I have ordered new cactus soil
and feeding beads as I think
their soil is depleted...

I will be doing some planting
of them in larger pots...

My "forgotten" amaryllis has
sent up lots of leaves
but no stem as yet

Below is my spider plant,
a favorite for me...

This morning I set up Helga for
quilting and got
to work on my 3 placemats...

This is the first one
in progress:
I took a little "shoulder" break and
went for a short circuit of our Cul-de Sac--

Here is the placemat all quilted:
This is made from all the little cutoffs
from the Christmas Ojos I made...

and
the back--
this fabric has been hanging out in
my Christmas box for-EVER!!

I used matchstick quilting as I know
it will be washed a lot and
wanted to make it sturdier...

Two more to finish before I work
on my larger Ojos; I thought
I would work on these smaller
projects to "get back" into
machine quilting before
tackling bigger pieces.

Our garden guy is stopping in at noon
to give us a quote on digging up
our little front patio garden as
neither of us
 cannot handle digging
anymore; we will just
have him seed it with
grass for easier care.

So, between the clump of bushes
and the patio seating area
will be just a continuation of our lawn..

The roots are pretty big and deep

S  I  G  H
I will SO miss
puttering about in this small
garden area for sure...

but.................
I plan to put out some pots
along the patio edge and also
we will put our new garden planter
on the side of the patio...

Here is Tom putting it together...
this morning it was warm enough
in our garage for him to poly-
urethane it...

**********************
The rest of this week will be machine
quilting a bit at a time and then
filling in my 3rd strawberry with
hand quilting...

THE WITCH IS IN!

                                               HAPPY HALLOWEEN ALL!!

We are all ready for the ghosts and goblins here--usually just a few as we live on
top of a hill where houses are spaced pretty far apart--so only the really, really
intrepid candy lovers make the hike...

This is the little quilt i made for us last year with my favorite ghastlies...

I used a really old batik that had also some wax resist done to it...sadly there isn't much of this fabric left...

***********************************************

Not a whole lot of any sewing going on here--except maybe a bit on paper for my Junk Journal
Traveler's Notebooks...

I did get my Snowflowers bordered and ready for backing:

I know ladies, ;000--I actually cut away some of those hand pieced hexies I had slaved over...

[I figured:
do I want this DONE or hanging another year in my closet??? And so ...................
WHACK-A-DOO, WHACK-A-DOO--(my husband couldn't watch, he said! He remembers many days in cars, sitting at the beach or on the deck watching me hand stitch them..
poor baby,. I told him: quilting is not for the faint of heart!!;((()]

*******************
On my pared down design wall sits my Plum Pudding with some bare trees surrounding it...
Do I add more? that is always the question
Well, for right now, with my Sewing Mojo nowhere to be found, it can
just simmer up there....

***********************
My Christmas Cacti are getting ready to bloom...they are early birds...

Isn't this a lovely pinky one??

I only have a few plants right now--all my African Violets died for some reason...;ooo

and on this note I will go and pre-heat my oven for my homemade oven fries to go along with the egg salad for sandwiches we are having for dinner tonight....
then I will be knitting while watching the World Series...

Hope your Halloween is
                                                  SPOOKTACULAR!!!!!!!!;ooooo

Friday Pin-up/& Rant--Aaaargh

In the midst of pinning my spiderweb for quilting;

I haven't decided whether to hand or machine quilt (in the ditch)--AS

( ACK!! DANGER, DANGER:  RANT AHEAD:)     Drove to my LQS this morning to buy a foot for quilting after having read online that they opened at 9 am,BUT:  found, when I got there, that they've changed it to 10 am!! And just posted it on the building and not changed it anywhere else..... It was only 9:25....just a weensie bit annoyed as you can imagine--and it's not just next door to me either.  Soooooo....this is WHY I get most, if not all, of my quilting supplies ONLINE  (where do you guys get most of your stuff???)--
-AND this has happened before at the same place.  Finis pour moi.....

ON A PRETTIER NOTE:

Look what decided to bloom for me ...isn't it lovely?  And it's loaded with buds....I {heart} Christmas Cacti.  Every year I buy another to add to the "big pot" and, I think that this year I'll have to get a bigger pot.....Our local Ocean State Job Lot just got in a ga-zillion, so tomorrow I may run out and get one.....(Notice how I am changing the subject above???  ). I have been absent here as have been going to rehab with Mom for her hip...she is doing better now....

Have a fun weekend all--enjoy this Springlike weather....Julierose, La Blageuse
