HEXAGONIA HERE I COME

Since I won't be able to hand sew hexagons anymore, I have decided to use all my
rosettes as as appliques for some table runners...(added: joining with Sarah
on her hexagon linky)

These fabrics are from 1989!!  I used to work on these when we would spend
long Summer afternoons at Harkness State Park relaxing and taking in the
lovely ocean views and cooling breezes...

I have a lot of rosettes with varying numbers of rounds left over from
a Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt I had planned..

these three

all have a white

surround

And I used Helga to applique them

As it is white on white fabric I thought this stitching with pure white thread would
look good....

I am trying to figure out how to utilize all those stitches on my machine as I can no
longer hand quilt either...my hand problems just won't allow it...

Everything comes and goes in cycles in life........

and I am really surprisingly thrilled {;-))}
at how nicely this stitching came out...

So, I will be reading up on machine applique and trying to refine my almost
 non-existent skills...

The sun is trying to break through these low, gray clouds here today and our daffodils
are finally emerging...Spring has finally sprung here----I think???!!

Hugs to you all

SNOWFLOWERS

REMEMBER THIS???

My Snowflowers have been languishing for such a long time in that closet of shame....;(((

Mainly because i didn't know what to do with those edges; I have basted them to the white-on-white background and plan to stitch them down.

but then, what to do with those big white corners??Hmmmm maybe a hexie swag? Or some Broderie Perse?

Here are a few of those flowers:

there is that lovely blue iris
fabric which I have a lot of--perhaps a swag or flowers of that all round...

there are a lot of blues in this one....

I am linking up with

So, a new "old" project comes back
maybe this time I can actually finish it....

HEXAGONIAN GARDENS

Four of these
and.....

          Four of these and....

only two of these....
and then this one

Butterflies visiting the pansies...

{I wish I had more of the purple pansy fabrics, but this is it; so we shall see if I can add in other flowers for my pathways....}

These have been my late evening (unable to sleep) project for the past few weeks...they are leftovers...so I really don't know how I will put them together
or in what form....I hate to see leftover hexies....for now, I will put them in my UFO drawer and find another hand work project....for late evening watching of
Hercule Poirot mysteries...

We were lucky in yesterday's snowstorm--we did have about 5" then it all turned to rain...so we had slush, but not the heavy amounts that were predicted. I think we were the only part of CT (here right on the Coastline)
that got away with it; most schools are still closed while clean ups are in progress--18"-24" most areas!! Yikes!! I can do without that!! I have Spring Fever as it is...;0000

LEFTOVERS

Do you remember this reversible hexagon tabletopper from a few years ago?

Well, it turns out that I have a whole lot of extra prepped hexies from it...
Actually all the flower bits...

So, between those and my Monet's garden orts [;)))] I have begun making this little one:

and....since I threw my back out 3 days ago and cannot sit at my machine, I have been reading and sewing hexagons....:00000!!

I love that water-ey blue batik and the pansy fabrics ;(I seem to be on such a pansy kick lately) and have three started
--so my paths are strewn with flowers instead of the other way around...
just for a change--
we'll see how this develops...

The black centers are from Monet's garden;

so, ladies, I am "on the road in Hexagonia" once again,
enjoying the trip...and
reading--- in between icing my back and moving s l o w l y....
through my days...

{today we are fogbound, gray and rainy....}

hugs to all,

STALLED

This is how far I got on my Monet's Garden...and got stuck.  Just didn't know where i wanted to go with it....so, into the closet about a year ago or more...

I took it out last night, laid it out here, and then re-folded it and put it back....
Hmmm, then this morning I re-considered and now am adding some more of the white text fabric on the two opposite sides...

Something like this...I will need to cut and baste some half-hexagons for the sides, too.
I have it next to my seat in our tv room ready to be worked on in the evenings...

AND:

here is the 2nd hexagon project that has been languishing for about 6 years!!!
                                     "Snow Flowers"...

this one has to be appliqued onto the all white background--and then
I will figure out what appliques should be added around the edges....

That one is in the wings...they are both on my 2017 list of WIPS...

Look what emerged today??? spring must be coming for sure....
and finally .....

Christmas on the Farm update:  my canning jars--I wish I had made those
covers darker (I may end up darkening them with a fabric pen), but I like the fruits inside--good for Christmas pies....

("Can she bake a cherry pie, Billy boy, Billy boy,
can she bake a cherry pie, charming Billy")
