L'autonne progress, et al

All sewn together and ironed and
up on my wall waiting until after
the holidays for maybe borders and
finishing;  as is
Natale--both of these are waiting
until after our upcoming
"busy busy days" leading
up to Christmas.

**************************
I will be concentrating on Bramble QAL
which I have just begun to
baste Jude Hill style;

AND
***************************
I will be armchair traveling
to
HEXAGONIA
;)))

I have picked up my hexagons in progress
from long ago and will be working
on those in the evenings....
The present color is turquoise..

Here is what I am aiming for:
Saw this online at
"Superscrappy.blogspot,com"

Such a lovely arrangement--
mine will not be that big--but I just love that
rainbow (RSC) effect...
this will be long-term project...;)))

Hugs on a chilly day, brrr,

WEBBING, et al

This morning I  took the
Old Italian L'autonne blocks down and stacked
webbing.....

I have only ever webbed two rows
at one time before--
this is the first time I've done
a whole piece...5 rows across
by 6 rows down...

I have the first run across done!
Tomorrow I will finish sewing
it all together.

A bit unwieldy to handle, but I like
how well the blocks stay in their
order and go together...

*********************
A N D ,,,,
My center for Bramble QAL is still
just basted down
Hoping to get it sewn this week....
once my energy level rebounds
from the holiday...

UPDATES, LIFE , et al

Here is how I will be rotary cutting from now on...
So far this is working really well for me...

This is really an amazing safety
gadget....worked very well for me...
[I have no affiliation with this company]
just really like it...
It has enabled me to finish up
↓↓↓↓

My Old Italian blocks
 all
trued up now...
;)))))

*****************************
Bramble QAL is basted in place
ready for me to begin my
embroidery with the
chosen threads...

And
***************************
I took out my
Dancin' Turkeys
that Dawn and I
made a few years ago...
(she no longer blogs--sadly..)

*********************
Meantime,
we are prepping for our Friday
gathering:
I will be making baked ham,
and green bean casserole;
 and my daughter, Candice
is bringing mac and cheese
casserole; my son, Jeff
 and DIL, Lindsay
 are bringing:
veggie appetizer plate and a
chocolate cream pie (yum!).

We will serve a cheese board,
Tom's cocktail meatballs
and chips and dip ...

Festivities will begin at noon
giving us here plenty of time
to set tables up  etc.

We are so looking forward
to our gathering...
it's been a long while....
Seven years since my Mom passed
and we've hosted
any holiday gatherings...

BRAMBLE RAMBLE

Here is my third iteration of
my Bramble centerpiece...
all pinned in place.

I began here:
With this enlarged sketch

Then went to here
↧↧↧↧
Using the "clay bowl idea" in my mind...

B U T
Somehow it just didn't work for me....
Sat and thought and fingered
through my fabrics that I had pulled
for a week while my thumb healed...

And so I ended up completely
pulling the orange bowl and going
for this:

H E R E...
:))))
Much better...
;)))))
I free cut everything--ditched the templates--
and just went for it...
by 👀👀👀

I thought the deep blue bowl was a
better choice with those purples
that I had in my stash pull...

And instead of the original aqua stems
I had cut....
I went for this "old gold"
piece of leftover that was sitting
on my table...

I cut down the number of flowers
from 9 to 7...,
trimmed down the background
yet again with ruler, pencil line,
and scissors...
[note well--no rotary cutter!!]
***********************
I plan to do "raw edge applique"
by hand as
I did on my fabric Journals last year...
using various stitches
and threads, perhaps even
some beads...

At least that is the plan for now, but
as you know these "best laid"
plans can change...

Hugs from under my parapluie
this Saturday morning..

AND SO IT GOES...

i peeked into my sewing room early this
morning and found this message
from "My Sweet Baboo" ;))))
I so miss just sewing.....;(((

Anyhow...
Here is where I left off with
Audrey's Bramble QAL
I was figuring out the clay pot  size
and
how the little florets would fit...
I had folded the right side of the background
as i think the piece was too wide...
********************
Meanwhile ......
I am making us shrimp and rice for
dinner tonight--only
DH will be having leftover
steak on his rice with
gravy....he is not a
shellfish eater at all...

I am using my lovely rice cooker that
was a gift from my piano students
one Christmas
long ago....

******************************
Here is my "waiting for my
books in the mail"
delivery reading....

And
Here is a little comic I saw on
another blog [I cannot recall whose ;(((( ]
that really pictures this time change
situation for us:
And perhaps for some of you, too....
We are still hungry at the wrong times
and nodding off early....
S I G H....

With this I will sign off for a while...

GLUE BOOKING, et al

Working in my "En Masse" glue book....
These are  the first two "Fashionista" pages--
all fussy cut images from magazines....

AND
I have set up the next two
I decided to back these with cut out
typescripts......for a
different look....

Below, in the same
En Masse Journal are
two finished pages:

S H O E S

And

HANDS,,,,

***************************
I am also working in my previously prepared
Junque Journal pages
while my thumb heals...👍👀
The purple rose washi tape
holds a little "flip out"card for writing
on the reverse...

Below are more prepared pages:

Here is the full two-page spread of this one

My pinky is holding a flip out
and
there are two writing cards on the right side
held in place by a "Belly Band"
across the page....with my
face stamp decorating it...

I do so love putting these pages together;
using labels, junk mail, magazine images,
stickers -- etc ,etc.
Whatever is on hand....
So far I have documented
each day in November....

I do keep a regular daily
written journal in my Hobonichi
Techo , but sometimes I feel the need
for images.....
and gluing!!

******************************
In the meantime---
I am doing a lot of these:
↓↓↓↓

from my favorite collections below
I do one each morning with my first
cup of coffee .....
***********************
You may or may not be seeing much
quilting here for a while for
obvious reasons; but
I am going to try out scissor cutting
and see how that goes....

[DH has threatened to take away
my rotary cutters---hahaha]

"CRANKY-PANTS" DAYS , et al

Does ANYONE like these time changes??
[Fall Back/Spring Ahead]

My son and DIL are both teachers and
they dread this week as everyone, including
the teachers, find themselves
sleep-deprived,
hungry at the wrong times,
and generally irritable!
As do we all....

A N D
I think it added to my doing this
yesterday afternoon:

O  U  C  H  !!!!!!!!

YUP--my first-- and I sincerely
hope the last--rotary cutting
accident!!

I was cutting fabric for stems and
my ruler slipped; the cutter
stayed on its course and
sliced into the lower part of my
thumbnail right through to the quick...
👽
WHAT A MESS!!
👽
I am okay though, thankfully;
just bandaged up and unable
to use that hand until that
nail begins to heal up...

S  I  G  H

It seems every time I start
some new project,
something happens
to me!! 👹

So, if you don't see any "Brambling"
for a bit here----
that is the reason.

I will leave you with the caveat:
to be very careful and cautious
using that rotary cutter.
I may switch over to scissors...
YA THINK?????

"NATALE" IS A FLIMSY

N A T A L E "
[pinned up in place where it will hang]

I finished sewing the borders on this morning....

I think this Kaffee Fassett print sets off
the many red blocks well for this
Christmas wall hanging...

I see 👀 fir boughs decorated with little
glass flower balls...
near Mr. Moon
↴↴↴↴
A festival of Christmas lights....

Here it borders the haloed Angel
⇩⇩⇩⇩
38" x 31"
Perfect for my dining room wall.

I have laid it out on my dining table ready to be layered:

I took it off my design wall so that I could
pin up my Bramble project WIP.

Now to pull my Christmas box down
and find fabrics suitable for the
backing and binding...

**************************
I am still adding more blocks to "L'Autonne"

Here on the right....in progress
It will be 5 x 6 blocks...when done...

I have the next blocks cut
and ready to go...
I just love making these blocks
from start to finish...

SUNDAY "BRAMBLING" or is it BUMBLING ALONG?

Here is my little idea sketch...
for
Audrey's "Bramble QAL".

I did 3 or 4 different ones and
chose this as my finalist.

Sort of, little burgeoning crocuses
in a clay pot...
[or is it crocusii?]....

Way different from my normal
pieced projects style...😐

THEN
I realized I had to enlarge it!!
HUH!!!
👺

And this is where my
"Perfectionist" brain took over
for two  whole days
[and nights, I might add!!]
I pondered how to do it....

I knew there was the graph
square method to
size up and all
but it didn't appeal to me....
too painstaking and time
consuming...not fun
And I am determined to
have "fun" while learning in this QAL!

Then, as I sat staring out the
window not seeing really.....and
sipping my morning coffee....
I thought :

Oh, why not just freehand
the thing....
draw it bigger by eye--
how bad could it be--
??????????????
💁😉

Then I decided
Just Do IT!!
It's just paper after all
and isn't this the whole
OBJECT of this QAL?
So.....
I drew it on an 8x10
piece of copy paper
by eye....👀👀👀👀
pretty quickly, not trying
to overthink, it
like I normally do...

Understand....
I am in no way any kind of artist,
so I closed off any idea of
exact reproduction and
WENT FOR IT!!!

My "loosey-goosey" interpretation....

Here are the relative sizes:
I have a whole new respect for
quilters who see an old quilt and
then reproduce it and
make templates....

Next
I will figure out
the basket ==
so both sides
match up...

Oh, and I found a container to
store everything in:
"My Bramble Box"
1st hurdle overcome...
Y   E   S!!!;)))))
*******************************
DH is out for his daily walk--
i am now trying to figure out what to make
for our supper;
Isn't life just full of decisions--
big, medium and small ones???

We had DH's spaghetti last
evening and there are noodles
leftover, so I may fry them up
with onions, garlic, herbs
and throw in some shrimp for
my meal.
A definite "gibblot";))))

He says he will use
the rest of the leftover sauce and
meatballs over rice --
just enough for one...
We often "do our own thing"
for dinners...
I am so lucky to have such a
wonderful husband who likes
to cook 💕💖💘
*****************************
At noon, we will be watching
the Brazilian Grand Prix...

That's the story so far today;
I hope your Sunday is
a wonderful one....

P.S.  is anyone else feeling like a
"Cranky-Pants" with this time change over????
We definitely are👿
