"UNITY" PROGRESS , et al

Here is my "take" ↟↟↟
on the Log Cabin Loonies
pattern below

Isn't it just amazing
what a different color choice
can make?

I have totally run out of grays now,
and am moving toward the gray-blues

Here is a darker
gray/blue-y
addition...above

There will just be 4 of these
then the rest
will be a gray/silver
leaf-ey print below

These seem to go well
with the batiks round...

[If you look at these cornerstones
you can see that I had to substitute
different prints for them also.]

So this will be a
semi-scrappy
version....

AND

Here is one with the 2nd batik
print I had left....
It is on the "darker side
of gray...
*******************************

With this final round my blocks
will measure 8 1/2"
(more or less--as
usual-- hahaha)

I have 10 left to
make...for this
8 1/2" round.

My decision will be whether
this is big enough...
or if I need an additional round
to bring them up to 10 1/2".
πŸ‘΅

There are 15 blocks in this colorway
AND
I have another 15 awaiting
my decision on a different
colorway entirely...

************************
We awakened to frigid cold this morning!!
8 degrees and windchill values
of -1 degree...

Strong winds continue to blast us here,
and we are hoping that
we don't have any
power outages...

I hope you are all staying safe and warm

"UNITY", et al

Here are the next round of logs
(blue and white batik).

I have decided to name my log cabin
"U N I T Y"
in honor of the Inauguration
of our new Administration.

I have six made so far...
and these are ready
to go

↡↡↡↡
If you click on this
photo,
you can see that I the batik
changes.

I only had a small piece of the
first one, so am
scrapping it up
with the 2nd....

*********************
We will be watching football
at 3 pm today
The buccaneers and
Tom Brady....

and my Tom
is making us creamed tuna for
our luncheon--along
with my tossed  salad --
that will comprise
our big meal
for today...

I also made us brownies for
dessert--My new rule being
"only homemade sweets..."

I hope you are all well and staying vigilant
on this very windy and cold
Sunday

BLOGLOVIN' WOES

Does anyone know why I cannot
get my Bloglovin feed at all?
I keep geeting:
"This page is not available"

So annoying...!!!

Sooooo,
No hugs for Bloglovin

STITCHING GEESE, et al

56 Geese quilted
so far...
on "Night Flight"
{click to enlarge all photos}

The middle row of 11
is finished --
top to bottom..

The other 4 middle rows have 3
geese left
on either end...

Once they are done,
the middle portion of the
piece will have been all
quilted;)))

Here is how the back is looking
↡↡↡↡↡
With the skeins
of Geese
flying through
the tree branches...
I love how this
is working out...

I bordered the trees with this
lovely feather print.
I love it!!;)))

*********************************
This morning I bit the bullet,
so to speak,

AND

trimmed my L o o o ng hair...

I've been watching videos on
how to do this and took
the leap...
{There is no way I am going to
any hairdresser until I have
my shots--which, I fear,
may be quite a while
even though both Tom and I
are both age-eligible}

I also trimmed my bangs...
just a blunt trim to get rid
of the dead ends.

So now my hair just
reaches my mid back--
it was
getting WAY too long...

************************
We had a
"Monday Brunch"
today...πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
πŸ‘«

I made home fries with the
leftover potatoes boiled
for our corned beef
and cabbage dinner last night;
and we had sausages;
 and
scrambled eggs
and
toasts...
It was so good and
so
FILLING!!

Tonight will be leftover
corned beef sandwiches
on rye bread with
french fries...

[have I told you how much
we πŸ’• potatoes???]

I hope you are enjoying this long weekend...
and getting some sewing in...

LCL'S PROGRESS: ROUND ONE

Here is the ROUND ONE  of my
Log Cabins
[Log Cabin Loonies= "LCL"]

The off-white logs are older batiks
I had on hand along with
some white on cream
low volume
strips...

I made 60 in total;  but I will be
using only 30 for my first
log cabin...

Here is my "mock up" to
see if I like these
colors
↓↓↓↓↓
Varied gray toned fabrics
for the logs
along with the dark blue
for the cornerstones...

I have 6 set up to
work on
tomorrow
and a lot more cutting to do...
These will be taking a bit
longer than a regular
"courthouse steps"
log cabin would, but
I have plenty of
time these long
days....
Many thanks to:

for hosting this
Log Cabin Loonies
SAL
:)))

***************************
The teeming rains have finally stopped here;
it was very windy and rain swept all last night.

It is 44 degrees here right now;
pretty warm for January!!
But temps are predicted to drop...

I hope you are all staying safe...

LOG CABIN CENTERS

THIS IS WHAT I DID TODAY...

I made 12 more
little hourglass centers for my
Log Cabin Loonies SAL

I now have 28 made...
:))))
I have to decide yet
how many I want to make.

JulieK's making 60
blocks
on her SAL.

I was sewing along
with my little OWLET
pin holder...

Isn't she the cutest???

I have a kit to make
another one
waiting
in the wings.

************************
I didn't do any geese quilting
today...giving my hands
a bit of a rest...

QUILTING GEESE

I have quilted 35
Geese by hand so far...

Sitting at my
dining room table
With tea to hand...
;)))

The lighting is really good;
and
I can rest my arms
on the table;
which
seems to work well.

I can manage  to quilt 5 per day
without any ill effects.

***************************
Tonight's dinner menu includes:

Meat loaf, boiled potatoes,
green beans and
gravy....
*************************
It has been a sunny, but windy and cold,
day here...

I hope you are all staying
safe and wearing your masks
FOR

COVID is STILL HEREπŸ’€

LOG CABIN LOONIES RIDE AGAIN!

is re-instating her
"Log Cabin Loonies"
Sew Along this
Year...

I have my center pieces stored in this
Whitman Sampler Tin

I cut them with my Go! Baby!
die cutter this afternoon

a deep, rich red
and
a white grunge--
to be made into
little, teeney
hourglasses
for the log cabin centers..
WHAT FUN!!

I have yet to decide what the other colors
will be to use as the logs...

but I am leaning toward grays and
deep blues...

I need to check out what's
in my deep stash...;)))

this along with RSC are my two choices
for some group sewing.
Meanwhile I have been
continuing on with my Geese
and the x-stitched
butterflies--only
ONE MORE
after this one...
[I am getting
Butterflied-out a bit!!]

**********************
I hope you have a wonderful evening.
Tom and I began watching the
Netflix Series of
"Outlander"
It is fascinating...

Take care, try to stay calm
and safe...
Hugs

THROWAWAYS?? NO SIRREE, BOB!!

Here are my RSC
Pink strips (R)
and
Chunks (L)

How could I toss these?
"No way,
 Jose" ;000

So these plus a few odd blocks
are what I have to work with this
month...

AND
Speaking of "Odd Blocks ;000
↓↓↓↓
I made this yonks and
YONKS ago
from a Quilters Newsletter
magazine tutorial.

[Sorry to say, my box of old QNM mags
somehow got tossed when we moved here--
that has always been my favorite
quilting magazine--I used to read and re-read
it constantly for inspiration-
I had at least 8 yrs of issues...
And they are
G O N E !! ]
😒😒😒

So, I would like to feature this
block somehow in a piece
in memory of my
(who threw them away?
I'd like to knowπŸ‘Ύ !!!)
favorite old magazine...

AND

I am sewing a few other previously
started and unfinished blocks
together this morning
while making banana
bread in my Oster Bread machine.

That aroma is wafting throughout the
house..it is cooling right now
Ooooh the anticipation...

[talk about Pavlov's dogs
 salivating!! πŸ‘€πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹]

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

So, that is what is going on around my house today...
plus the dinner menu is:
My homemade minnestrone soup
with garlic bread on the side.

[Yesterday we had a full
roast chicken dinner with all
the fixin's; so today is
a "lighter" meal day]

Take care still to be careful:
mask and social distance.

HASHTAG ROW

I finished my Hashtag Row this
morning
on this gray day..
I love how this came out...

I am so fascinated to see
how the other punctuation signs will
shake out...
πŸ‘©
You can find the tutorial
here on Angela's Blog
(So Scrappy)

[Don't look too closely --as per usual--
my seam allowances are not really 1/4"
on this machine; but,  it's about fun
not perfection, RIGHT?]

[Thanks Lizzy for your
tutorial on copy/pasting--
I must have been the last
person to "not know" how to
do this!! ;000]
πŸ‘πŸ’–
***************************
Both hubby and I are feeling better today...
still have that hacking cough, but
other (nasty) symptoms
have gone away...;)))

A very light dinner is on the menu
for tonight after our digestive
issues the past two days...
πŸ‘½

We opted for
Comfort Food:
Scrambled eggs, a la Tom πŸ‘΄
English muffins with
jam/jelly,
and little sausage links...
Yum... πŸ‘΅

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

We were going to have a roast chicken
dinner, but thought that it was too rich with gravy and
mashed potatoes and stuffing
and all.......
SOooooo
Tomorrow we will roast that baby!!
πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

Hugs,
and stay safe

HASHTAG (#) RSC Quilt, et al

Here are the pinks I chose
for the 1st block row of
that Punctuation Quilt
Challenge...

FROM ANGELA AT
SUPERSCRAPPY

I only had four solid pinks
in my stash--

So,
I used the reverse of one for the 5th color
And I am using WOW as my background
for all the upcoming blocks...

First Row of
Hashtag blocks sewn
and ready for strip inserts...

*************************
Besides this Punctuation
quilt, I have not
as yet decided what
else, if anything, to work on
For RSC 2021.
********************
ALSO:

JulieK Quilts
is hosting another
"Log Cabin Loonies"
SAL this year...;)))
AND
Last time I really enjoyed making
a little tabletopper.

So I will be also joining that...

These are my two planned
joinings for this year.

Meanwhile, I am still hand quilting
Night Flight Geese slowly...

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&.
********************
Taking it easy today as
I am still a bit under the weather...
