PICOTEE FINISHES, et al

The last bloom on Picotee is fading fast...
It has certainly given us a lot of
lovely flowers....
Now to let it rest and hopefully Summer
it over for its next seasonal flowering,,,,

In contrast my red waxed amaryllis
has made very S L O W
progress...
Seeing some fresh green shoots
makes me hopeful that it
will eventually bloom.

After my experience with
my Picotee "Ghost" bulb,
I am being patient with
this one...
Fingers crossed...

***************************
I have been setting up my 2nd Pita
Cracker Box Junk Journal to be
ready for when I need it...
↓↓↓↓
Here it is in its "bare-bones" state;
I only made four signatures this time as
my present one with 5 is really a
 "chunky monkey" ;)))
making it hard to write in..
[for non journal makers--"signatures"
are groups of pages bound in
separately...] You can
see the four packets of
papers in the above photo...
bound into the spine with
strong waxed thread...

On this one I distressed the
pages with Distress Oxide and
water:
I really love this grunged-up look to the pages...
It should be a lot of fun working in this one...

Tomorrow, our children and grands
will be coming to visit
for the Easter Sunday
afternoon...
I hope that you all are having a
wonderful Holiday weekend...

PLUGGING AWAY, et al

Still hand quilting on my "Christmas Ojos"..
I am working on 1/4 block at one sitting...

I have the central three [4-part blocks]
done and need
to work on the outsides now...
and....
Here is a little close up of the central
block..

AND
Here is the backing fabric:
Christmas Puddings ;)))
🎅🎅
↧↧↧↧
It's hard to see the quilting lines on the white but they
show up well on the puddings;))

*******************************
The "tippy-top" of
PICOTEE amaryllis
is now in full bloom...
There are 4 more blossoms on display...

This one has sure given us quite a show!!:)))

STOCKING MY NEW "PARTS DEPARTMENT", et al

I worked this morning on die cutting:
3 sizes of strips--
2", 1.5" and 1";
5" squares,
Lg. 1/4 sq triangles,
and small 1/4 sq triangles.

All using my dies...
the little leftover pieces
I will then sub-cut into 2.5", 2" and 1.5"
squares...

Since I have so much trouble
these days with rotary work
I've decided to pre-cut
my fabrics into usable
sizes....beginning with
this bin of Batiks
below

Here is the bin of batiks I've collected
and
NEVER USED!!!!!

This is all part and parcel of my cutting back
(no pun intended haha)
on my fabric stash
and paper crafting supplies...

Here are some boxes I've already
emptied:
Some of the contents were donated
to Heart Springs and
more will be donated as I decide what
to keep and what to de-stash...

I really think it is so very
DIFFICULT to
"Let things go"....
A lot of these items date back
from when I first started to quilt...

At this point in my life, there is
no way I'll ever ever use it all up!!
So, I am hoping that
someone else can
put the stuff to good use...

I worked for 1 and 1/2 hours with
resting breaks of 5 minutes...here
and there...
PHEW...
("We have only just begun..." as
my song for all occasions).

A little bit each day--with time
to sit and survey how my
room is set up....
and will now be set up
on a much smaller scale.

We would like to move our
treadmill in here from its
present position in the bedroom...
**************************

Here is the latest news flash ;))
on PICOTEE
The bottom layer of flowers have faded and now
it seems that---
👀👀👀
Surprise, Surprise
there will be yet another
layer of blooms at the "tippy-top"!!

What a fabulous bloomer
💓💓💓
and
"Waxy Amaryllis"
is peeking out...
we shall see if she will favor
us with any blooms...

*************************
Tonight I
 am making a recipe from
"Yellow Bliss.com"
A taco version:
Called "Taco Ring"

Doesn't that look yummy?
I got all the ingredients this morning at
the grocery....
I will let you know how it comes out...

Hugs on a beautiful sunny morning,

REGISTER RECEIPTS?

 Just a quick note:

I received a text from a blog following well-wisher last night warning me that

register receipts are TOXIC to handle...containing BPH or BPS.

I guess I won't be using them at all anymore- So much for my little

"use it up" discovery, huh???

So, I googled it and yes, toxicologists recommend

not handling receipts....This type of paper is banned in all of Europe

and Canada...!!

Note: ask cash register worker to either throw it out or put it in bag for you

Wash hands after touching it if you even handle it...and especially do not eat after

touching it..

Look it up for yourself...✊👀

WEEKEND PAPER CRAFTING, et al

I took my grocery receipts and made some
"GRAFITTI STRIPS" .

I used up alot of the tiny torn off bits from my
Junque Journaling...which I saved:
and...
stamps, sparkles, and torn
old papers...and washi tapes.

I saw these on
Youtube's
"Caroline on the Hillside"
and had to make my own version.

;)))))
This is my first attempt....

and a closer look at it

And:
Below is my 2nd shorter tape collage:
[Torn magazine pieces are featured on this one]
↓↓↓↓
A closer look:

And....

NEXT:
A more neutral "take"

I used little torn sections from my
Opera Librettos old book--
here,
my little stamped "she"
 is Melisande" ;)))

I had such fun making these using up
a lot of my what would have been
 tossed out trash bits...

I plan tot use these in my next
 Junque Journal effort...

*******************************
We watched formula One Racing
Fri, and Sat.

********************************
Sunday supper will be:

Yesterday's left over meatloaf
sliced into sandwiches and
left over potatoes made into
pan fries with onions on the side...

********************************
No leaks overnight, thank heavens,
despite the heavy rains--
Tom's taping up held,
at least for now...
this week he will contact the
Window manufacturer's
local representative to
see what is available for us...
Hopefully not too much $$$$'s!!!
👺

Enjoy your Sunday

RAINY DAYS, et al...

Lashing, wind-driven rains from the East
have given us a leaking window frame;
whether (weather haha??) or not
it's the actual window wood surround
or the flashing we don't know as yet...

So, DH has taped it up until we can get
someone to come and check it out..
👹👺👽👿
And, of course we noticed this late in the
evening when I thought I heard a loud
splashing sound--at first I thought it
might be the downspout on the corner
near this window, but then I felt and saw
the water on the inside...ugh
Isn't it always something with a house????
************************
AND now....
On to better things:

I am pin basting "Late Autumn"
and
working slowly on "Christmas Ojos (below)
I really so enjoy doing this--
one little square at a time...
hope my hands hold out...
✌👍👏

******************************
File under:
Everything Comes and goes:
Picotee blossoms are beginning to fade
and all the while.....
others are still getting ready to bloom
↴↴↴↴↴↴
almost opening blossom
and
 new bud ....
:)))))

Since I had such luck with this
amaryllis I decided to
try a Waxed Amaryllis type:
no watering needed,
it comes ready to bloom
with just a light source,
but no sun...
This baby was also on sale...;)))
As you can see, it has begun to
emerge...
;))))
💚💓💚

That's a "wrap" for today--
We are still having gusting winds
that are
whipping rains against our
windows...
!!!!!!!

Fingers x-ed that the tape
will hold....😟

Hugs, Julierose,

P.S.  A bit "under the weather" here
so may be off for a couple days...

SPRING WORKS, et al

I made a set of "Hugs and "Kisses"
for Spring--still working on the
borders...

and

I took out my "Button Baskets"
early to brighten up our
dining area...

The "baskets" are all scraps:
at "Gone 2 the Beach"
sent me that light blue/red one--
I had enough to use in two baskets...
:))))
Thank you Quilty Friend...

In here:↴↴↴↴
is a piece from my DH's pj's
😁
that dark blue plaid--

and all the handles are from a very old piece
gifted to me from an older friend...
and
the buttons are from my Grand-mere's
button collection...
I really enjoy looking at this one...
*************************
"Late August"
is a small flimsy
ready to be backed,
layered, and quilted...
↧↧↧↧
I couldn't resist adding those
sunflowers--I felt it needed
this print--
I hope to find a backing and
layer this up this week...
**********************************

P I C O T E E
continues to stun us with ever-more
blooms....
This one will come out in the
middle of those two layers

and...
yes, still more to come
HERE
↴↴↴↴
At the
"Tippity-Top"

I count TEN in all...
who would have imagined that
my "Ghostly" amaryllis would
be such a producer of
beauty?

**********************************
We have hit 60 degrees
here this afternoon...
and Tom will be bbq-ing burgers
for us--what a treat....
those and tater tots...
will be our Sunday Special
today...
