SATURDAY AT THE BEACH
Here is my "Beach Houses Long Ago" finally put together, bound and labeled--[sorry for crooked pix--just too humid and hot to go outside--89 degrees and the dew point is 79!....phew!.....]
Well this Winter when I am freezing and the snow is snowing and the wind is blowing I can look up at this one and remember these Summer days....
this one is reversible showing the last rays of the sun setting over the waters as the moon rises....I used my GO!Baby die cutter for the ocean blocks....loving that machine!!
And here is my little label...
DH wants to hang this one in our bedroom--I think he likes it. He asked if this was a folk art one, too;
I didn't know what to say as all these little house are made, by the "seat of my pants" so to speak, no measuring and lotsa scraps --I guess it is artsy and folksy...
You can see all the summery scraps--some are from very long ago..
and even a little Fourth of July flag waves on this one...I am happy with it. AND HAPPY it's DONE!! LOL And very liberated.....
I hope you are staying cool on this super hot.humid day...hugs and thanks for following me through this month of finishes...I am done (except for one--I mean, you HAVE to have at least one in process
doncha think?? haha)
hugs, Julierose, La Blageuse

BEACH HOUSES LONG AGO: REVERSE
Hello, I am able to post with my old computer re-formatted -- (Thanks DH)
Here is the beginnings of the back of my Beach Houses little wall hanging...on my design wall--I am still sewing 1/4 sq. triangles....
Don't look too closely to the Sun--there are puckers in there--my first attempt at doing paper piecing and curves--actually the PP-ing went fine--but those curves--oh-my!!
See those little pleats--aaargh--but, you know what?? (No, what!--LOL) I am leaving them and I will quilt over them or bead over them or whatever--it will be a memento of my 1st attempt...I kind of like that idea..."warts and all".
And here is Miss Libby helping me with this post:
she is a good girl and follows us everywhere--her first time away from her "people" and in a new area....she is keeping us on our toes( between DH's poor foot and my plantar Facietis--(sp??) it is a challenge--but fun! We are getting a lot of doggie kisses.... ;---))))
HAPPIEST OF JULY 4TH'S TO YOU ALL....
And here she is helping me to text to her "people" on vacation--she looks a little forlorn--oh, poor baby...
Hugs, Julierose, La blageuse....

NOSTALGIA
BEACH HOUSES LONG AGO: As I worked on this little wall hanging, I realized that it was really a trip down memory lane for me...those two tie-dyed pieces on the sides are leftover from a skirt that I used to wear (yes, really!)....in my "salad days".
And......I can even smell the seaweed and Coppertone when I look at this. Funny, how things seem to all fall into some kind of pattern when you're working without a net....just pulling fabrics out "willy-nilly" (maybe that's why it's so hard for me to "organize" my fabrics in specific groupings???)
The yellow dotty print represents the fact that you really only ..."remember the sunny days" as you look back in your life....
the blues on the bottom represent all those deep sea anemones and jellies floating around in August at our beaches here in SE CT...and I just HAD to include that pinky flower! The little house on the right brings back the "ooohs and aaahs" of our fireworks displays with the kids...out on our beach lying on blankets under the stars.....good times....
I had no idea that just making up a few "liberated" beach houses would take me back to my youth...and bring so much happiness back to me...I can only say that it is magical...
Hugs to all, Julierose, La Blageuse
P.S. See my post of June 7th for the "giveaway" ....
