We are watching the Austrailian Grand Prix
Practice 3 and...
I have begun a small slow stitching project:
I am calling "Spring Rain"
↓↓↓↓
watercolor paints in a little
container of water; ironed them when dry;
then I collaged
them onto a lightweight piece of
batting and tacked them into place.
I have begun working on the hand stitching
while watching F1 (Formula One). ;)))
Although these ARE scraps, they are
totally different from my usual
scrap pieces...in that they are all in
the same light colorway...
palest of Spring greens...
Some are pieces of old pillow cases,
some linen scraps and some muslins...
I am having to pace myself while
hand sewing...a little bit at a time...

Today is a rainy day here with very gray skies;
but our grasses are starting to show green and
my daffodils are starting to poke up with their
bit of greenery...
It has begun to feel like Spring;)))

How fun and creative, perfect for this first rainy April morning. It was so dark and cloudy Baby Mo wanted to stay in his bed until the dogwalker arrived!
ReplyDeleteGale force winds...we will be in the sewing room too, no Formula whatever for us.
Gray skies here too and windy. It's good to have something exciting to watch while you slow stitch. You won't fall asleep while the cars race by!
ReplyDeleteWe actually had sunshine for most of the day today and I noticed a couple people sitting outside by the river. I think it's still a tad too cool for that though. At least we've had the windows open for part of the day. Putzing with a new landscape and regretting the first choice I made, but that's the way I learn.

ReplyDeleteI love the dyed colours in your new project, very Spring like and so good to see a we're now in Autumn! Enlarging on the computer shows the stitched additions beautifully and you must be having such fun with the hand stitching - a little at a time.

ReplyDeleteThat's quite funny. I am only about 100km (60 miles) from that Grand Prix, and I didn't even know it was on. I did see media reports about the winner, which was how I found out it had been on already.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun way to watch a race. I've never thought of using watercolors to dye fabric but found your base fabric combination interesting.
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful green tints you're working with. Since you used watercolors I'm guessing don't intent to wash this piece when it's finished? I always assume, because watercolors are water soluble, they'll run.
ReplyDeleteWe've had such grey skies and rain, too. A day with sun, then two or three with clouds and/or rain. I hope you're feeling better.
