GARDEN THOUGHTS , et al

My transplanted peony has
finally deigned to bloom for me;)))
It came from our old house and
has stubbornly refused to bloom
in its new spot...
When it opens completely, the
center is a light raspberry color.

And
Here is my old transplanted (2 times!)
Rhodie:
Apparently it finally likes that corner of our
house....;))) See how dry our lawn is!!

Here is a closer look at its lovely
blooms

I just love that pinky-lavender color
it sports....

And
from my front of the rock
garden spot

My Japanese Iris has come out, too--
plus some buds awaiting the
rain, I think...it has been
super dry here...

They look like crepe paper in this
stage--so lovely...all those
delicate shades of purple...

And
By the side of our garage and
front of our tv room we have a
couple Bearded Iris left
(after the disruption of a
propane generator installation)
They ended up unknowingly digging
up most of my irises ;000

A true light lavender on these
they were a gift from a friend
long ago ...

As the blossoms fade away,
 they look like
thin papers...

I hope you enjoyed that little stroll about
my limited garden areas this year.
******************
I have been watching "Susan Hiles Art"
on Youtube and she is also letting us
follow her progress on container gardening...

It inspired me to buy some sunflower seeds
and some "Silver Coins" seeds and
"Cherry rose" sunflower seeds...
We shall see how they do..')))

SUNDAY SEWING, et al

I've added a few more blocks
in the past week...
[some more successful than others!]

I had to undo (ribbiting is not fun)
a few seams--as these leftover charms are
all slightly (up to as much as1/8th of an inch !)
different--which makes this challenging...
๐Ÿ‘ฟ๐Ÿ‘น๐Ÿ’€
to say the least!!

I decided to go with matching up
the "peaks" as they are easier
for me to see--putting the slightly
smaller blocks on the top and going
with the larger ones!!
It is slow going as I cannot sew
fast while concentrating on matching
those tiny peaks...

*************************
Part Deux of bashing my charm
stash:
↧↧↧↧↧

Here are my two piles of the
"sewn on both edges" blocks all
cut in half
so that
(I will end up with two quilts)
And yet again matching those
Pesky Peaks....
I am doing these first two steps on
all the matching dark/light charms
before sewing the half-cuts
end-to-end and then cutting
them into twosies for the
postage stamp style quilts...

******************************
On alternate days I have been working--
uh, actually ๐Ÿ˜…playing--
in my color glue book:
Here are mostly finished pages--
altho' I will most likely come
back to add small
bits and bobs.
A yellow page
and
A "Gold" page

and
A "Brown" page
Strictly speaking, not all the images are
all of the one color, but do have a lot
of the chosen color on them...
[Otherwise the pages
would be simply
(and boringly!!)
one color!!]

I hope you are all enjoying your
weekend,,,

SUNDAY'S "SLEIGHT OF HAND" (or is it a foot?)

Some of my big stash of charms
did a
"Presto-Change-o"
into these
I've never made "Disappearing
Four Patch" blocks before....
and have discovered that
I like the process...
I have a stack of 20 to
sew a bit at a time...

The top one above was my first try
and I used a different method
to the bottom two..
I prefer the easier for me
bottom "switcheroo-ing"
:)))
**********************
I still have a big pile of
to be sewn on either side
to also make.
So, I will have two
different types of blocks
to work on just using my
charms...
๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ’œ
**********************
this late morning we went for a
Walk on the boardwalk on
the Connecticut River;
it was VERY windy, but
beautiful all the same.

Unfortunately, (sigh),
I tripped and my bad leg
(the sciatic one)
gave way and I landed
on that knee and hand...

I wrenched everything!!!
๐Ÿ˜“๐Ÿ˜จ๐Ÿ˜ฐ๐Ÿ˜ญ
I am resting now and hoping
that it won't set me back
from walking too long...

Tom looked where it happened and
there was a big hole
that was hidden by the
long grass.

*********************
Earlier this morning I made us
 minnestrone soup for supper.
So I won't have to stand
and cook tonight--
a good thing, right??
I hope you can get outside and
enjoy this lovely day...

FUN ON A FRIDAY

I am using up my charm packs:↴↴↴↴
I separated and matched light
to dark charm squares--
all  patterned ones....for
a finished scrappy look.

Then:  I sewed them 1/4" on either side

AND THEN...
I cut them in half at (2.5")
I consider this
the preparation for the next two steps.
But first,
I need to finish sewing this big stack
before
I move on...

I plan to make a postage stamp style
piece out of these...

Stay tuned;)))
for my next step.

{Hint: I am not sewing this
one square at a time}
๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜
**********************************
Our Friday night supper
will be the
Shepherd's Pie I made--
this time with a veggie
layer of carrots as my
DH cannot eat corn anymore--
which is my usual for this recipe...
We will have applesauce on the side.
๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜
Y U M !!
**********************
Still on the coolish side here
at my house-- as the Ocean still
has not warmed up and the
breezes are cold ....brrrrr.
๐Ÿ˜ฆ๐Ÿ˜ง๐Ÿ˜ณ
I hope your weekend will
be wonderful...

LONG TIME, NO SEW, et al

What do you do with a shoe box full of Charm Squares???
Well, since i really haven't sewed in quite a while,
I decided to start at the beginning and just
sew squares into twosies and then foursies...
I chose mostly flowery ones and
paired them with off white squares.

Practicing sewing straight and getting that
seam allowance to behave!!๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ˜Š
So far, I have twosies
paired up and pinned together
ready to become 4-sies...
That is the extent of my sewing for today...
*******************
Then I got a little extra present from
my DH for my birthday yesterday:

It is just perfect for cropping
my little pictures for my glue book...

Here are a few finished pages from my
En Masse Journal:
 My finished "Books" pages
and
Our lovely "Hands"
and
One page finished of the double spread of

Fun "Shoes"๐Ÿ˜‰

Have a wonderful weekend

HELLO, SPRING-- GREEN AND PINK

A Springtime hello to you all;
above is my North facing living room
plant window
with my new spider plant
and

my two mini pointsettias
I am coddling
to hopefully keep them for next
Christmas.

They both seem to be thriving here;
I see little new leaves and
some buds, too.

My favorite is the pink and green one;)))
Isn't she lovely with that shading?
Sigh....
the light lime green one is also
doing really well
so far....
↧↧↧
See that tiny leaflet and those little buddlings?
this makes me so happy;))๐Ÿ˜‡

****************************

All this greenery and "pinkery" (:}}} )
led me to check out my green and pink
scrap bags....

And I just made these:
↴↴↴↴
Just some simple strip sewing--
and----
what will they be you ask???
Answer: I have no idea!
I am hoping something will come to me...

For right now it is enough that I
actually sat down and sewed
for a little bit, pairing these
leftover bits together...
For you see,
I have been in a deep sewing
slump this past month...
as you probably noticed with
no postings...

I just couldn't get myself to
do any sewing at all..๐Ÿ˜“๐Ÿ˜”

So I've just been
reading and glue booking
a bit and working on
my crocheted
afghan...on and off...

I hope this lovely Spring day
brings you joy...

THAT'S LIFE

Hello, hello hello,,,
What's left of me is back....

As my title suggests
Life has happened here
in Spades....

After I finally got over covid,
I came down with a massive cold
and cough...
Then, this past Saturday, Tom had to
be taken to hospital for his
ongoing medical issue...

I drove and picked him up
this morning and we are
home finally...

Phew--maybe that old saw
about troubles coming in threes
means that we are done here!!
Fingers crossed.  ๐Ÿ‘
*******************
As many of you who follow my adventures
know, I began "Down the Garden Path"
hand sewing following the bi-monthly
prompts at:
 #Roxy'sjournalofstitchery
on YouTube....

I have decided that I have done as much
as I  can/want for now
and have added borders to make it into a
small wall hanging...
I am happy with how it looks and will be
making some hanging corners sometime
this week.  (hopefully!)

This has been the only sewing that I
have managed to do....
but it felt good to even do this little
bit of sewing once again.
*********************************
I have been mostly reading, doing my
beloved crossword puzzles and
basically trying to rest up ....

I am reading a mystery
by a new author to me:
Dame Margaret James--
"A Conspiracy of Ravens"

I hope you are all doing well and staying
healthy
