I'm not wearing green but I'm eating greens - does that count? I love the boot. I got a cowgirl outfit one Christmas. I also collected Cowgirl dolls for a while and have them on display in a niche in my living room. I call them the "Buffalo Gals" after the song.
ReplyDeletesweet memories! the best! I still remember my uncle letting me steer the farm tractor for the first time, some 70 years later I treasure that memory.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to receive your very own cowgirl outfit as a young girl, you must have been the envy of your friends.
ReplyDeleteMeant to add that Robin has a little Irish blood in his veins. Not sure about me, but with Scots and English grandparents, there could well be some Irish further back. We had a wonderful trip around Ireland some years, such a delightful place to visit. And as a non beer drinker, I just had to try out some Guiness with our evening meals, just because we were there.
ReplyDeleteI baked a loaf of soda bread and corned beef is in the crockpot. I'll braise cabbage and boil a couple of potatoes. I didn't think I had any Irish but Ancestry revealed that a branch on my mother's side went from Scotland to Northern Ireland and thence to Pennsylvania -- back in the 1700's.
ReplyDeleteHappy St. Patrick's Day, Julierose. And yes, I'm wearing green (and pink!)
ReplyDeleteOh, I had a cowgirl outfit too! Loved wearing it. I like the sound of your Uncle Ralph. Oh, wish oh wish you would make a video of you doing an Irish jig in your cowgirl boots...I would love to see that. =)
ReplyDeleteHappy St. Patrick's Day! I'm wearing green but I'm not Irish at all. My kids and husband are Irish so I'm wearing it for them! Love the cowgirl story!
ReplyDeleteHappy St Paddy's Day! Did you make corned beef and cabbage.
ReplyDeleteI love the cowgirl outfit story! What a fun project. Maybe you'll sneak in a St P block at some point.
Yes, I wore some green yesterday, despite the fact that I don't have any Irish blood that I know of.
ReplyDeleteI would have been like you and worn that cowgirl costume to death (another great story)
I may be Irish.....in my heart lol.i did wear green. Love your boots and cool story. I always wanted a fringed vest and cowboy hat
ReplyDeleteLove the sentiment in the Irish Proverb!! Thanks for posting that for us.
ReplyDeleteLove these pieced blocks you are making. What a sweet memory you shared. I’ve had my dna done and I am almost half Irish. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteAnother great memory! You reminded me of cowgirl boots I had as a child - a gift from my favorite uncle.

ReplyDelete(we were away in the camper so I am just now catching up with my blog reading...please do not feel like you should reply to each of my comments LOL)
Boy, did that bring back memories. Because there were so many westerns on TV when I was growing up, my brother and I got Roy Rogers and Dale Evans outfits. I don't remember much of what they looked like though. I also remember my brother and I both got Davy Crocket hats.
