SUNDAY SEWING, ET AL

Jelly Roll Jazz--the 2nd quilt from the
blue batik jelly roll is all
quilted--finally!!!!
and
I've made the binding for it
this morning the same as for
Jelly Roll Jive...I had some left
over and just added to it...I am
hoping to get it sewn on tomorrow...
:)))
********************************
Spring is showing its colors around
here now....↧↧↧↧

Daffodils on my front walk border bloomed
this weekend....so cheery and pretty...

More by the big rock in the front of our house....

And here are tulips I treated myself with on our
front step...
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

I decided to sew all the little crumb blocks
together for the start of a
Medallion Style piece....

I just love these little Franken-quilt
pieces to use up my really
little strips and fabric orts...
:)))))

So, now I am pondering what
color first "stop"  border
I should use....I am
thinking that since
this is so "busy"
perhaps a solid
or mottled fabric
would be best...
*********************
Did you watch this???
   AMAZING!!!
Last Friday we were watched the
whole splash down of Artemis II
--totally entranced with it all.
Even eating our dinner
in front of the tv!!

What an amazing feat!!!
NASA has outdone itself
What an exciting
and hopeful
achievement...

I hope your Sunday is full of
happy things...

HILLSIDE HEART PROMPT #13

Our prompts for this week No. 13
are:
1} "I will carry your tears for you" ;
and
2} Glitter Bomb.

This really made me think
long and hard....
 --how could I
represent this lovely thought????

The images I came across
in my stash of these newly wed couples
and what I imagined to be an elderly
couple married many years
seemed to me to be perfect
examples illustrating
this beautiful and moving sentiment...

Can you see the glitter--it certainly is
a "bomb" on this small page...;)))
A simple page but meaningful...
💕💞👫
I do enjoy "Caroline on the hillside's
on YT's  weekly
prompts  for our Junk Journals
this year...one
double prompt per week...

A lovely way to spend my
Easter Sunday afternoon..

Hugs, to you all,

SCRAPPY SATURDAY WALL

This week I've been working on my tiniest red scraps;
these may become some bright table mats....
It is surprising how long it takes to make one block...
I do so enjoy working on these--so relaxing;))))

My little cross squares, as you can see, are still
languishing there waiting for me to add some
more--these are made with 1.5" squares...
one at a time--- no strips...
{plus they need some good ironing...}

********************
I want to wish all of you who celebrate

EASTER
a
Wonderful Holiday
full of chocolate bunnies
🐇🐇🐇🐇
;))))))

MARCH FINISH, et al

"Jelly Roll Jive"
is
finished;)))))

And...
here is the back view...
↯↯↯↯

I am so happy that I got to use all
of this lovely fabric in one piece.

And so, my first step on this
Jelly Roll Journey that
I have undertaken this year
 is done...
:)))))

I do have the other Jelly Roll flimsy to
put together; but I am, for right now,
going to open "Sherbet Pips"
and get the colors sorted to my liking...
↧↧↧↧

I will be back when I have sorted and
prepped this one...
Fun work!!😊

ON A ROLL, et al

Jelly Roll Jive is all quilted--
I like how the straight line quilting came out...

AND

All trimmed  up and ready to be bound...
;))))

****************************
Next in line is this Jelly Roll
It will be interesting to see how an
all-print jelly roll looks in this pattern...

I need to find another fabric to insert as
a panel...so when i open this up
tomorrow i will be looking through the
Stash to see what I have on hand...

I used my lint catcher roller on both sides
to try to get rid of those pesky "bits"
when you open a roll...and hoping
that it got rid of most of that
"fluff" that gets all over...
👍💃

*************************
I do still have the 2nd quilt from the all blues
jelly roll ready to be backed and pinned,
but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I thought I would take a rest from all
those blues...and move onto the
"Pips" roll....such cute fabrics in
this one...I am thinking it will be a
totally different vibe...

*************************
A gray and misty day here, temps in
the 40's; we are expecting
a cold front to come over us
overnight and plunge us back into
the 30's for a bit...

MONDAY QUILTING, et al

I've begun quilting my Jelly Roll Jive (JRJ)
this morning using my walking foot...

I have finished about 1/4 of the way across
which is 8 long straight lines of quilting...

Here is how it looks on the back:
[Pretty straight..]
😇😉😊

I've rolled up the sides for tomorrow's
stint; I am keeping it to short amounts
of quilting to hopefully keep from
hurting my shoulders...

Here is JRJ all rolled and ready for tomorrow
I place the rolled quilt over my shoulder
and feed it in-- lifting it off my shoulder
bit by bit...
and I am using my special
rubber tipped gloves.

    SO FAR SO GOOD...
COVID HAS LEFT THE BUILDING
FINALLY!!
👌👋👏👯

"BEGORRA". et al

Happy St. Patrick's Day

******************************
IT'S A FLIMSY:)))

I just got this together this morning;)))
It is a bit smaller [40" x 40" +/-]
than the first one...

I have enough of the KF fabric
to center on the back...
I will be looking for a fabric
to border that piece to bring it
up to size...

FYI: Still waiting for the garage
guys to appear...

STRANDED, et al

Why is she showing us a picture of her
garage you are asking????😵

Well..............

you see, yesterday  at 4 p.m. Tom went
to close our garage door and heard a huge
KA-BLAMMMMMM sound
AND....
If you look up at the tippy-top--
you can see that the spring that pulls the
door open and closed is broken!!

Both cars are inside, so we were virtually
STRANDED ..until someone could come
to fix it for us as you cannot even
lift the door by hand as it goes all
wonky from side to side--
PLUS
it's just too darn heavy being a
double garage door!!!!

S  I  G  H  ..
Isn't it always something???

After a long search Tom (my hero 💖💋)
was able to find a local emergency
garage door repair company.

They are slated to come between
8-10 this morning...
We have fingers crossed that he can
fix it for us as Tom has two MD
appts this Tues and Wed...

*********************
Tom celebrated his 87th birthday
on Friday (yes, the 13th!!).
Our daughter, Candice, drove down
after work to celebrate with us.
We toasted Tom with some Prosecco
and cheesecake.
He got a lovely light summer Henley
from Candice in his favorite blue color
and these gifts from our son, Jeff,
 came via Amazon:
At first we couldn't figure out what the baskets
were= duh-- in our 80's you know....👥

they are:
Nice veggie grilling baskets --Tom's comment
was "well, now i'll have to eat my veggies..."
Jeff's answer "..along with beef chunks
and of course a cold beer"
HAHAHA
Guy humor for sure!! 😁😂😄

The little box holds an all-purpose tool
that looks like a pen but holds
several different functions,
including a little level,
 a Phillips screwdriver
 and reg head one,
 and some other "guy" stuff.
Our son is a gadget guru...
😍😎

****************************
On my "Jelly Roll Jive" front
I managed to get 1/2 of it pin basted
↴↴↴↴
and
I have begun the 2nd quilt from this
one same batik blue shades  roll:

It will look slightly different as I have
incorporated a Kaffee Fassett panel
along with my mint green batik
roses blocks.
I'm loving how they add the element of
scrappiness to my piece.

I have six out of 10 rows sewn...but
not together;  just pinned in place...
in groups of two rows....

I hope to finish the last 3 rows this
morning
{while awaiting the repairman--fingers
crossed that he can fix it!!}

****************************
Added: later on:
and this is what
is left over from the one jelly roll

Not too shabby, right???
thanks again ROSE
for a great pattern...;)))

ALL LAYERED UP, et al

"Jelly Roll Jive" is all layered up and
ready for pin basting...
YAHOO!!!!
This morning I sewed the the two
lengthening pieces to the top and
bottom and then
I ironed the
whole backing...

I had rolled up the quilt
and batting portion and marked
the center points on the
edges of the batting
in pencil lines...for ease of
matching when I rolled it on top
of the backing...
So far, so good, there is
just enough overhang...
👏👌💙

I store my basting safety pins in my
Grand-mere's old light blue Ball
canning jar...to open
and close those pins...

And in a nutshell, that is my day's
sewing/quilting work done...

*********************************
PAPER STUFF:

This afternoon I plan on making
signatures for my new
"Junque-O-Rama Journal"--
Which will feature mostly food
labels, packaging, and junk mail.

I plan for this one
to  be the absolute
 junque-iest one
I've attempted yet...

What smashing fun
😄😅😆😉!!

These days we are living through
with all the constant
distressing news,
I want to find some happy time
and a happy place to find hope....

Here is the cover which I made
Yesterday from a "Toasted" cracker box...
Perfect for a "foodie" journal, right?
😀😁😂😃😄
Front featuring Eggplants
and
back with Figs
indicating it will be mostly
food themed...

And....
the inside sports pretty flower images
↧↧↧↧

I've started collecting all kinds of "trash"
that I want to recycle
into this new journal...

Three boxes of all the usual "suspects"
that you get in the mail and
 containers from shopping
that you would normally
throw into recycle.
[N.B.
My DH thinks
I've really
lost my mind
hahahahaha
👫👯]

But a girl just wants to
 have
💃 F U N💃

I hope you all can find relaxation
and calming times with your
crafts and creating...

JELLY ROLL JIVE FLIMSY, et al

I have my JRJ quilt laid out on my
blocking board on my dining table;
it measures 42" wide and 48" long...

Here is the backing piece I am going to use:
I have been "hoarding" this Kaffee Fassett
Collection piece
and waiting to find a spot for it..

Here is the fabric I plan to use on the top
and the bottom to bring it to length..

I also have had this in my stash for
quite a while...and
I love how it pops against the KF fabric...
😊😍
Across the two ends ↑↑↑↑

Tomorrow I plan to sew this backing
together and
then scout my batting stash to see
if I have a piece big enough to use.
[If the stars align] ;))))

Hopefully so...as I want to get this
layered up and begin the basting...

That is where my project is at right now...

JELLY ROLL JIVE (JRJ) PROGRESS, et al

I have the first 6 rows of JRJ sewn together....

I know it doesn't seem like a lot, but I have
been a bit under the weather and still have
some lingering symptoms and that awful
"brain fog"!! Making operating any
machinery a bit of a challenge...
👿😕

I do like how it is looking a lot!! ;))

ROSE'S  jelly roll tutorial is
really wonderful and easy to follow;
(click to go to her blog)
and
look 👀
what I received in the mail
today from her:
Her own leftovers from her
Aneela Hoey jelly roll quilt for
me to use with my AH jelly roll;
all precut into squares and
binding strips...
and
two cute little Stilettos;)))

Thank you so much Rose;
what a generous gift;))))
I can't wait to start this one...
💃💃💃

***********************
And on the Paper Crafting scene:

I am coming to the end of my
Pita Box Junque Journal  Vol. 2
and
so I decided to make myself
a Vol. 3 from another saved
TJ's Pita Cracker Box:

Here it is opened up...

[it has 3 signatures this time,
as I found in Vol 2,
which had four signatures,
it just  got too "chunky"
to work comfortably in....]

Very "La Vie En Rose" vibes to this one...

Front Cover featuring an old piece of
piano sheet music background
entitled
"Love here in the Starlight hour..."
👄💏💋
and the back cover with more of the
music:
You have to love those old,
sentimental lyrics of that era...

I thought the roses fitted in very well
with my theme....

So, it will be waiting for me when
I've used up Volume 2....
💓🌹🌹🌹💘

A N D ...

What's in the Wok??????
FOR......our
Saturday Night's Dinner:
I am making my Chinese Flank Steak Stir Fry;
with peppers, onions, and water chestnuts ;
which will be served over steamed rice...

I have prepared all the ingredients ahead
of time so it's just a matter of doing
my stir fry cooking in the wok.....

I hope you having a great weekend....
