AUTUMN STARS FLIMSIE, et al

I found my "Autumn  Stars" flimsie
hanging underneath a couple
small "starts" in my
"Closet of Shame"
this morning....

I had totally forgotten about it....
they keep on popping up....
👹

It is about 29" by 41"--
so I will look for a backing
and work on finishing this one
next....
********************
On the Embroidery front:
I finished this first little
block this afternoon:
A cute little Bee Skep...
The printing seems hard for me to see
clearly  when I am stab stitching--
so working at a snail's pace on
these...there are 12 of them...
Will I finish them all?
Stay tuned....
;)))))
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
Here is the "Naranja Ojos"
all finished...
↴↴↴↫
If you "click" you can find the
Oranges = "Naranjas"...;)))

[thanks Wanda, for the leftover
bindings suggestion--worked out really well.]

And here is the back ;
I used
a lovely panel

Really cute little sayings...

******************************
Little by little I am catching up with
the things I've begun and left off..
***********************
Today it is hot and humid once again--dew point
is up to 74 and it is 85 degrees...
so staying in and sewing...

Stay cool and safe...

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, et al

After our morning walk on this
beautifully cool Summer morning,
I grabbed my coffee and took
out my Kathy Schmitz project:

"Gathered Blessings"--
and began to stitch the redwork with
the Bee Skeep block.

I am
trying to get my stitches back
in shape-- ;((((
it's been so long since
I've done embroidery that they are
a bit on the wonky side...

Since I finished hand quilting
my Moon Garden Stars I have
no other hand quilting project
on hand..

And so....

In the spirit of keeping myself
centered and calm, I decided
to do a bit of this calming
redwork....

***********************
Also...
I have done a bit of work on my
Boho Gypsy Caravan--
here is the back of the front cover
↓↓↓
A lovely hammock for lazing among the pillows
and gazing out at the stars....

And below:

Here is the first prompt:
"Where would you
most like to be"
↧↧↧↧
As always, at the beach at
sunset would be my choice...
definitely "La Dolce Vita" for me....
;))))

And I did a bit of work on the back
cover, too:
a lot of embellishments--
a sewn ribbon ruffle dotted
with flat-back pearls, leafy vines
on the sides,
And....
↴↴↴↴
Sign postings for future journeys (L);
and my fellow traveler leading
his horse on the way ahead
of our Caravan....

I thought the fabric, in the middle section,
looked a lot like a waterfall...
with rocks on the sides...
What fun ideas these images spark...

I am feeling my way on this
Caravan project....
adding more pages
and
waiting for more inspiration
to come to me...

I hope you are having a glorious
Saturday
i will be sitting,
Sloth-style
on our deck lounge chair and
watching the puffy clouds sail by....

RAINY DAYS AND FRIDAYS, et al

Moon Garden stars is all quilted!!

I need to trim her up,  but that will have to wait
along with the binding, until my back recovers
from vacuuming and other household chores
I did this morning...

Here is the little boat's prow
splashing through the quilted waves..
I just really loved working out
this pattern from Jan Patek...
so rewarding....
:))))

***************************
On the weather front:
we are having a lot of rain...
T O N S....

Tom has dug a channel
for a proposed pipe drain to take
the water (which rushes down our
driveway into the garage) away
from the house.  Today houses have
to be built with a slope on all sides
away from the house to prevent this
type of problem we are having...

This, of course, is  a
temporary fix.....
↧↧↧↧
We also need to divert that water from
the corner downspout away from the
propane generator...

A work in progress...
Tom loves doing these projects and
is really good at figuring them out.
;))))
[I tried to upload a video during
the heaviest rain coming
down the drive, but
blogger wouldn't do it!!]

Here is the sloping driveway into our garage
We had that drain put in to
alleviate this problem,  but it
won't divert enough water during
steady downpours to stop it
coming into our garage and then seeping
into the cellar...;(((((

This morning at one point the rain rate
was 5.1"/hr!!!

It seems that there is always something
regarding house maintenance,
isn't there????

******************************
Now the sun is breaking through
and
OOPS--raining AGAIN--
👺👺👺
straight down heavy rain...
filling that channel..
which is working to
take the excess water away
really well...
good job, Tom...:)))

************************************
I am
finishing up my 2nd cup of coffee while
resting the back for a bit...
while Tom is at his 3rd PT appointment,,,,

Stay dry and safe

HEAVY SEAS AHEAD...ET ALS

                                                          LONG WINDED POST
                                                                      TODAY
                                                                          :))

I have begun my ocean quilting journey..
.
I love how the white stitches look a bit like
Shashiko stitching...and
makes the waves look three
dimensional...

I think that I am having
more fun with this project
than I have had with any other..
;)))))

 ***********************
My son, Jeff, and his family
are away on vacation in Northern
Maine for the week
↧↧↧↧
Here is "Lucy" sitting on a raft in the Lake
looking at their rental home...

["Arf Arf...where did everyone go?"
Actually Jeff is sitting off to the
side in his canoe--that would be
too far for her to swim,
just so you know ;)))]
Earlier he took her for a good run

File Under:
A tired dog is a good dog hahaha.

This morning My DIL took Lucy
for a kayak ride across the Lake...
and
the girls decided that Maine
Lake waters are pretty
cold in August:
Brrrrr, Grand-mere!!
[Willa L and
Fiona R]
They are getting so big
so fast...
Middle School this year...
already...
They are my last two "baby"
grandchildren...
my daughters' four are all
grown up in college and
working....

********************
Tomorrow, Chez Nous,
our new air conditioner will
be installed...
So far, our old one is
still pumping away--but
we notice that it is on
almost all the time...
********************
Tonight's supper will be:
Pot roast done in the
slow cooker with onions,
mashed potatoes,
steamed carrot sticks
with a bit of dill and butter...
and applesauce on the side...

FYI: for those of you who asked...

DH goes to PT tomorrow and
Friday this week; he is doing
a lot better with the pulled
hamstring and feels that
he can even walk farther...

Re: Gypsy Caravan Work--
I am having trouble getting started for
some reason; the shape kind of
bothers me--silly, I know,
but there it is...so waiting until
inspiration hits to work in it.
*******************
And I am
continuing my binding journey--
Blue Squares is the latest finish...

This reverse is the last of an older
favorite of mine...
My stash of "hoarded" fabrics is being
whittled down...I want to
"USE" them --not leave them on the shelf...

I have only two Ojos left...
But
finding
good binding fabrics for those is
pretty challenging with all those
colors--
Perhaps B&W fabrics???

If you made it to the end of this long-winded
post I congratulate you..;)))

MY LITTLE BOAT, et al

Out on our deck this morning I
began to quilt Moon Garden Stars--
little boat....

Here is how much difference the
hand quilting makes:
It adds so much texture and movement for my little boat
sailing through the waves....;)))

[doesn't that shape remind you of
an Italian Gondola?
Hmmm...
perhaps another
"take" on this pattern?]

Here is the little carry-all
I use for my
hand quilting bits and bobs:

It holds everything in the
many little zipper
pockets

A really nice little take-it-everywhere travel holder...
It was originally supposed
to be used for holding
makeup and sundries
while traveling.

I got it at a local
Vera Bradley sale event
many years ago...

bought it mainly because we
were going on a cruise and
I L💗VED that
pattern....
;)))

AND...

Now that our traveling days
have gone by, I can remember
the trips while I put it to
good use.

***********************
My little pot of marigolds finally
decided to give me a couple
little flowers and some buds:

[I had planted two other pots
with seeds but they didn't come up]

They are a lot
smaller
than I expected
and leggier;
I hope if I cut the blooms and
perhaps trim it a bit it will
fill out more?
We shall see...

********************
Tonight's supper will be
BBQ'd steak tips
(which I got on sale last week)
marinated in DH's special
sauce...
and I made macaroni salad
for our side
and some lovely
snowflake rolls...
A real Summer feast for two..

It is a beautiful Summer day here,
the kind I remember my
childhood Summers to
all have been...
Memory is a funny thing, isn't it?
Ever changing on you....

BIND THY TIME

Autumn Meadows and Joy are all bound.

and
here is a look at the reverse of each
I used leftover binding for Joy and
made the pinkish one for Autumn Meadows...

Three more to go....

**********************
The rain has begun here--so far no
big storms just light sprinkles.
I her that North of us they are
getting heavy thunder and lightning
storms...

***********************

It is a resting afternoon for both of us;
DH had his first PT appointment and
said he didn't hurt that much
BUT
he is taking a nap right now...

And I did our weekly shopping which
always seems to tire me out...
I see a nap in my future, too..

I hope you have a restful
afternoon...

DECK QUILTING

I spent some time out on our deck
this afternoon hand quilting
"Moon Garden Stars"
There was a lovely breeze for about
a good hour...

I have finished the top section
of my little wall hanging:

I have the boat and waves left to work on...

and most likely a couple lines around the border...

It was just so quiet and peaceful stitching today..
:))))
A real "AAAAAH time...

I hope you have some quiet moments
today too...

MY BOHO GYPSY CARAVAN

Come travel with me in my
new
"Boho Gypsy Caravan"
gluebook...
:)))))))))))
💙💚💛💜
W E L C O M E
💙💚💛💜

I'll let you peek through the window
to see what's going on...;)))
*************
When we were first married and
pretty low on funds, Tom and I
went tenting and camping for
our vacations...
We never did get ourselves
a "caravan" but have always
wished that we had....

So when I began  watching
and following "Kristina's Shack"
on YouTube
and saw
her CARAVAN
mixed media journal videos that
she and her YT friend
"Sylvia D" are
making
I fell down that proverbial
RABBIT HOLE
;)))
🐰🐰🐰🐰

********************************
I got so fascinated with their work,
and so enjoyed watching their
videos,
I decided why not
[make and]
take a Caravan journey
of my own?

SO....
I drew my own caravan shape on
an old manilla folder and
then fabri-tacked  the outer
covers with fabrics..

Above is the back cover
which I haven't decorated as yet.

 Here are the reverse  sides
of each cover below
↓↓↓↓
All the inner pages will
be paper of some sort:
watercolor, scrapbook,
leftover bits and bobs for
the bases...

I made two Suffolk puffs for the wheels
and am connecting the pages  with a
binder ring...
that way
I can remove each page
when I want to work on it...

I can tell you that
the circular window posed
quite the challenge for me...👹

Both Kristina and Sylvia
gave each other prompts,
some of which I will borrow;
but mine will be more of a
memory journal of places
we've visited when we
were younger....

I hope you will follow along as
I take a walk down our memory lane
and visit some of my dream
places, too....

Hugs on a rainy day,
