WONDERFUL HAPPY MAIL

Just look at this lovely trivet that came in the mail for me
                                                         yesterday...
Dawn at relaxing robin made this for me....

Isn't that just the sweetest thing? :))))

[She knew that my career was in piano teaching
and she took that info and put it into
                                 this adorable piece for me...]

Thank you Dawn, so much....a real pick-me-up in these
days of isolation we are experiencing.

Small acts of kindness are just so wonderful.....

SEASIDE SPRING progress

Seaside Spring has turned into a large project....

Here's a closer look at

↚↚↚

the Centers..

Jelly fish floating (2 of these)

and.........

                                                       ↡↡↡↡↡↡
                                                    A  Blue Bird flying  in with H O P E

This could turn out to be the center panel of a lap quilt..
a long,  and narrow medallion setting..

I machine appliqued those centers to the blades,
trimmed the back extra fabrics off close to the stitching ....
and then....................
I appliqued the rings themselves to my chosen
impressionistic roses fabric...
very water-ey looking, I am thinking...

This was my sewing for yesterday and today....
*************************************
Thom is ourside changing the oil on his John Deere Lawn Mower...
on this warmish day...58 degrees already ....
perhaps our weather is taking a turn for the better...

And I am thawing out leftover lasagna for our dinner this evening...

Stay safe and strong,
this, too, shall pass....

"SPRING IS HERE...

I just love my daffodils...so cheerful......
πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›
A few little iris pushing their green swords up.....πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

And
one of our Azalea bushes is budded out↡↡↡↡
Now, if the deer don't eat the buds, we'll have flowers soon..

"Spring is here.........why doesn't my heart go dancing?..."

*******************************
The past few days, I have been on edge and unable to sew that
much; so, I am trying to re-organize a bit,
here and there; cooking, cleaning etc., just staying busy.....
and trying to find fabric for the centers of my
"Seaside Spring" rings...
                   ↶↶↶

Something that

speaks  of

the Ocean...and the

blue-blue-chilly waters..

The winds are still brisk here and so despite the lovely sunshine,
it is a bit too cool to sit outside just yet...

********************************
Our first Instacart delivery of groceries is slated for anywhere from
4-6 p.m. tonight...
So,
we had our big meal at noon--[leftover roast beef dinner from last
night...still really good...]
knowing we would have to  de-virus the
delivery when it arrives..

APRIL RSC, from afar...

Here is my first week's sewing for the April's Light blues

The three semi-circular rings have free-scissor-cut blades
                          Of varying widths..
                                                                ⇓
I am calling these "Seaside Spring"
and you can just see the tiny bits of
Ocean printed fabrics in each ring...
and here   ⇓ is.........................↴↴

A sailing ship
"Ahoy Matey";)))

AND:

                                          this  ⇑  little seaside cottage...
I haven't, as yet, figured out what i will use for the centers...
but it is a start anyway....
*****************************************
and ↡↡↡
the two little "H" blocks  (TOP R) may be the start of a family quilt...
that I have been thinking about....
**********************************
Then------those  hourglasses use the fabric that I dyed
in the 1980's that has been
                           hanging around for eons!!
*****************************************
I will be knocking at superscrappy's door --[masked and gloved] to visit
all the other RSC-ers this week...to exchange posts on what we've
made so far...come and join us (6' apart, of course)...

Please stay safe and be vigilant😷😷😷

FRIDAY'S BRAIN FOG, et al

↻↻↺↺↻↻ My brain during corona virus...↺↺↺↻↻↻
                                        No kidding either!!

It has been raining all night and extremely windy here...
that constant wind sound has me on edge....

So..................

After having finished Kimmi's hand quilting this week,
Today I began working on↦↦↦↦↦↡↡↡
my February Orange Ojos Improv piece....
                                                  ↶↶↶↶↷↷↷
                                      On my lap right now....
                                                    ;)))

I am using this lovely Valdani thread, a light peach-ey color
and doing my usual big stitching...

Winds around 30 mph hoping we don't lose power...
as I am simmering my homemade bean soup for tonight's dinner...
and I also baked homemade croutons from our leftover bread crusts
to go with it...

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&     and
This morning I practiced flute;
and
then went into the Inner Sanctum
hahaha to do a bit of sewing...
and
I made 3 more Courthouse Steps
(CS ) blocks...cutting strips as I went along...

[Enough for one day with laundry and regular chores...]
************************************
πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’ heartfelt thanks to you all for commenting on
my RSC travails....so appreciate all your thoughts...

I hope you are staying safe and being ever vigilant...

MARU-GATA KIMMI, et al

I finished the hand quilting on Maru-Gata Kimmi this morning...

She is preparing for her Japanese Tea Ceremony (back)

I just love these tea urns and tea pots.....↕↕↕↕↕

This fabric seemed so perfect for the backing...

***************************************
It is SUPER windy here this morning --
I am not a big fan of that constant sound...
So far, the highest gust up here at
The House on the Hill
was 22 mph...
Steady at 10-15 though...
***********************************
Here ↡↡↡↡ is my
light blue box for RSC April

Along with some long paper strips from an old phone book..

I wonder what will emerge from these this month?

*********************************

And here are my first three 9" blocks for the KING SIZED
Courthouse Steps bed quilt--

[Sorry for the darkish pix--very gray and cloudy here today...]
Truth be told
I began just sewing them willy-nilly together and they all
came out differing sizes (DUH!!)

So I have begun finishing those off onto the 9"
muslin squares adding strips
as needed...
a true Improv

I am finding it hard to find old-fashioned or
vintage looking florals and tone on tone
fabrics for this project...but,
I think some tone on tone batiks look okay though...
{See the last white-ish strips above}

Anyway--fun figuring out for sure...

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
And
Hoping you are staying safe (at home) and strong

PLAT DU JOUR, ET AL

My brain during the time of c-virus
                                      [Hahahaha --seriously though...]

***************************************************
Tonight will be the "Special Shepherd's Pie" entree--
Preceded by a much needed cocktail hour with munchies--
and followed by strawberries with whipped cream...
Diet??? NOT!!!!

********************************************
My mailman brought me these today ↴↴↴↴
A few weeks before this coronacation hit us, I saw a deal
[such a deal!!] for 21 "crossword only" books for $10.99 total
(well, plus minimal shipping, but really, how can you beat that? )
B A M !!!

You seeπŸ‘€πŸ‘€πŸ‘€πŸ‘€ .......↡↡↡↡↡↡
I am an avid crossword fan ==and they never seem to have
"crosswords only" volumes
at my local stores&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
(and anyway, now  I can't go there until this is over)
so, I figure this should last me a while ya think????
;)))..

******************************
In other stirring news: ;@)))

I signed up for "Instacart"; our new directive
states that if you are over 60 you shouldn't go to
the store....
This was a bit muddling onsite for me at first {not being
all that computer literate and all}
but I figured it out   (needs must right?)..

So, we will receive our first delivery this
coming Monday late afternoon...and
that should last us for at least 2 weeks +--just
foodstuffs this time --although they do have a
paper section--that's for next time...
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Thom is practicing his Tenor Sax--long tones for his lung-
power , and Improvisation of jazz tunes; πŸ’“πŸ’“πŸ’“πŸ’“
I will be picking up my flute--the last time I
played was about 30 yrs ago ;^000,
I minored in flute in Music College (I was a Piano Major)
so I am practicing every day again..
and it feels right somehow...
once a musician and "all that jazz.." πŸ‘§πŸ’žπŸ’žπŸ’žπŸ’ž
********************
This is where we are at today...so very relieved about
grocery delivery ...

I will be stalking my light blues in my scraps pile this afternoon
and winding more bobbins...
