3 MORE STEPS

I have added three more Courthouse step blocks to my box;

now there are 77 in all.  

I am aiming for 100 ....

So making some progress, but slowly...

A little angel reminder to be vigilant and

MOVING ON

 

                                             I began this Grief Cloth after Mom died, 

                                                        5 years ago now this past June.

I kept having to put it down and away in its box; for....

every time I picked it up it all rushed back...losing her....

my last parent; my Father died in 1997--way too soon....

I have finally been able to add borders and have decided to work on this now...

The three hearts on the bottom are symbols of 

my Father (L), 

my Mother (R) 

and me in the middle as their only child...

At the top -----

the little heart flying away is me,

 "moving on" with my life without them....

I am going to do embroideries in the white spaces;

some applique patching,

and add final borders 

for a little  picture to be framed.....

A Memory ; 

A Remembrance of our lives together,

and

NOW

 I am finding this to be heart-warming work..

I have begun my 4th butterfly--which will be all in greens...

Its body is a dark green

 (looks black here)

And I have added some french knots

                                                        MY FAVORITE DENIM SHIRT...

Time for  a fix....

                                                                  This is a long tear....

                                       so I trimmed off the hanging threads 

                                                 and added some fray check to all the sides....

                                                        Before  I basted the tear  shut ...

                                            

Next:   

                                   I remembered this lovely fabric strip that Lizzy at

                                                        Gone to the Beach

                                                               sent me

                                                  in her packet of favorite fabric scraps....

                                                       thanks Lizzy so much...I am using them

                                                                in special places ....💕💖

                                               And then ,

                                             I  appliqued it on...

                                                            using my prepared 

                                                                       folded under seam method...

I can just spy my lovely hydrangeas 

gently waving in the cool breeze....

I look over our east railing and spy this

bush covered in wild white roses...

Mother Nature's perfume....

Just not quite the same....

I guess the newer strips I've collected reflect

my latest  fabric choices...

So, 

I will be trying to sprinkle this last batch 

blocks here and there among the others..

I am thinking I need to add more 

dark maroon-ey reds

and deep browns ...

I feel like even though I have plenty 

of Strips to work from

they just "l👀k" different...

And so it goes....

FACE TO FACE

                                          Her face is coming into focus now....💗💗💗

I love how her eye looks...

all smokey and sad,,,

AND

The outlining of her lips looks real....

kind of like a Marilyn Monroe lipstick...

Working on a face involves a lot of closely shaded

drills for the complexion...

I have begun the right hand section 

beneath the eye next....

Today will be a diamond painting day for me.

I couldn't paint yesterday as my eyes had been dilated...

Those little drills moved before my eyes..yikes!!

Here is my box of 65 Courthouse Step blocks...

with the centers I've pre-made waiting...

 I am making these on 8.5" muslin squares

so I won't have to line this quilt,

It is meant to be a lighter weight coverlet.

It is a foggy, hot and humid morning here...

Gray skies with thick cloud cover...

Hoping for afternoon clearing and some 

deck time...

WEDNESDAY'S WORK

 

                        I only made one Courthouse Steps block today; as I  had an eye exam 

                        that was supposed to be at 11:15 this morning..and

                                      I got taken in at 11:55  finally ;0000. 😷😒

[I still find it nerve-wracking to go to appointments...although I must say that my 

doctors  certainly have outdone themselves in preparing their offices--

so that we are safe as we can be...BUT: ...................    

That was a long time to sit in the car...👵😒]

                                              Courthouse Steps:

               I am aiming to make two blocks a day to try to finish these up...

I am not in any particular hurry, though, as I am enjoying the process....;)))

                          Separated into darks, lights, and mediums, and [sort of ]by color families...

Tom made his chili for supper tonight...and --the smell is driving me crazee....

I will top mine with a dollop of sour cream and he will use saltines crumbled on top...

A wonderful meal for this rainy, rainy day...
