RED???

           This solitary red block was going to be the end of this journey--

                    BUT....(isn't there ALWAYS a but???)

Now when I look at this, my eye is immediately drawn to the red;
and I don't know if I like this, 
or if it just stands out too much 
from the rest...

                  DAWN suggested I exchange the red with the top pink....

                                        What do you think?  

          I am not that crazy about the red near the two yellows...

(Is this going to become a "switcheroo" game? ;000) 
Plus it breaks up my pattern -- [S I G H ]

Perhaps I should make a peach block and just use the red on the
back by itself?? Or make the missing yellow and put it in that
slot on the bottom...

I thought this was O V E R?  But Noooooo....

DEEP PURPLE SUNDAY

My first purple block has a maiden peering out...........

Here is the piece so far....

It appears that it will be 50" long if I keep to this pattern of blocks...

and only 30" in width--so some kind of side borders will have to be
found...

Next up is RED----just ONE of those for the middle...good thing as I
am really low on red scraps...will be scrap diving for those...

AND...despite the forecast last night (!!), it is STILL hot and sultry
here...
dewpoint is 74--that is muggy!! 
Temp is 87.5 and 
still climbing...;000

Tonight will be bbq'd steak and salad for dinner ( Thom will add
french fries and I will be abstaining from those heavy carbs...)

In the small garden square off of our back deck....

My hydrangea has forgiven the severe haircut I gave her last Fall
;)))) and appears to be ready to bloom...

She and my bleeding hearts and a few ferns share this semi-shady spot...

She is H U G E 

that white fencing is our deck border---when in bloom she will reach much
higher than that even...Can't wait to see those big blowsey blossoms...

and the ferns appreciate  this shaded spot....

As you can see by the little drops of water we had a light sprinkle 
the other day..

Our glass topped round table on the deck had little spots of water for a while...

Not even 1/4 an inch though..
so I have been hand watering pretty much...

Especially this big girl, that is not blooming yet...
It's been years since she's set
any buds--
so I've forgotten what color they'll be....

My darkest daylily has bloomed--it has many bracts and they are 
loaded with buds...she is the extrovert of them all...sashaying around 
my front
walk...;)))

I hope your Sunday is a restful and quiet one...

THE BLUES

                                    I've finished the blue set of 3 legos blocks.....

Most of my blue scraps were used in making these two quilts 
and two others which went to grandchildren....

AND

so...it was a real scramble to put these

three together....

I had one little girl

and

a blue window...

Next up are purples.....

This looks like the 1st one but in reality it is more of a peach color

than is shown by this photo...

this one is a raspberry color

Hubster is power washing our front paver

walkway and seating area....

Then he will seal it--quite a mammoth job...

BLUE LEGOS, ET AL

Here is my first blue block of three......................

You know, you learn something with each project you make....
isn't that the truth??;)))

I can see that I have very FEW low volume fabrics in my scraps and in my
stash...Most are mid values or darkish or vibrant. Do you find that you always
gravitate to the same tones, or types of fabrics?  I am trying to do a 
stash inventory to actually SEE and KNOW (duh!!) what I have on hand....

I mean pinks are lightish to begin with...
but as I look at this on my wall 👀 👀 👀------

I see VERY FEW fabrics that are widely spaced and have white or off white
backgrounds... and my shelves are groaning with similar tonal fabrics...

[I don't count Black and White-- as they kind of stand out to my eyes]

Is it that I am just drawn to vibrant colors?  I keep saying that I
want to make a low volume piece...with the palest of tints....

I have very few plaids and just one little bundle of polka dots--I've never
used them...they are shoved WAY way back in the precut box....

Do you actively try to make your stash varied?  
this quilting gal wants to know ;)))))

The 3 green/mauve-ish blocks have used up all my precut 3.5" squares...
This morning I die cut a few more solid greens and some more
 pinky triangles..

[Now,ladies,---- "which one is not like the others?    hahaha]

I guess I will be  making TWO pieces (ya think?)....

No way is that beige block going to play well with the first 3...
at least not for me...

The beiges will be set with my pre-cut batik triangles...

They will be "Autumn Snowballs".....

And I am die cutting 1.5" squares from leftovers of these two
projects  for a postage piece in the future...keeping busy....

We are in the AC today--BECAUSE it is so MUGGY!! again!!

RAVEN QUEEN DP

Here is the photo of the diamond painting I've been working on....
It's called the "The Raven Queen--I just love this image....

this is what I've accomplished so far:

Just about 1/3rd done...since it uses square drills, it is slower to set them
perfect for a calming craft...

I also see that I have some buds on two others--I've forgotten what
color they are...so I am looking forward to seeing them bloom:

                                    I wonder if these will be yellow?

                       they are planted among my long row of ferns....

We will be needing more rain for them to emerge, I think
