Let me present: Monsieur Turkey-Lurkey...
Dancing in the barn...feathers all a-flutter
(one foot is shorter because he's doing a do-si-do --hahaha)
And his partner:
Madame Turkey Lurkey...........
(She is doing a left leg lift...as she whirls around on one foot)
For: They are Dancin' Turkeys...
Yup, bet you didn't know turkeys could dance like that ;)))
I hand appliqued the tail feathers using Valdani No.10 gold thread and then machine zig-zagged
bodies and feet...
I still need to sew the "button eyes" on and the beaks...
What will be the center squishy pumpkin block is still in progress....
The original pattern is a horizontal table topper, but mine will be set vertically for
our dining room wall...
This is hanging there now...
The first applique piece I made--it is also a Jan Patek pattern ↓↓↓
So this has been a Sewing Saturday; and now I am resting before the Red Sox/Yankee game
comes on at 4 p.m....
*************************************
I am re-reading Agatha Christie's "Nemisis" and having a cup of tea....
Hoping your day is going well๐
Hugs, Julierose, La blageuse (still doin' that "Turkey Trot"-euse)

TURKEY-LURKEY PARTS
First group of tail feathers.......
2nd group ready to be pointed........
Turkey parts awaiting assembly ;)))
[ Love those Gi-normous feet......]
and a funky pumpkin (L) lol
Aren't those circles super--
I used KK Buckley's plastic circles...
they do work a treat...
Now, to pick out three background squares to set up Mr. and Mrs.
Turkey-Lurky .....and their pumpkin friend.........
then these parts will be hand appliqued
and
those feet will be raw edge appliqued.
[the "funkfied" toes made that decision!! ] ;000
************************************************
It is much cooler here today; gray and cloudy with a stiff breeze....our thinned out
blood is not used to this chilly weather-- and so a little shirt jacket is needed--
I am certainly not complaining--it is soooo refreshing...
I hope to get my Turkey (hope it doesn't turn out to be one -- hahaha)
all ready to applique this weekend...I am really enjoying this process--
and that surprised me a lot...I expected at least some hair pulling!!
I think having all the steps laid out so
well and the right tools made it go easily....
I hope you all are having a good weekend; and best of luck to
those of you in that Dorian cone.....we are thinking of you all...

INCHIE #5 +HAIR : DO'S & DON'TS
Today is a soup day; we like to scatter those in
between
bigger meal days..
Soup de Jour is Minnestrone....
And: these little baby bow ties will be added about one hour
before dinner...
***********************************
In my seemingly never ending quest for an easy "do"
here are two more pix of possibilities...
I like this look
but will my hair do this?
AND: windblown-- same style.............
Layers are new to me--but I see a few in here...
AND (yep more things in my decision making left--)
S I G H..
When we walk, I ALWAYS wear a baseball cap to avoid headaches
from the sun and also to shade my (olde) eyes...so that hat will
undoubtedly crush anything poufy that I may want
like bangs...I've always worn a fringe....
AND.........
Then:
If I really get sick of it all:
CHOP CHOP
a la Judi Dench
Talk about spare....I love the look
but I don't know....๐ฐ๐ง
[this would be a scarey, H U G E
change from shoulder length locks....]
BUT: I wouldn't have to worry about crushing my hair,
as there would be almost none hahaha lol YIKES!! ;0000
*****************************
Well, I've bored you enough with my fence sitting here,
on my hair issues..
(by the way --hubster thanks you for not having to
listen to me --A G A I N!! on this subject)..;))))
******************************
I have finished pinning this: (finally something about
quilting, RIGHT???
And will be all ready to begin hand quilting as soon as I can figure
out how to quilt it....

I LIKE NO 19
(shades of lasagna soup--oh noooo!!)
when it was baking --
I figured it would be a flop...
BUT: it came out all carmelized and just sooo good....
[this from "Smitten Kitchen"]--we are such FOODIES!!!;)))
*******************************************
I am still liking doing my inchies...No 4 is (supposed to be hahaha)
a car going to BJ's shopping...we did our monthly run this morning
before the rains hit us...
And
here is how I will begin to put them together
a la Grandmother's Flower Garden style ↓↓↓
Each week, the first day will be the center and then clockwise
around for the other 6 days...
**********************************
And on my constant quest for a do-able
and easy hairstyle...
↢there's this one
AND....................................↓
This one ↓↓ that caught my ๐ this week
************************************************
I don't know though,,,once my longer hair is cut will it behave????
these are the burning questions....๐
*********************************************
And last, but definitely not least...here are my latest fabric
acquisitions...
I feel that they will be good "mixers" and play well with some prints....
I actually got a polka dotted one...progress...
I am linking up with Lee Anna at Not Afraid of Color blog
for her weekly thankfulness posts...
She is such a wonderful hostess....;))))

TUESDAY 'S INCHIE & TURKEY TROT
Thom and I went for a mid-morning walk on the Boardwalk
We had a lovely breeze on the way out but it died and it was
scorching hot in that full sun on our way back...
BUT...our (trying for) daily walk was D O N E ;)))
[Humming: "Inching along toooo -gether"]
Just before that, I had gone to Big Y
for a few items....
[Of course the real impetus was that our 1/2&1/2
had run out--
AND
Who can have their coffee without that?
Well, not us for sure..]
[I noted that prices are up for sure ;(((]
{No comment!!}
;(((
*********************************
Yesterday I FOUND MRS. TURKEY-LURKEY
Hiding-out inside of THAT GOLD folded fabric...
V O I L A ! ! !
Possible fabrics for dresden feathers...
I Will be using a Jan Patek &
Jenny Doan Applique Pattern
I am hoping to get it traced out onto freezer paper
this afternoon...
Isn't it just so cute??↓↓↓
[See Dawn, I AM going to do it ;)))]
**********************************************
Tonight will be meatloaf, with boiled potatoes, and
yellow & white corn mixture
with a peach cobbler for dessert
(Did I hear someone say
"Gobble Gobble?")
LOL

SUNDAY PREP
SNOWBALLS: All ready for pin basting this week;
and here you thought I wouldn't be making anymore
BIG quilts, right?
Well............never say never...and all that jazz;))
This one just grew like "topsy"; and once I sashed it
-- (I just love that print) --
I knew this would be my big hand quilting project for at least
the rest of this year.
[It is 48x 53 +/- give or take...;)))]
Now to decide how to quilt this one...
The layering did me in----and my back....oof-dah!!
I had some really thin Thermoweb batting
that I had gotten on a Connecting Threads
sale earlier in the year...and decided to try it...
It should be interesting seeing how it
needles and holds up...
***********************************
Today is heating up quickly, but our humidity so far is remaining
@ 60% so not too bad...
We are keeping an eagle eye out on Dorian, not only for us
up here, but for our granddaughter at Clemson...her first year
away from home....
it's fraught enough without any hurricane...๐ธ๐จ
**************
Oh, and here is my super simple very 1st "Inchie"
Perhaps I should add the year? Maybe....
Now, gals, that is supposed to be an apple for
September's harvests....
(uh, use your imagination..this is all free handed
sewing after all ;0000)
************************
I hope you are enjoying your weekend and staying safe and
prepared
