SATURDAY SURPRISES

Look at what lovely DAWN sent me when I posted that my maroon fabrics were
getting low for my Ojos..isn't that great?
She is really a doll...
don't you just
love using someone else's stash finds?
Somehow it's more fun!! ;)))

๐Ÿ’Thank you so much Dawn ๐Ÿ’–

*********************************************************************
AND  JULIEK, (click on our chicadee)
our sweet Log Cabin Loonies Leader par excellance ;)) told me
I was the winner this week !! (YAY)

(Hop on over to see the lovely petite Log Cabins everyone is making...what fun!!).
SOoooo,
Look what I got.............

This beautiful packet of Fat Quarters in an Autumnal mood...

                                                   Aren't they beautiful?
Twelve
gorgeous
 fabrics ;))))))))))))))๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’

Thank you so much JulieK --these are so inspiring...that........
I will be continuing on my log cabin journey with
them..
using the gold print for the center--I think --perhaps a Courthouse Steps
setting...
***********************************************
And hoping to finish my ISF and ISR log cabin loonies this weekend...and decide on
the setting...and what to use them for...

FUDGE FACTOR, YOU SAY

My Maverick Star went a bit too "maverick " here.....
off the rails , so to speak...;0000

How much of a "fudge factor" do you allow???? Discerning quilters
want to know ๐Ÿ‘ฏ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿ˜‡
("Hello, is this the sewing police??" lol).

And so...(SIGH):
I took her apart and redid her...
Now I absolutely HATE un-sewing...
but I cannot use my usual Fudge Factor here--it's way too mis-aligned....
AND..................
This is better ;)))  don't you think??
(patting myself on the back here) hahaha

I am moving along
slowly with these stars...doing them in sections....

                   I love choosing the centers from my fussy cut print;
                  and then deciding what color of 2.5" squares for the surround;
and
then making the star points;
and finally sewing rows together --
ironing the seams open to help with bulky crossings.....;}}}}}

I  am beginning to get the hang of working with scissors; and as my squares are
already pre-cut,  it's easy to just use my small Friskars scissors to trim up........

DIAMONDS ARE A GIRL'S BEST FRIEND

HERE IS WHAT I AM DOING WHEN I CANNOT SEW
OR ROTARY CUT.....(I mean a gal has to keep busy, right??)

                                                              DIAMOND PAINTING...
                                                                    MY NEW LOVE....

This is a corner of my sewing area where I can work on my new craft--
which I am thoroughly enjoying....;))))

                     My 1st picture is a lighthouse by the ocean;

hubster LOVES lighthouses and  their history...
so I thought this would be a great first painting...
(The darker areas in this picture are full of diamond pieces...
aka "drills")

The canvas comes full of sticky-ness and you place the drills on each square according to the schematic...on the right...and the beads come packaged
separately and numbered.

I love how the drills (small round pieces in this case) sparkle...

The darker areas have been "painted" with those little sparklers...;)))

This is so relaxing; I bought a light table to help illuminate the
canvas from underneath ...( Oh  Ye of the Ancient Eyes....)

and am so loving this craft....
Here you can see the legend for the beads that are included in the kit....

If you go to YouTube and put in Diamond Painting you can see crafters painting
their canvases...the results are so beautiful...

I have ordered a few more (ya think? ) kits from China at Ali Express...
one is a sunflower, one an owl, and one a landscape...
so they may take a while to get here...
because I want to have some ahead
For:
who knows what will happen with our new
(crazee) tariffs in place...๐Ÿ‘บ
*******************************************************
Tomorrow I hope to make another Maverick Star using scissors...to trim;
at least I have the 2.5" squares all cut; so only the corners need to be trimmed...

We'll see how this goes...I mean, our Grand- and Great-Grand-mere's only used
scissors.  (I hope to "kit up" a lot of things ahead so that cutting will not become
an issue as I keep on quilting...
And aging...aaargh!)
I hope for a long time still......;*)))

********************************************************
Right now we are having H U G E thunder boomers and heavy rains...
we really need the rain...our lawn is like hay and even my prostrate junipers
have turned brown at their edges...!!! I've never seen this happen before...
I think our former 4 Season year is whittling done to TWO
HOT and COLD  ...Hope not, though...
Autumn where oh where are you???

hugs, To you all

AUTUMNAL GOAL

My goal for this Autumnal Season is to try to finish up quilting on my
                                                POMEGRANATES IN THE RAIN

I have two more side triangles and four corners to quilt.....is this do-able given the state of
my arm/shoulder problem???๐Ÿ’ญ

Well, a few lines each day is how I am going to roll with this.

I really love how this is coming out and want to see it finished.

Wish me luck...๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

ISF and ISR

Linking up  with JulieK and the Log Cabin Loonies gals...
Go and see the lovely Log cabins in progress....this is such a fun Sew Along...
(and here I never thought i could make such small cabins!!)
(I actually have 21 made --dropped 3 on the floor--but gasp--thankfully I found them)

Next up another will be light round...I will be using a "sky" fabric on all of these....
hoping to get that done today...

I will be cutting with scissors as Rotary work has really been bothering me lately.
Hopefully, I can maintain the good edges....

I've been thinking about how i want to put these together...so many options....so far,
all whites together appeals to me...
*******************************************************************
As I referred to above, I will have to be switching over to scissor work; my arms and shoulders
just get SO SORE when i rotary cut...and I do have a new blade--guess I should be doing some
strengthening exercises,,,;000.

hugs from SE CT on another hot, humid day...will it never end talk about "FIRE" but no
RAIN..lol

SEEING STARS

Here is my collection of Maverick Stars....so far--

I've decided to use up my 2.5" squares from my 3-years-ago (!!) swap...
at  "The Curious Quilter" 's blog...............
(she no longer is doing this world wide swap...;((( )

I have a lot of Autumnal golds so every other row will have gold squares until they run out...
After I put together each one, I set up the next and decide on star points fabric...most of the points are 2.5" metallic squares cut diagonally in half...
(see tree, blue door, and wheat sheaves blocks above)
so...because the triangles are so small they become  far away stars--with little
twinkling points....
"...far away over the stellar sea..."..
AND...the centers are all cut from a scenic country cotton....that I have fussy cut...

I (as you who have followed me know) don't do triangles...so this is such fun for me to just
use the folded corners method.  This will be another long term ongoing project for
fun sewing...
***********************************************************
along with my Ojos Di Dios strip blocks...

On these Ojos, I am running out of deep maroon scraps so, I've emptied my pink
leftover strips to move the colors to lighter blocks...we'll see how they look...I'll make a couple to try them out...today I was able to take 15 minutes and cut more 6" bases
for these--but decided no more cutting for another while...to let my shoulders rest
up really well....
hugs for a wonderful upcoming weekend with cooler temps (YAY)

STASH DEPLETION

Here is where my Log Cabin Loonies  project stands so far...

Next round for JulieK's project will be darks...I hope to add these this week...
Drop in for a visit to see everyone's lovely interpretation ....

[Our AC is acting up (oh no--in a heat wave, of course!!) --it works for a while and then doesn't
come on...maybe it's tired? I wouldn't be surprised as I think it has been on continuously all Summer
long..so a "HELP" call will be going in to our guy....]

................................anyway, there are 20 of these little gems in progress..

this little block looks like a snowstorm to me....
******************************************************
.I am hoping that this WIP and this one below:

will begin to deplete my stash of blue and dark red/maroon strips...
But it seems the more I use, the more show up overnight.  ;000
*******************************************************

AND THEN...there's this kerfoffle to work on:

Fabric fabric everywhere, and how my shelves did shrink...lol
  {to misquote The Rime of the Ancient Mariner into the Rime of the Ancient Sewist....}

What a total mess...at one time all fabrics were folded neatly and arranged by hot and cold
colors...not so much anymore, ya think?

If my "Ancient" limbs will allow I need to get down in there and re-sort and re-
arrange...so far, I look at it, and then close the doors...(bad girl).

Stay cool,
Hugs from
