MY LITTLE FLAGS, et al

My Little Flags is almost all quilted..;
I just need to do the borders....

I embroidered a little heart on
each blue field:

I love how this is coming out...

***********************************
And....
YUP...

Here is the result of my
my "just for fun"
sewing time with
yet another Ojos...
I am trying to
use up most of my
pink scraps --
with a few lilac ones
added to the mix...

These Ojos are my relaxation sewing...;)))

****************************
We are looking forward to a lovely spate of
sunny days according to the
weather person....
Let's hope it will be so....

Have a lovely weekend

Rhodie, et al

We transplanted this rhodie a couple
years ago and it has finally
decided to bloom --profusely--
this year.  The true color is more of a
pinky-lavender than what shows
in the above picture...

****************************
Today has dawned sunny and beautiful
for deck sitting while easing into the
morning with our coffees...
I worked a bit on August Zinnia
The blue "sky sections" are done and now i am working my
way around the sunflower borders in bright yellow...

********************************
Yesterday I cut batting and backing and
layered up these two little
"Quilt-lets"
They are ready for pin basting....
and
here are the backings..

You may recall this is leftover
from my JP Moon Stars piece
as the boat....
It was just right for backing
My Little Flags...

*********************************
Tonight we are having an easy, light
meal:
Tuna melts on Rye bread
with leftover potato salad I
made yesterday....
And
fresh strawberries
for dessert....

I hope your Memorial Day
weekend is a good one.
We will be watching F1 Quali
this afternoon.....

LITTLE FLAGS, et al

I began making these darling Little Flag blocks after seeing them on
Melisa's blog last week...
I absolutely had to make a few...;)))

Her Little Flags quilt is just adorable!!
AND...
She has a wonderful little tutorial posted
for us readers...;))

I just couldn't resist with the 4th of July coming up
sooner than we think, right???

Here are my 6 little flags
All ready to be layered and quilted.

I made them from just chunky, scrappy
leftovers--

what fun blocks to make!!
thank you Melisa...
💙💓💙

I hope to layer this up this
Memorial Day weekend-
[How apropos is that???]
so I can begin to quilt it ...

*******************************
We had thunder boomers and some rains
this morning and early afternoon...
but the worst of that storm front
passed to our north...

I hope your upcoming long weekend will
be a wonderful one for you all...

AUGUST ZINNIA PROGRESS, et al

Now I have two sections of
"August Zinnia"
quilted...
AND
if you look closely you can see at the top
we are watching the Red Sox v. Tampa Bay's
Game 4 of this series...

I've been doing most of my quilting
watching "The Boys of Summer"
:)))))

This is my view  from my recliner....
with all my little tools laid out
on my favorite Geisha table runner...
↡↡↡
...along with my cup of ice water...

I am trying to drink a lot more water
throughout the day....

****************************

Tonight I made us
pork fried rice for a
light supper;
that means later on
we will have an ice cream treat...
Y U M

My favorite is Friendlie's
Cherry Chocolate Chip
💓💖💝

We had yet another rainy day
and night last night--a total
of 2.79"
Time to seriously think about
building that Ark!!
😂

I hope you are all enjoying your quilting
journeys....

FLOWERING SNOWBALLS, et al

!!!HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY ALL!!!
tomorrow...

These froggies are jumping for joy
to be the backing for:
🌷🌷
My Flowering Snowballs...
My "Flowering Snowballs" quilt is
all layered up
and
pin-basted
for hand quilting...

Don't you just love this happy print???
Plants and cute froggies--
what could be a better
backing   ;)))
🐸🐸🐸🐸
*************************
Tomorrow my daughter, Candice
will be down for a visit...
Today, after house work,
I will be working a few more
rows on:
August Zinnia...
🌻🌹🌻
If there were not so much
pollen and "stringey-stuff" from
trees floating around I
would be out on our deck...
but this is definitely an
Allergy-Alert Day!!

So.....
I will be inside pretty much.
There is a Red sox game on at
4:10 p.m. so I will be stitching
while watching that--
my poor team is not doing very
well this year...
S I G H
but
miracles can happen they
tell me!!
😁

I wish you all a very
Happy Mother's Day
celebration...

YESTERDAY, TODAY, and TOMORROW

YESTERDAY:
 dawned beautifully;
got up to the mid 70's
SO
it was warm enough to sit out here
on our back deck shaded under
our awning
(after our field walk )
and have our
coffee...
💘👫
I brought out my little
Vera Bradley pouch
and my current book to
spend my morning with...

I mean you HAVE to enjoy these
days when they dawn, don't you?

Zipped it open to my hand
quilting supplies --
love all those little pockets that
zip shut!!
and
Picked out my thread...for the petals
of my Little Quiltlet"
"August Zinnia"
↧↧↧↧
I finished working the spokes with an
old DMC palest of blues
and then--
began
the fun part...
😄😇

Working on the petals ....

What fun to sit out and stitch...
😍😎
AAAAH--
how relaxing...

**********************************************
TODAY:

We awakened to a much cooler
 56 degrees,
heavy rains,
and fog....

So, I decided to finally look for the
border fabric for my
"Flowering Snowball" piece...

I liked an indigo Japanese style
fabric that I thought would
set off all those little squares..
And I also found
(surprise, surprise)
that it had turned out MUCH
larger than I thought
(28 by 42)!
😩😨😧

Here it lies, laid out on my
dining table awaiting
layering and pinning...

A closer look at that indigo border
fabric with birds over ocean waves...
Isn't that a pretty fabric to set it off?
I am happy that i had enough to
go all around...I cut 2" strips and
have perhaps 8" left...
This quilt will rest for a bit while my
back recovers from standing
to cut and sewing...

**********************
TOMORROW:
We have workers coming
to change our internet provider--
they were scheduled to come
today, but the stormy weather
delayed them...💧🌂🌁⛈
***
And I will do our weekly shopping;
now knowing that my daughter will
be coming down for Mother's Day
and my Birthday;))))

Oh--- and here is a pix of the backing on
my "Scrappy Snowballs" piece
which is all pinned and
ready to be quilted...
I really love this paisley fabric...
I think it looks so vintage ;)))

FLOWERING SNOWBALLS PROGRESS

I have the main body of my "Flowering Snowballs" sewn together...

I just love the scattered bouquets strewn among the
snowball centers...
💗💝💜

Left to do is:
to add on the sides,
and top and bottom
borders which
 will also be
all squares...

Then the final border fabric
which is always
the most difficult to
find for me....

Here are my
"Go Baby!"
die cut squares I have
precut:

I did have them all sorted by color, but
as I worked on the longer vertical strips
[18 squares in each vertical strip]
they got a bit messy!!:))))

I have found working with die cut squares
makes the job a lot easier--no weird
cuts to deal with!!

After joining the two rows of
three blocks each together--
(One block = 4 snowballs
sewn together with squares
-so
you can see that each row has
3 complete blocks )
I am taking a break...
😊😌😍
All this matching up went pretty well;
not all the seam joins are perfect,
but I am ok with that...

BRAMBLE BLOOM 1 FINALE

Well..........I am calling this one
done...
[except for stitching those
little circles on the brown border...]
😟

I was up at 5 a.m. in my room working on this...
I found that turquoise dot fabric that I've had
in my stash for years...and decided to use it
to shadow it in those little pieced blocks
and separate all those sq in sqs...
the night sky fabric picks up
the pansy centers,  I think (hope!!) and
I am calling her:

"NIGHT BLOOMS"
Here's a photo in the daylight...

I have learned that making a Medallion style quilt
takes a totally different kind of thinking
and mindset from my usual style of
working,,,for sure.

I am anxious to see how it will look
bound and quilted;
I plan to hand quilt it after all this
trial and error work....!!!

**********************************

I don't know if I will continue on with #;s 2 &3
in this series of tutorials...

I hope I can take a deep breath and
use what I have learned on this one
and maybe do them?????
And this time perhaps, have a
bit more confidence that I will
be able to come up with
something..

Thanks so much
💜💙💝💟
💓💕💘💛
for all your
posts and
 encouraging words
along the way...
(visit her site to see all the
terrific variations)

Although I felt like a
"deer in the headlights" a whole lot--
(no kidding!!)
I feel that taking on this challenge
has {hopefully} expanded my
quilting skills...

AND,
 truthfully---

I  REALLY  LIKE  IT!!
YAY!!!!
