                   I am getting a backing together for this one...
                         finally...

           So far,
                     these are the fabrics I will be using...
                                bicycles, cupcakes, kitties...
                                      and one other fabric to be chosen...
                                        measuring as I go....

I made Chinese Chicken Hoisin for  our dinner tonight...over rice...
really yummy...a long time ago I had ordered a real Chinese Wok
from Chinatown in San Francisco...it is amazing to cook in...

I like these "inchies" from Raspberry Rabbit's site...aren't they just the neatest thing?  She has been doing these for a year --one a day-- called "Within an Inch of my Life"...I sent for some precut little woolen hexies and plan to start on this one...just a wonderful little everyday embroidery project...
I originally saw them on "Quilting is Blissful"'s blog....

I am feeling so fortunate to be able to read all the grateful
postings that  Lee Anna's blog : Not Afraid of Color.....hosts...

It feels like Fall is in the air here...rainy days and cooler temps for this
past week--BUT:
humidity is rearing it's ugly head once more...

I still have scraps and cutoffs , solids, pre-cuts,
batting cutoffs and Holiday boxes 
(top shelf) to go through; 
but the larger pieces are all done...

                           Aurowla is coming together...I am working
                              this time from left to right across the
                                  canvas as the sides are almost all
                                       dark...

FABRIC FOLD-A-THON

I folded my entire collection of: Blues (R) and Aquas (L)--not that many, huh?

They were in a bin and I thought I had tons...who knew?? I am
also finding that they are almost ALL dense prints..and on the dark side...

This below↡↡↡ is why I am doing the re-folding:

I cannot find anything-- anytime-- anyway-- anyhow!! 
YIKES and I don't really know what I have on hand...

SO.......................
I am taking on Julie's  (click) method....

I am re-folding them over a 6 x 24" ruler so that they
fit my shelving unit... 
(at least anything that isn't a scrap)

Today I am tackling yellows and oranges...

Enough with the stuffing of fabric into bins...
I need to SEE what I have and what I need!

Already I can see that I buy the exact same types of fabrics all
the time...                   **S I G H **

THEN, of course I have to decide what color grouping each
fabric belongs in...

which is much more difficult than it sounds............
especially since all my prints are practically all multi-colored...

I have tried to really go with the backgrounds 
as the color family to put them in....
We'll see how that works...

So, no more sewing (as I have boxes, bins & baskets scattered on
every surface in my sewing space...) until the re-fold-a-thon
has been finished...

After the entire shebang is done I will make a list of what I need to 
enhance my collection...

I have a ton of "Novelty" prints and I am thinking--
will they  need a stack of their own? 

And should ALL batiks go into a separate pile and/or 
 then by color?

these are the day's burning questions.....;000

[This doesn't even include those chunky, uneven leftovers -- but

one thing at a time...foldable pieces for now...]

Any suggestions?  Out there?  Anyone??

CUTTING EDGE et al

I have spent 1 hour + cutting this morning --
before the fibers got to me ! I did take an allergy pill, too.. but those ripped
lengths I used before the accurate die cutting got to me..

              Above are the strips using the solids I have on hand...

   AND using some of the remainders, I cut these↓↓↓                                          

I love my little 1 and 1/2" Accuquilt die.; 
it cuts a block of 9 squares with one pass...
there is no way I could do all these using my rotary cutter 
OR, for that matter, my scissors--at least not in what's left of my
lifetime hahaha...

AND
Here are the 3" squares also I die cut --all in the semi low volume range:

            I will most likely need some more, but this is
                   enough to get started on my
                               semi-low volume piece...
                                    my next project ,,,, 
                                                     some batiks
                                                             and some not:)))

This idea is still kind of percolating..
no pattern-- just some pix I saw 
on blogs and the internet and my new book 
"Unconventional and Unexpected" (or is it the other way around? 
anyway THAT one...)

I won't be able to judge what colors for those strips and squares until
I start putting this together...

BUT (isn't there always a but??)

I need to sew these into blocks first: I am done using up all but two little
leftover batik triangles--phew--pretty good, I think ;)))💖💖 
Eight-One little snowballs..
And, I loved making them, every one...

I am still pondering how to set them....
keep them as is 
or play that switch and shuffle game?? 

They are pinned up there just as I finished them at the
moment........

And this poor pineapple is languishing,,,,,,,,,,,kept warm by the
legos on one side and the snowballs on t'other...

                Until I decide on some kind of border or borders or 
                     even use it as a center in a a bigger medallion piece? 
A la Gwen Marston....hmmmmm

It looks all squished-in there doesn't it?  Poor baby.....;000 lol

And that plus the 3 finished legos rows comprise my design wall
this rainy Friday...

I have some thinking to do and some playing....

This little box my daughter gifted to me...I always put small candies in it 
as a little treat  for the grandgirls when they are coming to visit...;)))

I like how my Cathedral window piece echoes the greens of my 
Sea Glass collection...a lot of these pieces were collected by my Mom
on her annual trip to Florida in the Winters...

I really like Beth's "take on this quilt....She posted this on her
latest "Monday Making" post...
I find it very charming and I am such
a lover of squares and rectangles 
that I may give this a try myself...

Here are my prolific hydrangeas reaching up through our deck balustrades...
Our deck is 7 steps above ground, so they are really high.  I had cut this
baby almost to the ground last Fall and it just shot right back up...
the only drawback is that it attracts too many bees!

Every year I say I am going to make Mr. Turkey-Lurky--as
I think he is just adorable...
but....
 it hasn't happened as yet and T-Day is fast approaching.....;000

Lastly, 
I like that I am on my final legos row working on the middle
VERY RED block...just 2 purple ones after this....my nighttime 
tv-watching handwork...I will have to fetch another project and ready it
for handwork...
