DAYS OF MY LIFE.....

I have set up my new Journal for 2024
Above is the cover holding
my 2024 Hobonichi Techo Weeks
life book
below:

My color for the New Year is
lavender....

My Monthly at-a-glance calendar
is all set up for appointments, etc.

And below, my weekly/daily
at-a-glance
is ready to go also...

It has my meals (L) for each day and
on the little right square a daily reminder for
my allergy pill and my daily eye drops...

On the 2nd page (R) is just a daily few lines
for things I want to remember...
AND
I also put the time I get up, temp,
and weather on the gray-colored line...

[that little diamond encrusted wing is
left over from an older broken
charm bracelet-- as is the
little beach sandal...]

Here, below are my actual diary
pages, watercolored and
"stickerized" :
(this should be a word hahaha!!)

Sections are dated, the moon phase
is hand-drawn and
colored-in
for each daily entry...

My spine danglers are
a poodle (blue)
for my little growing up doggie
"Jou-Jou"
and a mother-of-pearl heart with a
butterfly that a close friend
gifted me...

I visit my Journal 1st thing
each morning....;))))
anchoring my day....
then,,,,,,
I usually do my crossword and
check blogland for
comments and posts...

***************************************
As this old year closes and
the "Janus" doorway opens to
2024, I want to thank all
my followers and readers
for the lovely comments and
 support and encouragement
for all of my projects..

I truly appreciate you all--
:))))))))))))))
💓💙💚💛💜💝

Many many hugs,

"HAVE YOURSELF A SCRAPPY LITTLE CHRISTMAS..."

Here is my scrappy little
table mat...
It just needs borders and
quilting...

AND...
I will be adding one more row
of "Golden" Ojos to the right
centering the white ones...

I STILL seem to have more scraps and
cut-offs left in my two baggies...
It's a Christmas miracle how
they multiply ;)))))

***********************
My Raspberry cactus has decided to
give me a couple more blooms after
dropping most of its buds
on its way home...
You can almost see through the petals....
One little piece broke off, so
I've put it in water to develop more
roots and then I will pot it in
soil.....

*************************
We see a lot of these folks in the late
afternoons...
Resting under our little lit tree...

********************************
I hope these days leading up to
Christmas are fun for you....

CRUMB BLOCKS, et al--Sewing on a Stormy Monday

After making the Christmas Ojos for a while,
I wanted to use up the crumbs and cut-offs
from those...
The "crumb" works are on the right above

Below are some closer up pix↧↧↧↧

And these
Will I just set them all together, or make them
into separate blocks with a sashing...????
Stay tuned,,,,,

*****************************
I am now making some more Ojos with golden centers...
They take quite a while to put together...
in groups of 4...
on telephone paper 4" squares...

*******************************
We seem to be in a lull at noon here
from the storms that hit us.
We had a "white knuckle"
drive over the CT River Bridge
this morning to my
Clinic appointment.

Looking outside now it seems impossible
that the storms have totally cleared up
and the sun is shining brightly...
P H E W
glad that's over with...
I am not a fan of driving on bridges to
begin with, so i was really happy
that Tom drove us..
👫

This afternoon is for resting up
with a leftover meatloaf for
dinnertime...
so no cooking today...

ROW-A-DAY CROCHET. et al

I am crocheting away on my afghan
each early morning.
One row
[--and sometimes 2--]
is just the right amount
 to allow me to
crochet without my
hands hurting...

I use this as a slow way to
ease into most days...
It seems to ground me...
The slow repetitive motions
are soothing...

Today I changed colors and
added this amazing
pink that looks like my
raspberry cactus
which is ready to bloom
↧↧↧
Another pretty color from
"Miss Babs" yarn online that
I had gotten years ago...
👀👀👀
My Raspberry cactus sits
in between
the peach and white...
It originally came with buds already
blooming, but then abruptly stopped when
I moved it to this new location--
but now, it seems happy to be
with its friends :)))
Maybe I will have 3 blooming
at the same time...
What a treat on these
cold, gray days...

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The good family news is that Tom is
feeling much better; and we
think/hope that this has
cleared up on its own; and
was most likely just a partial
obstruction; his plan to stop
food intake and walk a lot
[this is what his hospital stays
included]
seems to have worked...

P H E W !!!

AND
Jeff, is feeling better after testing
positive for Covid last
Thursday...😓
He got really
sick--bed sick--
as he called it...
but  he is now slowly
feeling better.
Just totally exhausted...
and still symptomatic...

We shall see what this means
for our Christmas gathering....

Stay safe out there, guys;
latest booster + flu shots
to keep healthy during this
run up to the Holidays

It's still out there!!!

BRAMBLE and CACTUS

My central panel for Audrey's QAL is
finally all hand stitched down...

I decided to use a simple little running
stitch along the flowers' raw edges

I used the same color purple thread for all
the little circles...
thinking of
crocus colors...

This will go up on my design wall and
wait for the next prompt...
*****************************

Here is my new white Cactus...
in bloom ...

It just looks so
Festive for
this time of
year....
with that bit of
red/mauve peeking out
;)))))

And my
Peach cactus continues to
 bloom profusely...
:)))))

These blossoms look like silk...
don't they??

****************************************
We are having a quiet, restful day;
Tom had a bit of a scare this
morning thinking that he was
having another obstruction event;
but so far, so good---it
seems to be going away
on its own...
Fingers crossed that it will...and
that another ambulance/hospital
event won't happen...

CHRISTMAS OJOS, et al

Working on my Christmas Ojos piece
this afternoon; I noticed
that I am really running low
on my stash of
Reds and Greens..

THEN....
the mail arrived
 and I
received
this lovely huge package
of these
↧↧↧↧
I won Sally's
 [click to visit her blog]
December giveaway
and all this yumminess !!
;))))))
A huge bundle of cut offs and
strips all ironed and neatly
folded...
All reds and greens...

Thank you so much Sally..
💓
********************************
My Peach Cactus is all bedecked with
a ga-zillion blooms

And more to come...

******************************
I took out my "Christmas Puppies"
lap quilt today
Christmas Coins setting...with
white bar separators...

*****************************
I will be continuing to work
on my Christmas Ojos project
a little each day...now that
I have a lovely variety of
reds and greens....

All that is left to put out is my little
collection of bottle-brush trees...
I have to decide where to
display them this year...

MINI GARDEN, et al

Just this morning, on our quick grocery
run, I found this lovely white
Christmas cactus...
Now we are three....
A little Mini Garden...;)))

I am so excited to have plant windows
in our newly set-up, side tv room...

The peach one has begun to bloom
prompting me to believe it
likes its new home;)))
It is actually a darker peach than this--
the bright Northern light has
washed out
the pix....

*******************************
Here is what my red, green and white
scrap bags have yielded:

A few Christmas Ojos with either white or
[just a few] gold centers...
they need to be paper stripped and
then sewn together.
I was hoping to find more of that
gold--but only
"just" had enough to make
four little blocks..
so I took one of the
 blocks with white centers
and put it in the center..

This little left strip will be the center of
my countertop table runner to match last
year's red dotty placemats...

This looks on the orange
side, but it is redder than this
;(((((

I hope to add to the white centered
ones if i can dig out more red and green
hiding in other unsorted scrap bags...

***********************************
Here is a little nighttime shot of our little tree
in our side tv room...
It just looks so magical to me...

After Christmas, this table
will become another mini garden with
African Violets and perhaps
a nice begonia...
**********************
Here is a long shot of our
living room during our 4 o'clock
cocktail hour last evening...

Our Christmas wreath is now up
by my piano....

Our living room tree  is below

Every evening  around 4 pm we sit on
either side of this picture window which looks
out upon our back woods, have a cocktail and
watch for deer meandering through....

And here is a little vignette on one
of my kitchen corner shelves
The two Willow Tree statuettes
which  were gifts from friends
when Tom retired 20 years ago now!!
AND.....
Where has the time flown????
***********************************
And so I  leave you with this little
picture of our house at
Christmas.
Very minimally decorated,
but truly enjoyed...

DECEMBER BEACH WALK, et al

Looking out from beneath the railroad tunnel onto our beach....

Brilliant sunshine blinds me, but my little phone camera
captures the view beautifully anyway....
serendipity...;))))

Storms have washed a lot of seaweed up on the
shoreline in long curved swathes...

In the distance you can just make out
geese swimming while honking loudly.

We haven't been down here all Summer long;
in fact it's been way too long....

This walk in requires that my back is
in good shape; a friend tells me that just
beside the tunnel is a bench for
sitting; and so, I am able to make
the trek....

I walk the shore once with Tom and then sit
gazing out to sea and smelling that wonderful
salty air while he does his three tours....
The bright sunshine keeps me warm....

There is just something about the ocean
that is so calming....

*********************************
I hung up my JOY banner in
our little entrance hallway
yesterday....
I had such fun putting this together...
I used up most of my mini charms
on it...my morning walk has given
me
JOY...

My Grand-mere crocheted the lace
across the  top and
I collected the
driftwood and shells...

The reverse fabric is an old fashioned winter
scene that reminds us of old
Currier and Ives prints.
I will turn it over for the days after
Christmas until the first
daffodils emerge in the Spring..

I hope JOY has visited you today...
