BLUE LEGOS, ET AL

Here is my first blue block of three......................

You know, you learn something with each project you make....
isn't that the truth??;)))

I can see that I have very FEW low volume fabrics in my scraps and in my
stash...Most are mid values or darkish or vibrant. Do you find that you always
gravitate to the same tones, or types of fabrics?  I am trying to do a
stash inventory to actually SEE and KNOW (duh!!) what I have on hand....

I mean pinks are lightish to begin with...
but as I look at this on my wall 👀 👀 👀------

I see VERY FEW fabrics that are widely spaced and have white or off white
backgrounds... and my shelves are groaning with similar tonal fabrics...

[I don't count Black and White-- as they kind of stand out to my eyes]

Is it that I am just drawn to vibrant colors?  I keep saying that I
want to make a low volume piece...with the palest of tints....

I have very few plaids and just one little bundle of polka dots--I've never
used them...they are shoved WAY way back in the precut box....

Do you actively try to make your stash varied?
this quilting gal wants to know ;)))))
*********************************
The 3 green/mauve-ish blocks have used up all my precut 3.5" squares...
This morning I die cut a few more solid greens and some more
 pinky triangles..

[Now,ladies,---- "which one is not like the others?    hahaha]

I guess I will be  making TWO pieces (ya think?)....

No way is that beige block going to play well with the first 3...
at least not for me...

The beiges will be set with my pre-cut batik triangles...

They will be "Autumn Snowballs".....

***************************************

And I am die cutting 1.5" squares from leftovers of these two
projects  for a postage piece in the future...keeping busy....

We are in the AC today--BECAUSE it is so MUGGY!! again!!

LEGOS & SNOWBALLS

                                           LEGOS BLOCK #1-my leader-ender project...
AND

BLOCK #2: Finally got these sewn together yesterday.....and that is "IT"
for any yellow scraps!!  Hard to believe!!;000

I have put together SO MANY scrap quilts in the past 3 years that I am
actually low on scraps....

My next color will be pink--and am now stash diving for pink scraps...
Hoping these will be  enough for 3 blocks 11"x11"
one between the two yellows and
                                    2 for the next row...

**************************
Meanwhile--I have set up my Summer Snowballs like this so far.....

I have one solid mauve block missing (R)  and will fill in with a similar color there...
and make one more green centered one for the 3 above to begin my 3rd block...

Summer Snowballs is my main Summer sewing project.

***************************************
I took out my big snowball top yesterday and tried to find a backing for it;
but ended up hanging it back in my spare closet
as nothing really "spoke" to me...and , to be honest,
sewing huge pieces of fabric together just doesn't appeal to me
right now.....So....................
I think it will have to be another Christmas backing...my usual
"go to" reverse side....🙏

Hugs from EXTREMELY HUMID CT; Stay Cool

[Went for a 6:30 am walk by the ocean and it was still hot!!]

SUMMER SNOWBALLS

Summer Snowballs: Using up leftovers is continuing.....

[please ignore this old, stained June Taylor pressing board ;000]

I  had cut a whole lot of solid 3.5" squares and small triangles a while
back when I made my first big snowball quilt....
that turned into this,
now waiting for a backing....

I used a square by square controlled color scheme in that  one...with just blue and white corners....
****************************
Meanwhile these leftovers are random--
with a predominance of beige and black squares
and both solid and batik triangles...

here are the next four using green centers
                                  ready to be sewn together...

I love making snowballs- most especially because
I can trim them up using scissors....
thus avoiding the dreaded rotary cutter...

just a few solids left,

but..............

                                                          A whole lot of batiks...

As usual, I am sewing "without a net" and don't know how this will
end up...but making the parts is so joyous....
I love this randomness; and the way that
things happen and
color combos pop up unexpectedly..

I have a LOT of black and beige solid squares so they will be the
main feature in some way.....
And I figure mostly of the batiks will corner them...

**************************************
Tonight's dinner will be hot dogs on the grill with coleslaw and
french fries...easy meal for a hot, humid day....it is really overcast
and very "close" feeling out there...luckily we have AC to keep
us cool and comfortable--
