"SUNNY DAYS" --A FINISH, et al

Sunny Days is finished --;))))
[except for the label and
trimming errant threads...]
My special quilt holder
was at the ready to hold this up
for the photo..

This is the last Big Quilt in my
UFO pile...
*****************************
I have three smaller pieces
up on my design wall
that will be
the next to be finished
or used as backings:
↓↓↓

Cross roads (which as you can see)
has a lot of glitches--I am hoping
they will quilt out (??) .

Ojos which may be used
as a backing--I am still deciding
as I have a lot of table toppers..

And
my Mourning piece --
this one was all
free cut and hand pieced,
and hand stitched..
a slow stitchery during my
grieving period...

Meanwhile, I have been busy
on my Veggie Garden for the
Down the Garden Path SAL:
this is without a doubt the
biggest challenge for me so far:

I am pretty much finished with
this for now...I know my brain
and hands are;))))

At the top are beets,
followed by
carrots and cauliflowers
(I need more work on the caulis);
then artichokes --
and
kitty has chosen her pumpkin
 ...;)))

[There are 3 kitties in my whimsical
garden of "near-vegetables"--
Can you see them all???
click to enlarge but please be
kind, this is my first attempt
at anything like THIS!!]

I used the buttonhole stitch
for the fences separating
the garden beds...I love
that stitch...so versatile...

And:
I don't know if I can
manage a scarecrow--
[the 2nd part of the prompt].

I will be using this next week to
figure that one out...
But for now my addled mind and
sore hands are in need of a good rest...

GRANNY STRIPE AFGHAN PROJECT

I've begun crocheting a
"Granny Stripe" afghan...
Using up all my leftover yarn from
my knitting days...

[It is interesting to note that in crochet
I hold the hook in the right hand and
the yarn in the left--
opposite of how I knit...
This has taken a bit of getting used to ;)))]

These are the colorways I am using...
all the yarns are from "Miss Babs"
online shop...
such lovely yarns...
I have 3 big cakes (they will wind for you)
like this one:
It is called "Yowza" for a reason
hahaha;)))

I made a granny square afghan years ago
but this is slightly different:
{I saw this on Attic 24, Knitting Natty on YT
and various other YT videos...}

TO START--
I chained 199+3--

(phew!! that was quite
a counting feat!)

at the start
 so this will be a
big long afghan...

I've wanted to practice
double crochet and this really
utilizes that stitch all throughout...

Most mornings I have my coffee, read
my blog comments and answer them; then
I crochet one l  o  n  g
row....it is very calming...
I figure this will take me at least one year
to finish....meanwhile, it has already
begun to warm my lap as I go ;)))

*****************************
Sunday's supper tonight
is an easy-peasy one:

[We have always called it a
"supper" on Sundays
rather than "dinner" for
some reason].

Tuna salad sandwiches on
toasted bakery rye bread with
lettuce along with
french fries and pickled beets.
Yummy-ness...😁😏

Note:
I use a pinch of dried mustard
and one of ginger to spice up
my tuna a bit-- along with:
a sprinkle of
chives, tarragon, basil
and dried onion flakes mixed
in my mayo...

What spices do you use in your
tuna salad?

I hope your Sunday is a restful
day for you...

FEBRUARY PROMPT: VEGETABLE GARDEN/SCARECROW

Our next Down the Garden Path
prompt is a vegetable garden and/or
a scarecrow...
I thought I would stitch this cute little
saying along my path:

"Plant your seeds in a row--
↓↓↓↓
"...one to eat and one to grow".

My letter stitching is not that great, but as
I am thinking of this piece as a practice
of sorts, being the 1st time I've made
anything like this, I am leaving it
as it is....
[eg: "O's" are so HARD!!]
πŸ‘€πŸ‘Ή
I haven't decided whether to add a
scarecrow or not...
And my Garden plantings will reside
along and above the path in little beds...
Whether I stitch the veggies  or
applique them I haven't as yet
decided...

The squares of fabric on the base
may work as planting beds as is--
or I may use Inktense pencils
to add the look of
a garden bed...

Decisions, decisions...

*******************************
We are presently in a high wind warning
and this cold front is bringing extreme
cold to our area...so we
are indoor people today...
