Orange star
Flying Oranges
Ojos Oranjas
These three Orange minis make a total of 5 finishes----so far ;
They are all layered up and ready to be hand quilted...
***********************************************
Right now I am working on "H-Improv":
Mostly in the evenings while watching tv....
I've been working on these for the RSC linky party this month.....
And, I have whittled down my oranges considerably...

DAWN'S SAL
My First Blockheads [Book One]
Block-- No. 02
[6"]
and look👀👀👀↧↧↧↧↧↧↧--just for laughs;)))
I first had it sewn together like this↡↡↡↡:
A "Flying" Ohio Star..ahahahaha
So I played leapfrog--
and de-stitched....and re-sewed.....
It is still not perfect, but it's done....
Dawn at Relaxing Robin had suggested, last Wednesday,
that we grab a quilting book, any one we'd like,
and choose "No 24-- 2 or 4" any block with those numbers
involved-- she's very flexible ;))))--- so no stressing out--
and make a block in a week for her SAL....
Since I am TRYing to learn how to improve my piecing...I chose
the Moda Blockheads Book for my SAL book--
it has been languishing on my bookshelf for quite a while now...
("Who's Afraid of the big bad BOOK?")
I have been practicing making hourglasses for "RSC February"
This little 4.5" one came out better....
Go and visit Dawn and see what block she chose and how she did....
hugs, Julierose La blageuse (I was never good at geometry-euse)

ORANGE SLICES
This little star block is 4.5" -- and
I wanted to use that pretty gift fabric from
DAWN who is having a little SAL on her site...
go visit to see what it's all about....
You will see bits and scraps of that fabric throughout.....
;)))
thanks Dawn...
***********************************************************
Hourglass minis......plus the start
of a long coping strip of squares
and some squares within squares...
********************************************
OJOS Oranja
These incorporate the failed string tulip--I tried to make
I just cut 'er up and used the strings on these Ojos...
Sooo, I used scraps of scraps hahaha..
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
Some Crumb blocks.....
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
A few bigger
blocks.......perhaps
for a center???
&&&&&&&&&&
↡↡↡↡
And larger squares within a squares......
And (phew) if you read this far--Congrats!!;)))
Here is my wall right now.....(sorry for the darkish photo--no sun AGAIN!!)
a total hodge-podge of blocks....
*******************************************
I have a few more crumb blocks started and a few more minis....
but for the most part
the scraps are diminishing rapidly....YES!!!
It is truly amazing how many
orange scraps I had on hand...
I had no idea....
The only other time
I used orange was in Steven's quilt...
which was a spider web orange...that I made 4 years ago--
this bag of scraps
hasn't been touched since then.
*****************************************************************
I have begun quilting my "H"Improv in the evenings while tv watching.
And my big "Orange Circle-ish" is ready to be quilted as a separate piece...
↟↟↟↟↟↟
A little tabletopper using up the rest of Dawn's fabric gift,
I will be linking up with Angela at Superscrappy along with all the other
February "oranger sewists" for Rainbow Scrap Challenge...[RSC] .
***********************************************************
Tomorrow we are having company so I am writing this Friday; we are experiencing
really heavy winds and hoping the power doesn't go off!!;0000
I hope your weekend will be a wonderful one....

"H"-IMPROV
A little "H"-Improv piece...as part of my
RSC Feb. Oranges' sewing...
I am leaving this one as is and calling this a
"mini" and done...;)))
I used up EVERY bit of that orange cross-hatched fabric from
my grandson Steven's going away to college quilt; every smidgen that
was big enough to hold a seam...hence the improv curved pieces...
&&&&&&&&&&&And &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
Those centers are tiny cut-offs that could just about hold an
1/8th inch seam allowance......;000
I am very proud of Helga that she is not "eating" all these tiny pieces...
she is
a good stitcher...;)
hugs, Julierose, La Blageuse
(My sewing is shrinking like "Alice in Wonderland"-euse)

TEMPUS FUGIT (RSC for orange feb)
"Time does fly" = hourglass blocks
big and teeney little ones...
I guess =maybe...
Hours and Minutes ;)))
[The "minute" ones I free cut diagonally twice from 2 1/2" squares ......]
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
I am using this years' RSC to try out blocks that are new to me and
to try to get a handle on better techniques for myself....I know most
of you have been sewing these for ages, but I haven't--being triangle
challenged..;000
In January I made a few of these hour glasses (bigger sized)
and kept on turning them so that I ended up sewing them
the wrong way round!!!
Frustrating....
So, for February I decided that I would work on a system so that I would
be able to orient them correctly...and it works for me...YAY I feel
confident now making them from all this practicing...;)))
And here are some of my crumb blocks using tiny
cut offs :
↡↡↡
Come and Visit with Angela at Super Scrappy to see what all we
scrappy quilters are up to.............
I got a [little] head start this month ;)))
Hope you are having a fun time sewing this Saturday...
