Lashing, wind-driven rains from the East
have given us a leaking window frame;
whether (weather haha??) or not
it's the actual window wood surround
or the flashing we don't know as yet...
So, DH has taped it up until we can get
someone to come and check it out..
πΉπΊπ½πΏ
And, of course we noticed this late in the
evening when I thought I heard a loud
splashing sound--at first I thought it
might be the downspout on the corner
near this window, but then I felt and saw
the water on the inside...ugh
Isn't it always something with a house????

AND now....
On to better things:
I am pin basting "Late Autumn"
and
working slowly on "Christmas Ojos (below)
I really so enjoy doing this--
one little square at a time...
hope my hands hold out...

File under:
Everything Comes and goes:
Picotee blossoms are beginning to fade
and all the while.....
others are still getting ready to bloom

almost opening blossom
and
new bud ....
:)))))
Since I had such luck with this
amaryllis I decided to
try a Waxed Amaryllis type:
no watering needed,
it comes ready to bloom
with just a light source,
but no sun...
This baby was also on sale...;)))
As you can see, it has begun to
emerge...
;))))

That's a "wrap" for today--
We are still having gusting winds
that are
whipping rains against our
windows...
!!!!!!!
Fingers x-ed that the tape
will hold....π

P.S. A bit "under the weather" here
so may be off for a couple days...

I hope you are able to get someone over soon to find the leak, especially since it is on the wood. I love the border on Late Autumn, it goes perfectly with the solids in the center.

Home repairs are inevitable. My husband recently fixed our outdoor faucet that had broken on the "inside" of the house - ugh! Late autumn looks great with the border all sewn on. I notice you have the same pinning tool that I use. That is the best little tool.
ReplyDeleteThe stitching on your Christmas quilt is really beautiful. It will be interesting to see what you think of the waxed amaryllis.
ReplyDeleteWishing you the best with the waxed amaryllis. The set of 3 we had a year or so ago were less than impressive - only one bloomed! But they are also less $ so maybe there was a trade off with ours. Home repairs - the never ending story.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, for sure there is always some problem about to happen or that's just happened, especially when one owns a house. I'm so sorry for the leaking window. I hope it's not much of a hassle to get it fixed and that the rain has stopped. Water can do so much damage inside a home!
ReplyDeleteLate Autumn looks beautiful. I think the sunflower fabric is so good because it reflects both the reds and the yellow in the center block.
I hope your hands hold out, too. But there's no hurry to get this finished, right, since Christmas is still 9 months away?
How many flowers has Picotee had so far? It will be interesting to see how your waxed amaryllis grows. I always wondered about them....
Yikes a leak! I hope all goes well with the repairs, Julierose. Your quilts are looking amazing Gorgeous fabrics in both. I wish you a fabulous and productive weekend.
ReplyDeleteI hope the window repair will be an easy fix and not too expensive.
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling "on" now Julierose, :D
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers for spring. And how neat is that Late Autumn and your stitching on the Christmas quilt too. You always have wonderful stitchy projects to share.
I stayed in all day yesterday. I didn't want to go out in that rain. Your flowers are so pretty. I feel like the house always needs something fixed. It's nice to own your own house but it's not always easy.
ReplyDeleteHope both the weather outside and the weather you're under improve soon. The waxed amaryllis looks intriguing. Love the "cartwheel."
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better and that the weather has improved too...don't need leaks, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteI've seen the amaryllis bulbs that are coated in wax and wondered about them. Will be interested to follow how yours evolves.
