STRINGS IN SPRING--TRA-LA

A lovely afternoon on our deck; leaves popping out, blue skies...aaaah
Leaves not quite all out as yet--but Spring has arrived....;))))))
******************************************

                          40 X 40 "Spring Strings" is together....

I am thinking of borders to make it a decent lap size quilt
Perhaps this??
                                 A light peachey color....

*********************************
And in here.....
My bunny Tin from Dawn--thank you again--I love it....so adorable...
[let's not talk about what happened to the candies inside;000]

Using my 4.5" foundation squares--that middle size now...4 of each...
working in
single
colorways...↪↘
I have
still some more yellows left and some pinks;
and
really, just a couple dark blues and very few greens,
and a few rusty solids. They may end up in crumb squares...

So there will be more pinks and yellows made...
then I will go down to the last and teeniest size.

********************************
We have walked a mile for the past three days in a row on the
neighboring Town's boardwalk; and this morning's walk
was the warmest--
almost hot, as the wind was not off the water this morning...
AND.................
then, as we were out.....

We stopped at our new "Dollar General"  store:

I  found clothespins, [Thom put up a new line for me this week]
Lavender soaps,
and two large print puzzle books....👀👀 ;)))
************************************************
We decided to have our main meal this noontime--Thom
made his luscious sauce;
and I had mine over eggplant with Mozzarella
--no pasta for me...trying to keep the carbs low...

And that has been our day....so far.....tonight will be Red Sox and hexagons...

DRINK ME....ET AL

                                                      SPRING STRINGS
                                                      sewn into blocks
                                                   now to re-arrange them.....

But, wait a minute! I still have these leftovers.....

too short to span these foundations...
and so.......

Remember Alice in Wonderland picking up that
bottle that said "DRINK ME!"
...and she shrank down so that she
could fit in the little doorway?

Well my strings have had their "drink"
and shrunk down so that I now have to use the next
size down foundation...

i am on the middle one now.....[the one that says "products"]

I always have extra ones in my foundations drawer that I
have cut from  old phone books;
even rectangular ones...(waste not--want not:}}} )

Here is one using smaller blues....

and that is all I could eke out of the leftover blues/aquas....
I am trying to make these blocks all in one color family...

AND..............
I am now tackling the yellows.....I have quite a few of those
strips left so,
I may be able to get 2 blocks???
I am not going to sew strips
end-to-end as I have in the past...
but rather, just use them as they are...
******************************************

Here's our new carpet with almost all our furniture moved back in...
And speaking of "backs"...we are both nursing sore ones today..so
the rest will have to wait ....

I really love that soft tweedy look ..💓💕💗
[and now can you see just why I HAD to buy that jelly roll]

Here's another view from the Hallway....and
those are the two new rocking-swivel chairs...
and so today................

this is where you will find me.....;))))
hugs for a wonderful weekend,

JENNY MADE ME DO IT!

All of you out there, you KNOW who SHE is,right?
                                           AND....
I had just told myself
that I am on a NO-BUY fabric for the rest of this year...
Because I did a lot of damage
Jan -April...

I don't NEED anymore fabric,
I know this........you know this, well anyone who quilts, knows
all about this.....right?

                                                   B U T :

When I watched her May Basket video and saw this gorgeous fabric...
                            I caved (already ;000)
and promptly
bought  the Jelly Roll.....all the while
saying to myself..........(shaking my head up and down....)

"You see, (she rationalized) with the new carpeting and and two new chairs
in the living room and a deep maroon sofa, I really need some lovely
pillows to pull it all together...yep!! I do....REALLY.... "

I mean.............................. look..............................at this array:

                Practically ALL R O S E S {and this is not a good photo even}
just yummy...........................
roses,
roses,
and more roses .....need I say more????

FYI:
[I have no affiliation with MSQuilt Co or any private pact with Jenny--hahaha
just am addicted to her videos....] 💞💕💖

That's my story and that's what I am sticking to...so there!!
I mean it is my
birthday month...and all.....

I LIKE No. 2

I like my new little Oster steamer a lot; it's advertised as a rice
steamer but I use it for my veggies..just the right size for the 2 of us..

And, I like:
This fused and embroidered piece by Laura
Wasilowski
I want to make one of these
using my own hand...

AND:
 I love Dawn's
sporty haircut...
very free and easy....

And:
I am SO glad that our new carpet is finally in
a nice soft tweedy beige...
[now to put all the {oof} furniture back in again]

AND:
Finally I
 DON"T LIKE
THIS!!!

Linking up with
LEEANNA of "Not Afraid of Color"

AND SO....

Since that marking debacle and losing heart about it, I've been in my little
diamond painting spot...I prepared a new canvas and have begun to calm
myself down doing this...it is very serene work ...(aaaahhh...)

This one uses little square drills...

42 colors...all in the
lovely pinks and
salmons family

Here are the ROSES! Aren't they
                                                pretty????

                                     and I have a start...

placing all those little square drills is very slow work
and takes concentration--takes my mind off of....well.....that other
THING!!..;)))

*********************************************
Here is my dining room; now housing all my living room furniture,
too. See that exhausted hubby there?  At least we had piano
movers take care of my piano....that would have been just
too much...
He really did the bulk of that moving...at 80, he is
still very strong....but neither of us wants to do this again
We feel as if we are just moving in;0000.

And here is my almost emptied living room awaiting the
carpet installers tomorrow...

We've just left two chairs so we can sit and have our 4 o'clock
cocktails....we really needed one yesterday....
[you can see the 3rd quilt I ever made--the bargello-style
on the far wall]
****************************************
Tomorrow will be my final eye exam after my laser surgery...

🙆🙈😺 I can see so much better, it is amazing...;)))

That's it for today,

STRINGING ALONG and WOE IS ME

Here are the latest Spring Strings blocks.....

Today, I sorted what is left  of my string scraps into colors:
                                     (sort of) ;)))

these are the only ones left...

                                                    AND
                                     these little corner triangles
                                        [from
                                            what was going to be
                                                   a broken dishes piece]
BUT: every time I sewed them together
                                       they wonkified on me....(sigh)

So I am using these for block corners..

When all (or most of )these strings are gone
the piece will be deemed finished......

As I am pretty much randomly picking strings for each block, this
is turning out to be a
                              "String Vortex"...or (string vomit!!) --piece

I am:
not over-thinking anything...

I am not {obviously}
doing matchey-matchey
or
taking too long to pick and choose either.......
And as,
I am in love with any kind of scrappy quilts-
the clashings .......just are what happens...

(I am sure some of you out there are gnashing your teeth!
and thinking to yourselves: " Wow" does that go with
THAT?????? What is she thinking???)

See, that is the point, I am not thinking...just pulling
strips....

I don't want to see A N Y of these
                           S C R A P S
                              hanging around...
                                       AND......
                        **somehow I cannot bear
                                                  to throw them out...**
************************************
Now for a very sad tale of woe....

Remember this piece I finished [from Lori at Humble Quilts] ?

Look what happened when I tried a
"so-called" wash out pen to begin marking
                                   for quilting.....aaargh--oooh noooo...
                                               DISASTER.....

I have washed and washed and put white vinegar on it--BUT
it keeps on coming back.... (S I G H )

I guess I will just  have to just remove the triangle
and put a new one on it...😒😢😡😠😟---if i can find the same fabric--
or as Cathy says take all four off and replace them all....
No more marking pens for this gal....
Has this ever happened to any of you???

hugs, Julierose, La Blageuse (scrubbing away-euse);((((

SASHIKO SATURDAY

I have had this Sashiko kit for "yonks"; I don't even recall where I got it...

I do remember reading a book about it by Roberta Horton--she did a lot
of Japanese quilting quite a while ago...

It is a relaxing and easy running stitch on a doubled cloth...
love how it looks..

I am doing this while watching the Red Sox games at night; it is easy to
see 👀  👀 ----so, that makes it perfect for lamplight sewing...
Making it easier to
Keep my hands OFF of food and busy ( hahaha ).

As I am really trying
                              hard to drop lb-age (!!)
I am only allowing myself tea at night--
                                                         NO
                                                            SNACKS!!
                                                                 ðŸ˜‹ðŸ˜’
[Tough when the hubster is eating beside me....and not gaining
any weight!!!!! ] How fair is that??????????

****************************************
The sun is trying hard to come out this morning; will we have a
decent Saturday?  Oops, in again....no ...out again...etc etc...

Hugs, Julierose, La Blageuse (sashaying with Sashiko-euse) ;)))

P.S.  visiting kathy's quilts for Sunday's Slow Slothful ;)))
