BOUQUET DE FLEURS, et al...

I finished up my
"Bouquet De Fleurs"
this morning by adding the binding...
[Just a label needed now...]

This was my first machine appliqueing
around the bouquet and then I hand quilted
the surround and around some of the flowers...
I just love this fabric and these pieces I found in
my aqua/teal scrap bag...

The four borders are all itty--bitty scraps
crumbs, really, that I sewed together in long strips
lavender and aqua bits and bobs...

And that second border uses larger cut offs from
this soft teacup and roses fabric...
[you can see all these
 better if you click
to enlarge]

The reverse is this fabulous garden fabric with French words
around each little bouquet...this is what
gave me the idea for naming my little quiltlet...
[the wording is:
"une rose est une rose"]

We are finally beginning to get
 some Fall colors here:
Our young maple being the first to change--
I love how it looks misty in the rainy weather...

And....
Along our left backyard our bushes are turning
such a vivid yellow..
Fall is my favorite season for sure...

then.....
Indoors, my Christmas cacti are budding out
Can you make out the little buds???

They are resting on my Mom's Cathedral window
runner that she made using all of my Father's
ties after he passed away...
I remember taking the ties
apart along with her and then
cutting them into squares .....

I really cherish this piece
and love  looking at it......
which always makes me
remember my  Dad as he was
coming home from work
in his business suit,
white or light blue shirt,
 with all those fancy ties
we got for him...
And, he wore them all,
even if some were a bit wild!!
😇😂😁😄

In other matters--

My hair is due for a trim,,,
Hmmmmmm
OR....
↯↯↯↯

I would love to wear my hair like this...
But I haven't been able to
convince my hairdresser to cut
it this way with my fine hair...

So,  I still am sporting
my chin length bob with bangs...

I hope this finds you all enjoying
this lovely Sunday....

MY READING LIST, et al

Here's my stack of books to be read...
Being an avid reader, I like to have
a nice stack ahead...
{click to enlarge if you wish}

And...
right now I am reading:
I think that this "44 Scotland Street" series
is so much fun...I will be ordering
the next two when my stack gets
too low...😊😂

*****************************
Here is the finished 5th page
of my 60th Anniversary Fabric Journal:
[I am going to have find a good
title for this:  perhaps---
"Through The Years?"]
The crocheted lacey bit across the bottom
is a piece left over from
my Grand-mere's
work that I coffee dyed...
I am finally happy with
how this
came out..
representing our home
in the Berkshires;)))

***********************
A N D...
This is what's going into the oven
this morning:

All the leftover bread crusts and stale
hot dog/hamburg rolls all chopped up,
[I hate food waste of any kind!!]
sprinkled with olive oil and spices.

These will go into a 250 degree
oven for one hour to crisp up;
 then cool completely
before I store them in jars to be
used on our salads...
Y  U  M  !!!!!

We do have a little bit of color
from our one little maple tree
in the back off our deck:
I really just love that reddish-pinky color and would love to find
fabric in those variegated colors.....

****************************
This morning after my 25 minute treadmill
walk, I sat down and finished Kantha
stitching the 9 patches on my
"Dark Days" piece....
Now for the yo-yo's and little florets...

It is coming along....

We are enjoying a beautiful Autumn day here
with a 60 degree temp and sunny skies...
💛I do love Fall...💛
😎😍

AUTUMN VIEWS

The view outside our back door is really heating up!

Now who said Red and orange don't go together--in the 1950's you couldn't even think of wearing them together....(boy that dates me!!).

                         Rasberry and gold: yummy

AND inside:
my Christmas (?) Cactus is about ready to join the show:

I got this white variety last year--the inside of the blossoms turn a lovely shell pink as they begins to fade.......

Here is the whole plant that lived out on my front stoop all Summer long

Now it resides in my side tv room--it seems to be happy here...it's
calling to its mate (the brilliant pink one next to it) to bloom, too....

It has been a quiet and gray Saturday here....much reading, no sewing,
but able to prep some more little 9-patch squares for hand work....

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend ...

Hugs, Julierose La Blageuse (hoping for rain-euse)
