YESTERDAY, TODAY, and TOMORROW

YESTERDAY:
 dawned beautifully;
got up to the mid 70's
SO
it was warm enough to sit out here
on our back deck shaded under
our awning
(after our field walk )
and have our
coffee...
💘👫
I brought out my little
Vera Bradley pouch
and my current book to
spend my morning with...

I mean you HAVE to enjoy these
days when they dawn, don't you?

Zipped it open to my hand
quilting supplies --
love all those little pockets that
zip shut!!
and
Picked out my thread...for the petals
of my Little Quiltlet"
"August Zinnia"
↧↧↧↧
I finished working the spokes with an
old DMC palest of blues
and then--
began
the fun part...
😄😇

Working on the petals ....

What fun to sit out and stitch...
😍😎
AAAAH--
how relaxing...

**********************************************
TODAY:

We awakened to a much cooler
 56 degrees,
heavy rains,
and fog....

So, I decided to finally look for the
border fabric for my
"Flowering Snowball" piece...

I liked an indigo Japanese style
fabric that I thought would
set off all those little squares..
And I also found
(surprise, surprise)
that it had turned out MUCH
larger than I thought
(28 by 42)!
😩😨😧

Here it lies, laid out on my
dining table awaiting
layering and pinning...

A closer look at that indigo border
fabric with birds over ocean waves...
Isn't that a pretty fabric to set it off?
I am happy that i had enough to
go all around...I cut 2" strips and
have perhaps 8" left...
This quilt will rest for a bit while my
back recovers from standing
to cut and sewing...

**********************
TOMORROW:
We have workers coming
to change our internet provider--
they were scheduled to come
today, but the stormy weather
delayed them...💧🌂🌁⛈
***
And I will do our weekly shopping;
now knowing that my daughter will
be coming down for Mother's Day
and my Birthday;))))

Oh--- and here is a pix of the backing on
my "Scrappy Snowballs" piece
which is all pinned and
ready to be quilted...
I really love this paisley fabric...
I think it looks so vintage ;)))

FLOWERING SNOWBALLS PROGRESS

I have the main body of my "Flowering Snowballs" sewn together...

I just love the scattered bouquets strewn among the
snowball centers...
💗💝💜

Left to do is:
to add on the sides,
and top and bottom
borders which
 will also be
all squares...

Then the final border fabric
which is always
the most difficult to
find for me....

Here are my
"Go Baby!"
die cut squares I have
precut:

I did have them all sorted by color, but
as I worked on the longer vertical strips
[18 squares in each vertical strip]
they got a bit messy!!:))))

I have found working with die cut squares
makes the job a lot easier--no weird
cuts to deal with!!

After joining the two rows of
three blocks each together--
(One block = 4 snowballs
sewn together with squares
-so
you can see that each row has
3 complete blocks )
I am taking a break...
😊😌😍
All this matching up went pretty well;
not all the seam joins are perfect,
but I am ok with that...

BRAMBLE BLOOM 1 FINALE

Well..........I am calling this one
done...
[except for stitching those
little circles on the brown border...]
😟

I was up at 5 a.m. in my room working on this...
I found that turquoise dot fabric that I've had
in my stash for years...and decided to use it
to shadow it in those little pieced blocks
and separate all those sq in sqs...
the night sky fabric picks up
the pansy centers,  I think (hope!!) and
I am calling her:

"NIGHT BLOOMS"
Here's a photo in the daylight...

I have learned that making a Medallion style quilt
takes a totally different kind of thinking
and mindset from my usual style of
working,,,for sure.

I am anxious to see how it will look
bound and quilted;
I plan to hand quilt it after all this
trial and error work....!!!

**********************************

I don't know if I will continue on with #;s 2 &3
in this series of tutorials...

I hope I can take a deep breath and
use what I have learned on this one
and maybe do them?????
And this time perhaps, have a
bit more confidence that I will
be able to come up with
something..

Thanks so much
💜💙💝💟
💓💕💘💛
for all your
posts and
 encouraging words
along the way...
(visit her site to see all the
terrific variations)

Although I felt like a
"deer in the headlights" a whole lot--
(no kidding!!)
I feel that taking on this challenge
has {hopefully} expanded my
quilting skills...

AND,
 truthfully---

I  REALLY  LIKE  IT!!
YAY!!!!

BRAMBLE BLOOM # 1

No matter what I've put onto
this, it just doesn't thrill me!!
So here it stands...
and may stay except for a little stop
border perhaps in turquoise...

We are linking up with
to show our progress
Or
in my case..
the lack thereof....👿👺

Here is one thing I've tried but
ended up not liking
Maybe just too dark????
I just don't know......

Working in someone else's
format is not that easy
for me....

And with scrappy cut offs also...
Am I whining??? 👀
😒😕😢
[Well, I guess a bit...]

I look forward to seeing how the other
participants are doing...

MONDAY MURAL, et al

WIPS = scrappiness ;)))= Happiness;))))

*************************
and here are the first of my lovely
Bleeding Hearts
blooming by our deck steps...
they say
 "Spring"
 to me...
💗💕💓
From one little plant that a
friend gifted me they have
spread out underneath
my hydrangea
↯↯↯↯

You can just make out a few of the little
budding leaves on the hydrangea....
We had cut it back [drastically!!]
last year,
but hardy soul that it is,
it is making a nice comeback...

I am waiting to plant my marigold seeds
until Mother's Day--
[my birthday this year]
💃😍😎
You just can never be sure about
freezes here in SE CT...
**************************
It has gotten really warm--74.7 degrees
at 2 p.m. and the humidity
has begun to climb--60 now...

We were able to have our
coffee on the back deck
after our walk at the field...
this morning...
I went ALL the way around
AGAIN!! ;)))
👫
***********************
Tom mowed the lawn for the
first time and did all the edging!!
Phew--tiring when you're not
used to it!!
{and are 85!!}
**********************

We will bbq burgers tonight and
have them with a salad...
time for a little respite nap...

GLUE BOOK PROMPTS, et al

I prepared 100 glue book
 prompts following
"Caroline on the Hillside"
on Youtube's journal along...

The first two
prompts
I pulled
were:

"YOGA "
and
"PINK"

I know--who does yoga with high heels?
😀😁😂😃😄
But I think this lady looks like
she is doing a yoga pose
[hahaha]
fun fun fun....
and I love that pink fan...

The pink is the peony
flowers
which surround her...

Here is my ring of little circle prompts:
On the reverse of each circle
is a word [or words]
for me to use to set up my pages...

I am using this cut down
Seed catalogue for my
glue book adventure...

I cut this down and glued two-three pages
together to make them stronger...
and
here are the 1st two pages
for the prompts:
"Grand-mere
and Mother"

I found and
copied a very
old photo of my Grand-mere
holding my Mom as an infant...
this
flips over for a writing spot
on the reverse side...
for memories...
[there is that little tab on
the right to turn it over]

I gessoed the pages white
and
added sparkle spray...
to cover up the catalogue's
printed pages...

*********************
Our Sunday night supper was:
scrambled eggs,
little link sausages,
and toast with
grape jelly for Tom
and Apricot preserves
for me...
Y U M!!

It is a rainy night here--hope it
quiets down as my
daughter is flying off for her
New Orleans
week's
vacation at 3:50 a.m.!!!!
👹👺
EARLY BIRD special!!!

FLOWERING, et al

My magnolia tree has really bloomed beautifully this year;
I noticed that as the blooms begin to fade, they
turn a peachy color on the edges--so pretty!!
And so far no deer have eaten my blooms;)))

More flowering:
I have begun making another
snowball piece--
this time using cream flowered
fabrics for the snowballs...
I love this different look;)))

and
Here are the first two of a new
flowery "109 Little Squares" piece...
↧↧↧
Using cut offs [1.5" sqs]
 of flowered fabrics
for the crosses in this one...

It must be Spring in the air that makes me
  want
to use these
flowered fabrics...;)))
💚💛💜💙
***************************
We had a lovely, sunny day here; now
the skies are clouded over in
preparation for the coming rains...
