This post is really a status record for me...
of my "Littles" waiting in the wings
for years and years!!
Above is my next quilt top to be
machine bound...all pinned and
ready to go today, hopefully...
And....
Below is what I have left of the small pieces
I've made over the years in
various stages of being finished....
These four all ready to be quilted;
the embroidered one will be
hand quilted as my next project...
the others by machine, minimally...
AND
These SIX need to be backed and layered
and then put into the "to be quilted" pile...
They are pretty much small items that
used a lot of favorite fabrics...
I keep them on hangers on either side
of my stash closet to remind me that
I want to get these done this year!!!!!!!

hor. seams on this Flamingo Ojos...not
my usual densely textured hand quilting..
Now, I need to make binding for it...

I took stock yesterday and this morning
to see what I had and what I wanted
to work on....
I also
[GASP!!--]
threw out the ones I don't
think worth the effort!!
Yes, I couldn't even see cutting them
up for anything else....

Don't judge me too harshly...
My advancing years(??) are determining
what I still can and cannot accomplish

Netherlands Grand Prix Race
and I hope to do the final 3 hand quilted
lines on my Dresden table runner...
Then it can go onto the binding wait list...

Meatloaf topped with chopped onions,
Boiled Russett potatoes
and two ears of
steamed "Butter & Sugar"
corn on the cob...
YUMMY!!

ReplyDeleteGood for you for having what it takes to dispose of some projects you know you'll never finish. I struggle with doing that because I always think that I'll get to them someday. I was quite proud of myself this morning though because I very nearly ordered a pattern for a paper pieced maple leaf and stopped myself before I did because I know there are lots of free versions out there if I ever decide I want to attempt making any. Buying the pattern isn't a guarantee that it won't languish in my files, never to see the light of day. Cute pattern, but I don't need it. Not that same as what you've done, but I'm sure you feel the same.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I've also thrown some things away recently - mostly little bitty scraps. (Who knows why we save these things, lol!) It's good to have a record of what you need and want to get finished, too. I'm eyeing that embroidered piece in your second photo. It looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteYou have a tlot to keep you busy there. Just like me you will never run out of things to do! I think sometimes we just have to get rid of something we don't like and don't want to finish.
ReplyDeleteLove your finishes.... your color choices are wonderful. You could donate the ones you don't want anymore. A local quilt club might even come to pick them up.

I love seeing all your projects. I've thrown out a few projects myself. Don't feel so bad. Sometimes, it's just not worth our time. I've got a ton of ideas but not all of them get actually done. There just isn't enough time! This whole weekend has been gloomy although the sun is finally poking out!
ReplyDeleteI've tossed a few projects over the years as well. It is always hard, but why bother working on something that does not bring you joy? Quite the race today. Sorry about Max and nice to see the finish... although Lewis in 3rd would have been nice to see =). I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the red debrief room today. Enjoy dinner.

ReplyDeleteI hope you get our beautiful weather this week. Today was a 10 on the 1 to t 10 scale.
There is NO GUILT in tossing something you no longer want to finish. Yes, it could be donated or gifted, but that takes more effort and brain cells (and for most of us shipping costs) and sometimes it is better to just let go and move on - so good for you! Taking inventory can be a mixed blessing - sobering but also motivating. Just keep stitching.
ReplyDeleteIt feels good to finally get motivated to "release" some of the projects and pieces we know we won't ever finish. I've been sorting through my fabric stash and donating fabric I know I'll probably never used. Designs and colors bought years ago. I've also found I have multiple pieces of fabric in the same color, but with different designs. From a distant they all look the same color, so I'm getting rid of some and keeping a few. I also need to go through the patterns again.
