WINGED STRINGS PROGRESS, et al

I got Winged strings together...
I used almost all the cut off scraps to make
that center coin strippy--
I had to take the bottom row off to re-sew
so the blue sashings would match on
either side of the coins...
That was the tricky bit 👀👹!

Here it is vertically:
I think it will look great on my
dining room table with a
pretty centerpiece.

Now to find a backing and layer
it up for pin basting...
This is such a lovely pattern
and really fun to make--um...
now that I have that
squaring up ruler figured out.
😉😀😁😂
*******************
I am making minnestrone
soup for our supper tonight.
A rainy-day special ;)))
*********************
I'd love to make some of these:
↓↓↓

or maybe these....

or these
↧↧↧

or these little "Posies"
SO CUTE;)))
↴↴↴↴

I think any one of them would make a nice
Fall quilt...
[I gave my Fall quilt to a friend a
while back and need to replace it...]

I hope you are having a wonderful
weekend...

SLOW PROGRESS, et al

I am hand stitching around the blue
background stars --slowly..

(the blue is SO much more vibrant
in person,
but as it is so DARK
out today
I needed interior lighting which
has washed it out a lot)

I can only do one every other
day or so...
But....
The binding is all sewn on and
I have 5 more stars to finish up.

In progress....↟↟↟
***************************
It is pouring, teeming rain here this morning
and weather says it will be with us
all day long...
****************************
In other news:

We got our flu shots last Monday and
when we got to CVS--they told us they
had run out of Covid shots..and
they had no idea when they
would get more...
👿
Seeing as they do walk-ins (!!!)--
(so why make an appointment???)
we will be going to our
primary physician's office
for the Covid shots...

I hope you are looking forward to
a nice weekend...
TGIF everyone;)))

SCRAPPY "WINGED STRINGS", et al

Since I've been away from sewing,
I've been sorting by color what is
left in my stash...

AND at the same time--
haunting Youtube,
watching sewing
videos...
for some inspiration...

I saw a gorgeous block on
Beth's "My Sewing Room"
YOUTUBE video tutorial
and I knew I just had to
try one:

But first things first--
I have to confess that I've never been
really good a squaring up 1/2 square
triangles...nope--just could not get my head
around the ruler--
😕😖😗
Yesterday I finally, finally
[gosh, after ALL these years]
figured it out and decided to use my
blues-ey scraps to make this block.

Here it is laid out ready to be sewn
I must admit it took me a while to
figure out that layout--went
back and forth from Beth's video
for sure...;)))

And
TAH-DAH
Here it is together:
I really L💙VE it!!

Thank you Beth for the great
inspiration and tutorial
💙😇
Here is a photo of her block:
So pretty...

I am calling mine
 "Winged Strings"
I will be making a few more
S  L  O  W  L  Y....
*************************
It is such a beautiful, sunny day
today; I plan to sit outside and
read and relax...

Tonight will be bbq'ed cheeseburgers,
on toasted bread, with
tater tots [and broccoli for me].

Fall is just around the corner--
time to take out my
Autumn table toppers
and such...
I was hoping to have Autumn Stars
quilted and ready to hang--but it will
have to wait until next year...

MONDAY'S SCRAPPY SEWING, "FA-LA-LA..."

I found some old red strip sets and some leftover
KF green squares and decided
to make us a couple of Christmas Placemats and
a table runner...FOR US.

Mat #2
↧↧↧
they are slightly different as I only had a couple
of Kaffe squares that I felt would work colorsie.

These are in the first stage and haven't as yet
been trimmed up.
And .......
with the leftovers from these
leftovers 😂---
I made a really scrappy table runner
to go with them...

Bits and pieces, cut-offs etc...
very hodge-podge for sure...
but fun to make...

*************************
And...
I have been
S L O W L Y
stitching the binding on Autumn Stars

I can only do about 1/2 of a side at one sitting
every few days...

*******************************
This is the first day I have allowed myself
to do any kind of sewing work...

My hands are starting to recover,
so I will be taking a few more
days' rest before trimming
these placemats and putting them
together--just to be sure...
And,
I plan on raiding my Christmas box
for the backings and bindings...

It felt so good to sit and sew a bit...

THE HEAT'S ON, ET AL

Here's where you need to be today!!
Muggy yet again :
Temp not quite as high=79.4
but Dew Point is at 76--
murky skies with
thunderheads looming...
Wouldn't rain be nice???

Where O where are you
Cold Front?????

*****************************
I spent the morning catching up on
household chores and making these
Twice baked potatoes
to go with our BBQ-ed
Steak dinner tonight...
Y U M !!!
I know this sounds ridiculous
but.....
I am so happy to be able
 to work around
the house once again
without pain most days...
😊
*******************
I ended up machine quilting
Autumn Stars--with
straight lines on the vertical
and horizontal seams..
I will try to just hand quilt
around the blue stars
but after doing just one yesterday
my hand seized up once more...
Soooo
back to wearing this
I will try a bit of handwork
while wearing this, but just typing here
hurts, so it'll be awhile....
Here is where I am right now:

Here is that little bit of echo quilting
around the star points...
*********************************
Our 58th Wedding Anniversary
is tomorrow
[I know, don't ask!!]
and for my present Tom got me
this lovely item:
A Canon Ivy 2 printer that
prints photos off my phone
:)))))))))))
I am just thrilled with it!
It works so well and the little
photos are 2"x3"
just perfect for my
Junque Journal pages...
He got a new laptop with
a wonderful 15" screen...
Great for our aging 👀👀.

I hope your Sunday is a cool one

"BLUE MOON, YOU SAW ME STANDING ALONE....", et al

Here's my "smudgey" image of that
beautiful, ginormous
Blue Moon...

Tom and I went out to view it and
I tried to snap a pix with my phone...
It was cloudy here as you can see...

[File under Songs for all occasions--
Tom tells me
the song is in the key of Eb];))))

***************************
Here is a cute pix of Willa on her 9th
birthday showing off the glue book
I made for her as part of her gifts:

This girl has the best smile, she just
lights up a room....;)))

*******************
Here is my Nellie Stevens Holly putting
out tons of beautiful red berries
the big plus with this shrub is that
the deer won't eat it at all!!
I just love it...

***********************
Can you all believe that it is
Labor Day weekend already?

My daughter's three youngest
have returned to
college and so,
another school year begins.

******************
I have no sewing to show you as
I haven't done anything this
past week...
except
re-organize and de-stash...
which, I guess is "something"
after all...;)))

I wish you all a wonderful
long weekend
