TAH--DAH, et al

All Done
👌👋😊

I'm letting it sit out there for a few days...
before I begin the next one that
I received for Christmas..

**********************
On the Amaryllis front:
My new one has
still not opened up:

It's been on the verge for a good
week now...
Waiting, waiting...

and

The rescued one is growing
but.....
see for yourself...
↓↓↓↓↓
V E R Y  S L O W L Y
It looks like it's a
huge effort--
and perhaps it is....
;(((((

Meanwhile my Cacti have
begun to bloom:
↶↶↶↶↷↷↷↷
A Lovely pink lined one

and

this pure white with a hint of pink inside and at the tip...

and

what looks like it may be peach with hints of pink, too...

*******************

Keeping myself busy, I put down the base layers
for two more pages in my Junque Journal;
went food shopping, and made a new-to-me
stove top recipe for beef and noodles,
[I will report on how we liked it or not],
and pinned my now complete 9-patch
to its backing cloth...

I hope to be able to invisible baste it
to its backing tomorrow...

I hope you are all doing okay
these difficult days...

CAN I SAVE IT?, et al--{a catch up post}

I totally forgot (👽) that I had stored my
last Christmas' Amaryllis in my
dark front hall closet over the Summer....
👀👹💀👀

While scrolling through my photos, which
I transferred onto my new phone.
(Tom and I got each other new
phones for Christmas this year)

I saw this picture:
Y I K E S ~~
I even forgot to water it.....👹

Will it come back to life for me
this year????

Stay tuned--
And....is this even the same
plant????

Because  I have had various
amaryllises through the
years....?????
[this picture is dated 2018]
Had I kept it this long???
S  I  G  H...
*******************
And.....
A few of you asked to see pictures of
where we walk by  the CT River --

Here is the view from the parking lot:
Such a lovely spot....can you make out
the benches provided for seating??
[the bridge on the right is I-95 passing
over the river.....]
(click)
&
Here is the start of our stroll:
Right by the riverside....

Looking ahead we can see the old (1907)
railroad bridge which they are in the
process of replacing:

Next we walk by the CT DEEP installation
on our right...
That day we saw our Coast guard boat
sailing by....;))))
↓↓↓↓
Tom was very excited to see it this close up...

Here you can see the State's
informational sign,,,,
detailing all the wildlife in this
protected spot....
[and the ecological barrier the
construction people have
erected behind it].

And now....
the bridge is opening to let
boats through to the open waters
of Long Island Sound and beyond...
[you can just about make out a couple
of workers standing right there]
(click)
and we say "farewell" to the
Coastguard as it sails under
the opened bridge....
while those workers watch....
↧↧↧↧

We continue our stroll here on our
way under the bridge....
the boardwalk
continues way out to a bird watching
platform here.....it was way
too windy to venture all the way
out that day...

It is a lovely spot ==
the sunlight on the marsh
grasses is always a lovely site
💚💚💚💚

We don't know
how long this area will remain open while
they are working on the building of a
totally new RR bridge and
walking area...
.But
they are slated to finish by 2031.

So who knows when this area will become
closed to the public....????
Maybe this January????
sooooo,
We are walking there as much as
possible --weather permitting...

The area is about 10 minutes
down the road from us--so very
convenient...

*******************************
Here are my cacti for those of you
who asked to see them
in situ:
They sit in our north facing window in
our tv room.....

Above is the latest one I purchased
 that has
already lost a couple of
bi-color peach/rose
blooms....

My little pot cherub is waiting
patiently for this one to
set bud.....

And in the corner sits my
"old faithful"
spider plant ....

***************************
Yesterday I sewed 4 little
blue & white 9-patch
blocks and set up
4 more....
Using up some mini charms
Ready to be sewn.....
*****************************

I hope you are having  wonderful
pre-holiday weekend...

We are pretty much prepared
for the T-day crowd except
for a bit of last minute
shopping this coming Monday....

MONDAY (B)RAMBLE, et al

So far, on Audrey's  Bramble QAL,
I have slow stitched
the basket with a buttonhole stitch
and
whip stitched the stems with brown...

[Ignore the bottom fabric it is the
pillow upon which I am sewing]

***********************************
This morning's travels led me
to Big Y where I found this
beauty:
A Christmas Cactus in full bud mode...
;))))
I love the cute little reindeer attached...
It appears that the flowers are tinged
with a peach-ey color--but
we shall wait and see when they flower.....

Now I own two cacti:
This one is a raspberry color when
it first blooms and then
fades to a light, rosy pink...

********************
Yesterday we totally re-configured our
side tv room--or rather Tom did most
of it!! I now have three windows for
plants that I  can use...

Before, our recliner and our big screen
tv were blocking most of our windows...

Once Christmas is over, I will go
hunting for a nice Begonia and
A tall corner low light plant
for these spots and perhaps
an African Violet, too...

[Sorry for the dark photo, but my phone
camera doesn't fix the lighting any better]

The little tabletop Christmas
tree will (hopefully) be
replaced by a nice begonia...

These windows face the North, and
on the right, the East in the corner...
I sit right along that righthand corner
with that lovely view
of the wooded area
in our backyard...

We are both recuperating
from this move and
re-settlement of our room...
UFFF-DAH!!

PIN IN PLACE

GG's dolly quilts are now
layered up and
ready to pin.

AND
JACK
has binding sewn on front and
pinned over to the back..
And
is ready to be
sewn down...
I will be using black thread
and
doing a zig zag machine finish...

*****************************
On my journaling front
here are a few prepped pages...

I call this one my
"Faux-bo-Hobo"
as I am using an old
Hobonichi Weeks
and ignoring the
planner page set up.
I glue in images, stickers
and
watercolor these pages.

And..
Here are two Junk Journals
I've begun putting together:
they include fabrics sewn
on papers
and random pages to be
bound in ....

********************************
Finally,
I managed, with Tom's help to
lift and pour the big bag of soil
for me,
to finally finally
re-pot my two
Christmas Cacti...
My Mom made this mosaic tray and
the woven Christmas cloth
is one we bought on our
trip to Germany in
1989.
(Omgosh-31 years ago now!!;000)

I will be turning this cloth over in
December as it reverses
to deep red with white figures...

***********************************
So far today, it is partly sunny
but very chilly only 49 degrees (F)
at 11 a.m.
The rest of my day will be
R E S T I N G ...

CHRISTMAS CACTI, et al

My pink Christmas cactus is ready to burst.....

AND
My older white one....

Not so much....hope the buds fulfill their blooms....

And my NEW White Amaryllis--is forging ahead...

I am hoping it will send up its stalk soon...

Looks like:                    THREE SURPRISE SHOOTS ON THIS ONE......

                                               CHRISTMAS ANGEL WATCHING OVER US

and: Jolly Old Saint Nicholas...

"We wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas,
We wish you a Merry Christmas and....

                                                          A Happy New Year..."

Hubby surprised me with this little blue spruce all lit up...;💕💕

BLUE MOON REVISITED

I was able to do a bit of machine sewing today--just 1/2 hour...

I took out this old series from a long time ago and made two more blocks...

Little Fairy Princess and.........................................

                                           BLUE MOON herself....

I think that my mood has been very blue and down as I am not able to do any handwork...just a bit cranky, ya think???
BUT..................these blocks
really spoke to how I've been feeling......they are on the darker side...
but as I sewed  them together, i felt that they made me feel better....

Do you quilt your emotions?  I guess I do...
**********************************************
On a brighter note my Cactus has gone overboard
 blooming amazingly....

How gorgeous is that color...I love my Christmas cacti even though they bloom
early....

Beautiful striations of pinks to cream....with my little gnome peeking out
 in the background...
********************************************

I am going to wait until after Turkey Day to try a bit of hand work....want to really be rested....

Hugs,
Julierose, La blageuse, cranky-euse! ;(((
